Ruby's Rainbow: White Plus One Other Color Challenge

Good morning!  I was lucky to be asked to join the Ruby's Rainbow Design Team; today will be my first official challenge!  White plus one other color....

As I was trying to decide what to do, I realized that it would be hard to color an image without using other colors...at least neutrals....  So I opted to go with some paper piecing.  I pulled out one of my favorites to paper piece...the PTI onesie from Bitty Baby Blessings.  I stamped it with Smokey Shadow to get a softer look.  If you look closely, you will see that there's a bit of subtle glitter on the banded edges.  I added a embossed background and a button tied with satin ribbon.  I think I will whip up a few more of these...they would be good to have on hand....

Stamp: PTI Bitty Baby Blessings
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select, SU! Pink Pirouette, PTI Bitty Dot Basics DP
Ink: PTI Smokey Shadow, SU! Going Gray Marker
Embellies: PTI Sweet Blush Button, White Satin Ribbon (my stash), Martha Stewart Crystal Fine Glitter
Extras: Cuttlebug Embossing Folder, Spellbinders Nestabilities, Dimensionals

I am also entering this card in the following challenges:

Bunny Zoe's Crafts: Celebrations
Craft Your Days Away: Paper Piecing
Craft Your Passion: Paper Piecing
Fetch a Sketch
Ladybug Crafts Ink: Pink and Girly
Use it Tuesday:  All About Baby (hoarded supply is PTI DP)

I invite you to take a look at the Ruby's Rainbow blog to check out the rest of the DT's creations.  Our challenge will run for the next fortnight and I would love to see your take on the theme....

Thanks for stopping by!

Tuesday Morning Sketches #135

Good morning (again!)  It's time for another fun sketch from the gang at Tuesday Morning Sketches.  I realized St. Patrick's Day is just around the corner, so I thought I should get busy and make some cards.  I used one of my favorite standbys...Changito!

Changito is colored with pencils; his eyes are accented with a black gel pen and I added a touch of glitter to his 4 leaf clover.  I like the contrast of the Kraft and distressed edges with the crisp white of the image panel and the sparkly glitter and dew drops.  I actually did a bit of surgery on my card...when it was done, it just didn't look quite right to me.  I extended the horizontal striped panel...afterwards I thought it looked so much better.  Funny how something so small can make such a difference!  Sometimes you really need to make those small adjustments to make the sketch work....

Image: Stampendous
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select and Kraft, Canvas Corp. DP
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Embellies: Robin's Nest Dew Drops, Martha Stewart Crystal Fine Glitter
Extras: Crayolas/Goo Gone, Corner Chomper, Dimensionals

I am also entering this card in the following challenges:

Fashionable Stamping Challenges: Make it For a Child
House of Gilli: Gilli Goes Green

I hope you will check out the rest of this week's creations...maybe even leave some kind words for the DT's efforts.  I would love to see what you come up with using this sketch....

Creative Card Crew Challenge: Humor

Good morning!  Today brings another fun challenge, for this fortnight, from the Creative Card Crew.  Our sponsor is Bugaboo Stamps (love them!) and our challenge is humor....  Yay!  How fun is that?  I must confess that I had a hard time choosing an image...because I like so many of them.  In fact, I filled my cart and purchased a few!  (Wink!)

I chose Margaret to work with today...maybe I like her so much because she's a nurse like I am....  Anyway, she cracks me up!  She's colored with pencils and I added some glitter to her coins and buckles.  The foam of her green beverage is coated with carrara marble glitter for a bit of emphasis.  I used some black ribbon and Bella Dots for embellishing.  The sketch is from Stella Says Sketch.

Paper: PTI Stamper's Select and True Black, Reminisce DP
Embellies: SU! Black Grosgrain Ribbon, Bella Dots, Doodlebug Glitter (yellow), Martha Stewart Carrara Marble Glitter

Make it stop!!...TMS#134...Take #2

Here's my 2nd attempt with Kathleen's Tuesday Morning Sketches sketch.  The snow we had yesterday inspired me to do another winter card....  Actually my kids aren't saying "make it stop"!  My son was saying that he hasn't even gotten to go sledding this winter...if I would have known how the winter would be, I wouldn't have bought him a new pair of snowpants.  Crazy weather...you just never know!

Changito is colored with pencils and accented with glitter.  I used vellum for the corner panels and used snowflake diecuts and silver brads for embellishment.

Paper: PTI Stamper's Select, SU! Night of Navy, Pebbles DP, The Paper Studio Vellum
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Embellies: Barbara Trombley's Art Glitter in "Angel Dust", Spare Parts Brads

TMS#134

Good morning!  It's time for another sketch challenge at Tuesday Morning Sketches.  My first instinct was to go with a winter/snowflake theme, but I decided on some bright and cheery papers.  Now this morning, as I look outside, I wonder if I shouldn't have went with snow?  We got some last night, but not enough for a late start at school this morning...much to the kids' dismay!

Fluffles is shaded with a pale gray pencil, but it's hard to see it in the photo.  His eyes are dotted with a black gel pen.  When I was ready to add my embellishments, I remembered the Doodlebug Sugar Coated CS I had in my stash...it matches the DP perfectly!  I used an MFT die to cut the stars.

Paper: PTI Stamper's Select, SU! Pink Passion, Doodlebug Sugar Coated CS, Doodlebug DP
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Extras: Prismas/Creyolas/Goo Gone, MFT Die-namics Star Die, Dimensionals

I hope you will check out the rest of the DT's creations and play along yourself.  I think I may try this sketch out again...using snowflakes!

TMS#133

Good Tuesday morning!  It's time for another fun challenge from Tuesday Morning Sketches; our sketch this week comes from Jessica and it's not only a sketch, but a card with a "scrapling".  I have always wanted to try this, so here was my chance!

First, you trim an A2 card down to a 4 1/4" square...the portion remaining is the "scrapling".  How fun is that?  You can use the scrap to make a tiny little card.  I added a charm that says "I Love You"...this might be a fun one to sneak into one of the kids' backpacks.  Or, as we say at our house "packpack"....  When my daughter was a pre-schooler, she used to call it this and it stuck!

Image: Stampendous
Paper: PTI Vintage Cream, SU! Poppy Parade, Pinecone Press DP
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Embellies: SU! Poppy Parade Ribbon, Barbara Trombley's Art Glitter in "Angel Dust", Watch Us Charm
Extras: Prismas/Crayolas/Goo Gone, Spellbinders Nestabilities, Dimensionals

I hope you will stop over at the Tuesday Morning Sketches blog to check out the rest of the DT's creations. I would love to see you give this fun technique a try too....  This week is a judged challenge and Marie has thrown in the extra challenge of 4-2-1...4 layers, 2 ribbons, and 1 embellishment.  Have fun!

Thanks for stopping by!

Creative Card Crew: Masculine

Good morning; it's time for another fun challenge from the Creative Card Crew!  Our sponsor for this fortnight's challenge is Simon Says Stamp and our theme is "masculine".  I have to tell you...this was a hard one for me!  I really don't make masculine cards...I guess they are out of my comfort zone.  I had the hardest time coming up with a plan and then I remembered this wonderful card kit I had received from my Secret Sister Patti; thank you, Patti, you saved the day!

The bear is colored with pencils and I went with a basic layout.  I had originally planned to punch a portion of a circle out of the image panel, but it was so thick that my punch now sticks and it didn't cut all the way through.  So...to cover up the faux pas I added a circle, the corduroy brad (cool!), and a sentiment.  All of the materials used to make this card are SU!.

Image: SU!
Sentiment: SU! Just Believe
Paper: SU! Sahara Sand, Chocolate Chip, and Sage Shadow, SU! Designer Series Paper
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Embellie: SU! Brad
Extras: Prismas/Crayolas/Goo Gone, Spellbinders Nestabilities, Dimensionals

I hope you will head on over to the Creative Card Crew blog to check out the rest of the DT's creations.  Go ahead, dig out your masculine themed supplies and play along!  Why not?  You could win a prize!

Thanks for stopping by!

Cupid Stella

I had to try out some more of my new paper and I couldn't resist using Stella again...I think she is a hoot!  I like that the DP is a bit non-traditional color-wise.  Can't say that I've made too many blue Valentines....  Stella is colored with pencils and accented with glitter...it's hard to see in the photo, but I even added a touch to her blue eye shadow....  Now that's hot!

TMS#132

Good Tuesday morning!  It's time for another fun sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches; today Theresa has done the the honors and our sponsor is Paper Pretties.

We went out of town this past weekend and I had the opportunity to shop at 2 stamping/scrapping stores.  I'm always excited when I get this kind of opportunity because the only stores I have close are big box stores.  So I was like a kid in a candy store!  Even though Valentines is so close and there's not a lot of card making time left, I couldn't resist some of the lovely papers I found.  This line is from Echo Park and is called "Yours Truly".

I stamped my image on CS and DP; then colored the image, cut it out and pieced it.  I like the subtle text in the background.  I added a bit of glitter to the pink hearts.  I also tried something a bit different embellishment-wise.  I love the swirly bling I see used on cards, but don't use it myself so I thought I would give it a go.  I tell you, I had that bling here, there, and everywhere before I was happy with it!  LOL  Good thing it is not overly sticky!

Paper: G.P. 110, SU! Ruby Red and Basic Grey, Echo Park DP
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Embellies: Barbara Trombley's Art Glitter in "Pink Smoothie", Martha Stewart Crystal Fine Glitter, Zva Creative Bling
Extras: Prismas/Goo Gone, Spellbinder's Nestabilities, Dimensionals

You can check out the rest of the DT's creations here; be sure to leave them a little love for their efforts.  Would love to see what you come up with using this fun sketch too!

Valentine Pocket Card

Good morning!  I combined some challenges to make my card for today; the starting point was the SCS sketch challenge....  You could either make a pocket or the lower portion could open; I opted to go for the pocket, so my fold is on the bottom.  The bottom of the insert is left blank so you can write your message.

My image is colored with pencils and the red portion is accented with glitter.  I decided to use just CS, so I embossed the red layers for a bit of texture.  I added a scalloped border, ribbon, felt flower and some bling for embellishment.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:
Bellarific Friday: Valentines or Pink/Red
Corrosive Challenge Blog: I {Heart}You
Crafty Sentiments Designs: Punches and/or Dies
Die Cuttin Divas: Anything Goes (used scallop border and flower dies)
Oldie But a Goodie Challenge: Hearts (stamp and embossing folder are my oldies)
Party Time Tuesdays: Anything Goes
The Crafty Pad: Valentine/Love
