Splat

Good morning!  I was tidying up my craft room and came across these cute stamps from C.C. Designs...I thought I could pair them with some challenges...this is what I came up with !

The image is colored with pencils, her eyes are dotted with a black gel pen, and I've applied 3 kinds of glitter...super fine to the trim on her clothes, medium to the snowball she's hiding behind her back, and super chunky to the "ground".  I added some ribbon and a sentiment for embellishing.  The sentiment for the inside reads "you've been snowballed".

Try Something New....

Good morning...more importantly, Merry Christmas to you!  I hope your holiday season has been filled with health, happiness, family, and friends!  The kids have been wrapping and baking the last few days, so it has been very festive here...I have to say, I love having the help to get things done!  My son played Joseph in our church Christmas program last night...how fun that was!  We are planning to spend a relaxing morning at home, before getting together with family later today.  Er, I guess the "relaxing" part comes after the frenzy of seeing what Santa left under the tree....  LOL

We do have a challenge for you this week at Tuesday Morning Sketches.  It is "Anything Goes", but we would like you to try something new...for example, a new technique.  There is a good prize up for grabs; you can read about on the Tuesday Morning Sketches post.

For my project today, I tried something I had seen awhile back at SCS...it's called the "Date Night Kit".  The tutorial had easy to follow instructions, along with photos; I did modify the tutorial somewhat to make my project.  I don't know about the young people in your life, but my kids love gift cards and this card will hold a lot of them!  Here are a couple more pictures of the inside:

The inside pocket was used for a CD in the tutorial, but I made it smaller so I could tuck a special note or that extra special gift card inside.  The outside can be used for your greeting or a little note to the recipient.

Santa Ruby

(For current Creative Card Crew challenge, click here.)

Good morning!  It's time for another challenge from the ladies at Tuesday Morning Sketches; our sponsor for this challenge is Bugaboo Stamps (yay!) and it the sketch was drawn by yours truly!  I really had a hard time coming up with a sketch (that's why I like sketch challenges so much) so I just thought I would go with my old stand-by layout.  I hope you will try it!

Ruby is colored with pencils and decked out with glitter.  I know that Santa's suit is not pink, but if I were dressing up as Santa, I would go for a pink suit for sure!  I used some fun, colorful Doodlebug papers and kept the embellishing to a minimum...just a snippet of ribbon and some acrylic gems.

JOY

Good morning!  It's time for another challenge at Creative Card Crew; this fortnight we would like to see red and gold.  I don't typically think of snowflakes when I think of red/gold, but I remembered this lovely DP (it has a gorgeous gold shimmer...hard to capture in a photo) in my stash and thought I would give it a try!

I colored the image with pencils and accented with a couple different types of glitter.  In addition to the shimmery DP, I used some SU! gold shimmer CS from my stash (love this stuff!).  I diecut and layered some snowflakes and added some gold brads for embellishing.

Hoo! Hoo! Hoo!

Good morning!  I've got a clean and simple card today.  I used an old Retro Sketch...I like that the panel looked like a Polaroid photo!  I do have a die like that, but it seemed a bit big, so I just cut my own to better fit the sketch.  The owl is colored with pencils and accented with glitter.  I used a single fancy brad for embellishing.

Snappy Holidays

Good morning!  It's time for Clearly Digi Stamps (Clear Dollar Stamps) December release...I always look forward to seeing and working with the new sets and this month was no exception!  The sets I'll be showcasing today are Cute Critters and Flower Garden.

First, I have used the fun set "Cute Critters"; it includes outlines, pre-colored images, sentiments and a selection of papers.  It isn't a holiday set, but I wanted to show the versatility of the images and created a Christmas card.  The turtle is colored with pencils and accented with glitter...I imagine even turtles like to get their glam on!  I distressed my papers a bit, added a silver bow, lots of silver brads and a computer generated sentiment.

Ink: Printer, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select and Pure Poppy, SU! Soft Sky, Carta Bella "Merry and Bright" DP

Next, I have used an image from Austin Owen's "Flower Garden" collection.  I like to go clean and simple with Austin's images, so the image will shine.  The iris is printed, colored with pencils, accented with some bling, and layered onto a white card base.

Poppi's Christmas Cocoa

Good morning!  I liked the current Bugaboo sketch, so I combined it with some other challenges to make this card...it's fun to see how many challenges you can work into 1 card!  I also thought it was time to do a traditional red/green Christmas card!

The image is colored with pencils and Poppi's Santa hat is accented with glitter.  I embellished the card with some holly diecuts and pewter brads.  After I was done, I started to rethink the brads...maybe I should have used black....  What do you think?

Non-traditional Christmas

Good morning!  It's time for another challenge from the Tuesday Morning Sketches gang; this week our sponsor is Close To My Heart and it's our judged challenge...non-traditional Christmas.  The set I'm using is called Love Blooms and it would be perfect for scrapbook pages.

The flowers and leaves are stamped in 2 steps...first the outline, then the middle.  I have used brown for the outline, and Versamark for the middle.  I then cut my flowers out.  DP is PTI; I did a bit of distressing and added some ribbon and Swarovski flatbacks.

My image is colored with pencils and accented with glitter.  The "frame" around the image is sponged, along with the image panel and the red snowflake.  I added some ribbon and Bella Dots and called it good!

Oh Baby!

Hello there!  It's time for our fortnightly challenge at Creative Card Crew; our sponsor is Simon Says Stamp and our theme is "Stars".

I had a bit of a struggle coming up with a "star" plan, but then I came across the Retro Sketch and I was set. I decided to go with a baby card...no stamping involved here...I let the cute paper and dies do all the work!  I embellished with a bit of this and that...mini brads, sparkly CS, a button, and a snippet of ribbon.  I think I may try a girl version of this....

Feeling Frazzled?

Good morning!  Does the impending holiday season leave you feeling frazzled?  At times, I do....  (Especially when I leave the SFYTT until the last day...where did November go?)  My card today is a reminder to...Keep Calm and Recharge!  So the next time you are feeling like the Energizer bunny, take some time for yourself...have a latte, read a book, exercise...whatever leaves you feeling refreshed.

Sentiment: Technique Tuesday
Ink: SU! Melon Mambo, Versamark
Paper: SU! Soft Sky and Melon Mambo, Carta Bella "Merry and Bright" DP
Embellies: Energizer AAA Battery, Grosgrain Ribbon (scrap)
Extras: Spellbinder's Nestabilities, Red Line Tape

Tip: I found that if I inked my stamp first with Versamark and then with colored ink, I achieved a better impression.  The battery is heavy, so I used a strip of Red Line Tape to secure it.

I am also entering my card in the following challenges:

Crimbo Crackers: Anything Goes (Christmas or Festive)
Moving Along With the Times: Use 3 elements starting with the same letter (blue, battery, balls)
Party Time Tuesdays: Anything Goes

Baby Boy Onesie

Good morning!  I am running a bit behind with my Ruby's Rainbow post today.  (Is anybody else running behind?  This is always such a busy time of year!)  Anyway...back to the challenge....  Debbie has chosen our challenge for this fortnight and it is...shaped cards!  What a fun idea...the possibilities are endless!

I decided to make a baby card; I used the onesie die from the PTI Shape Ups series.  It turned out to be a quick and easy way to create a shaped card:

1. Simply diecut the card base (there is a dotted line on the die to show where the fold should be placed).
2. Diecut the full onesie to adhere to the base.
3. Embellish as desired.

I let the cute DP do the work for me and embellished simply with a snippet of ribbon, and a button.  At the bottom I used small punched circles to resemble snaps.  I layered 2 punches together to create dimension.

***I thought the die was fun and easy, but I did run into a small snag....  I wanted to flip the card base so that the "ugly" side would be towards the DP and not be seen.  I don't know about you, but my Cuttlebug plates get really scarred and all those marks are transferred to the back of my diecuts.  I found that the die is not symmetrical on each side, so I couldn't line up the cardbase and the top layer if the base was flipped.  I hope I am making sense...LOL.  It must be my OCD coming into play...I like my cards neat and tidy...front and back!

Paper: G.P. 110, Doodlebug DP
Embellies: PTI Button/DMC Floss, White Grosgrain Ribbon
Extras: PTI Shape Ups Onesie Die, EK Success Round Punch

I hope you will check out the rest of the DT's creations.  What will you make?

I am also entering my card in the Craft Room Challenge: Punches and Diecuts.

Clearly Digi Stamps November Release

It's that time again...time for the newest stamp release from Clearly Digi Stamps (Clear Dollar Stamps)!  I'm working with 2 fun sets today...Jolly Joy and Corvette.  Both sets come with outlines, pre-colored images, and papers to match.  I decided to go with the pre-colored images this month.

First up is Jolly Joy...I love the fun images and colors of this set!  I resized and printed the image, along with one of the DPs.  The DP is matted and the image panel is cut with a Spellbinder's die and popped up.  I added some ribbon and Swarovski flatback crystals for my embellishments.  The sketch is from Create with Connie and Mary.

.

Image: Jolly Joy
Ink: Printer
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select and SU! Real Red
Embellies: Swarovski Flatback Crystals, PTI Pure Poppy Satin Ribbon
Extras: Spellbinder's Nestabilities, The Paper Studio Sticky Doos

Second, I made a clean and simple card.  I resized the image, trimmed it, and popped up the panel on the cardbase.  The holly is cut out, adhered, and I gave the berries a bit of glitter.

Images: Jolly Joy
Ink: Printer, SU! Black Marker
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select
Embellie: Martha Stewart Glitter in "Candy Apple"
Extras: The Paper Studio Sticky Doos

Next I went out of my comfort zone and made some "man cards"....  The Corvette set has 4 different colored cars along with 2 DPs to match each color.  The sentiment is from the new set Cool Ride.  I did a bit of layering and added some brads for embellishing.

Image: Corvette
Sentiment: Cool Ride
Ink: Printer
Paper: G.P. 110, SU! Poppy Parade and Basic Black
Embellies: Spare Parts Black Brads, Recollections Black Mini Brads
Extras: Spellbinder's Nestabilities

I combined the image and sentiment for this one, and added some black mesh...I like the way the colorful DP peeks out from under the mesh.  I also like that I have a couple of "man cards" for my stash!  (Yay for me!)

Sentiment: Cool Ride
Ink: Printer
Paper: G.P. 110, SU! Basic Gray and Basic Black
Embellie: Black Mesh (my stash)

Feeling Punchy?

Good morning!  We have an interesting challenge for you this week at Tuesday Morning Sketches...not only do we have a sketch, but it is our judged challenge as well...our twist is to create a punch art animal.  They don't call this a challenge for nothing!

Since I really had no idea how to make a punch art animal, I used Pinterest as a resource and found a cute penguin to try on My Stampin' Blog.  I made the penguin per the detailed instructions, but I had to add a bit of glitter to make it my own.  (I do LOVE glitter!)  I think he turned out kind of cute and I did have fun making him...even though it took all morning!  LOL  So here is my penguin combined with this week's sketch....

Paper: SU! Marina Mist, Daffodil Delight, and Basic Black, My Mind's Eye "Winter Wonderland" 6x6 Pad
Ink: SU! Bashful Blue, Pacific Point, and Pumpkin Pie, Color Box Frost White
Embellies: Barbara Trobley's Art Glitter in "Angel Dust", Spare Parts Brad, Black Mesh Ribbon (my stash)
Extras: SU! Punches: Two Step Owl, Extra Large Oval, Large Oval, and Word Window, Spellbinder's Snowflake Dies, The Paper Studio Sticky Doos

I hope you will head on over to the TMS blog to check out what the rest of the DT have created with their punches.  Why not dig out your punches and play along?

Birds....

Good morning!  It's time for another challenge from the ladies at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight our challenge is "Birds".  I chose to go with a winter bird, since the cold weather is fast approaching.  I know...sad but true!

I used a pre-colored image and coordinating DP, called Winter Bear, from Clearly Digi Stamps (Clear Dollar Stamps).  I did a bit of distressing to mimic the fur on the bear.  My sentiment is punched with a SU! punch and adhered with mini brads.

Image/Sentiment: Clearly Digi Stamps Winter Bear
Ink: Printer
Paper: G.P. 110, PTI Stamper's Select, and SU! Pumpkin Pie
Embellies: Recollections Mini Brads

I hope you will check out the rest of the DT's creations.  We are also having a Design Team call...you can see the details here.  It is a nice bunch of ladies to work with, so give it a thought!

Hey Chickie

I'm back with my second post today!  (Please scroll down for Creative Card Crew post.)  We have another sketch challenge for you at Tuesday Morning Sketches...Jessi designed our sketch this week and I think you'll like it...so many possibilities!

I was trying to come up with a tiny stamp to put in the circles...then I remembered my DeNami chicks...they're perfect!  I colored the cute, tiny chicks with pencils and added a bit of glitter to their bows.  The chick panels are popped up just a bit whereas the sentiment is popped up higher, plus I added some leaves to that flower.  It's pretty simple on one hand, but on the other hand there are a lot of layers.

Image/Sentiment: DeNami
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select, Harvest Gold, and Dark Chocolate, Jillibean Soup DP, My Mind's Eye DP (leaves)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Embellie: Doodlebug Glitter
Extras: Prismas/Goo Gone, Spellbinder's Dies, MFT Royal Leaves Die-namics Die, The Paper Studio Sticky Doos

I hope you will head on over to TMS to see what everyone else has created with Jessi's sketch.  What will you create?

Silver and Blue

Good morning!  It's time for another fun challenge from the Creative Card Crew team...this fortnight our challenge is to use silver and blue.  Aqua counts as blue, doesn't it?!

I like Bugaboo's new sketch (I flipped it), so I went with a Bugaboo image too.  The image is colored with pencils and accented with glitter; I used silver glitter on the snowmans' hats and white glitter on random snowballs.  I made a layered snowflake and added some silver cord and brads for embellishing.

I love Granny's Smith apples, so I wanted my card to be primarily green...I added a bit of caramel and some red for contrast.  The image is colored with pencils and the panel is popped up.  I was trying to figure out what to put in the upper left corner and then remembered my stash of alphabet beads...perfect!

Let It Snow

Hello there!  How was your weekend?  Since I worked, I had to take some time and get my "stamp fix" this morning!  I'm using a fun set called Word Doodles by Lisa Lara; it's available at Clearly Digi Stamps (Clear Dollar Stamps).  I have to tell you, I love Lisa's digi sets!  There is something about them that just makes me go "Awww...."  She has some cute new ones for the November release, so stay tuned....

At first I was going to go with colored CS, but then decided to go black/white...I thought the image was the perfect pop of color!  I printed the image twice, cropped/matted the first, and cut the snowman out of the second so I could pop him up for a bit more dimension.  I embossed one of the panels with snowflakes and added some black glitter CS to add a bit of sparkle.  I like how this one turned out...although I am not ready for snow!  LOL

Ink: Printer, SU! Black Marker

Use a Doily!

Good morning!  We have another challenge for you at Ruby's Rainbow...this fortnight my teamie Ellie Wee would like you to use a doily on your creation.  Sounds like a great challenge, right?

I knew I wanted to go with a Breast Cancer Awareness theme and pink...the doily seemed to work well with that.  As I was looking for my DP, I came across some scraps from one of my favorite paper collections...score!  I knew I wasn't going to mat the image panel, because I wanted to show as much of the doily as possible, so I printed the image on white CS so it would "pop" against the cream background.  I embellished simply with ribbon, a handmade felt flower, and some Swarovski crystals.

Image: Saturated Canary "Boobie Love"
Ink: Printer
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select, Vintage Cream, and Sweet Blush, My Mind's Eye DP
Embellies: SU! Pretty in Pink Grosgrain Ribbon, Swarovski Flatback Crystals in "Light Rose"

Please head over to Ruby's Rainbow, check out the doily creations, and play along!
