Catch the Bug: Anything But a Card

Good morning: it's ABC Monday at Catch the Bug! Valentine's Day is just around the corner, so I whipped up a tag using this adorable pup...I couldn't resist the hearts on the string! They were fun to color and "glitter up"; I confess, the glitter is always my favorite step! LOL I trimmed the image, mounted it on a tag, added twine, and tied it to the jar with ribbon. I added some Hershey's Kisses...I can't resist them!

Don't Worry Be Hippie!

Good morning!  I have a card to share using one of Faith's newer Birdbrains...isn't she groovy?  I've used one of my favorite color palettes...yellow and pink with a bit of blue, green, and orange added to coordinate with the patterned paper.  The image is colored with pencils and I've added some glitter "shadow" to her eyelids.  The sketch is an old one from Paper Craft Crew; I've done some simple layering and added buttons/floss for embellishing.  Here's a close-up:

Color Challenge (+Freebie Friday!)

Good morning!  It's Day 7 (and the final day) of Catch the Bug's Christmas in July celebration!  Today we have a color challenge for you; I don't know about you, but a color challenge really is a challenge for me!  Here's the color palette:

Thankfully the colors are really pretty!  The presents in today's Freebie Friday image made it pretty simple to implement the colors...whew!  Rudolph is colored with pencils and I turned the image panel into a tag.  (Yes, that is an eyelet on the tag!  When is the last time you used an eyelet?  It has been so many years for me that I had to search for my tools!  I do have a great assortment of eyelets though...this one is Doodlebug.)  I used a fun die with Santa's reindeer names and added ribbon and buttons for embellishing.  (Just in case you noticed....  The green ribbon really does coordinate with the paper...and Rudolph's green shirt and the button!  It is frustrating when the camera doesn't capture the true color; why does it look grayish?  If anyone know how to remedy this, I would love to hear your tips!)  Here's a close-up:

Tag, You're It!

Good morning!  It's Day 3 of Catch the Bug's Christmas in July and today's challenge is to make a tag!

I went with JJ!  She's colored with pencils and I've added some glitter to her furry trim and embellished with an assortment of ribbons.  I love the look on her face and her stance; the coordinating sentiment says "Me naughty? Pu-leeze!"  Not sure if I'll put this one on my sister's package or make it into a card for her!  LOL  Here's the whole tag:

Instant witch...

Good morning!  It's ABC Monday at Catch the Bug; for my "anything but a card" I made a treat container.  I actually had planned to make some treat packaging for my kids, but when I saw this fun image, already printed, and laying on my table I switched my plan.  Gotta love Stella!  And her sass!

The image is colored with pencils and I've accented the green brew, the star, and her purple eyelids with glitter.  I matted the image and adhered it to a basic tag; the sentiment is also a tag and I've tied it all to the container with twine and a button.  The container is covered with patterned paper held in place with a strip of double stick tape; I've filled it with iridescent shred and it's the perfect size for some instant coffee treats.  Voila'!  Cute packaging that's quick and easy!

The set has line art, pre-colored images, sentiments, plain, and patterned papers.  I used a pre-colored digi and added some glitter to the cotton candy.  The sketch is from Retro Sketches and I've embellished simply with twine and Swarovski flatback crystals.

JOY Tag

I'm back with a tag for Bugaboo's Christmas in July Thursday "Tag You're It" challenge!  I made a tag to go with a gift box of cupcakes.  The sentiment is colored with pencils and accented with glitter; I've utilized some die cuts and added twill and twine for embellishing.

You can see the tag a bit better in this shot; I was having a hard time photographing the box...the clear window made a "glare" on the photo.

Dear friend

Good morning!  I'm have a card and some exciting news from Clearly Digi Stamps...not only is today a new release, but it also opening day of the new store!  Woo hoo...I can't wait to check it out!  I hope you will check it out too, along with the new creations the DT have designed to inspire you.

Today I am working with a new set called Coffee Cup Greetings.  The set includes line art, pre-colored images, sentiments, and DP.  I used a line art image, as I thought this cup would be so fun to paper piece....  It was too...no tricky detail cutting!  Love that!  I pulled out some papers that I thought coordinated perfectly and I also used some bling from my stash that I have been hoarding.  Sometimes I really have a hard time using the stuff that is "extra pretty"!  Does anyone else have that problem?  I simply had to make myself do it!  (I even used one of the gems on the sentiment...to "dot" the "i".)  The sentiment is tied onto the cup handle with twine.

For the next month, Clearly Digi Stamps will be giving away free digis on Thursdays and Sundays.  Click here to see the current offering!

Ink: Printer, SU! Black Marker

Anything But a Card....

Good morning!  It's time for another challenge from Ruby's Rainbow; this fortnight my teamie Jackie has chosen "Anything But a Card".  Sounds interesting, right?  The possibilities are endless!

At first I wasn't sure what to do, but I happened to find some fun little tin pails at Target's Dollar Spot.  I bought a few to have on hand and decided to embellish one and make a tag to match for our challenge.  It will be good to have on hand when a birthday party pops up.  The bucket could hold candy, nail polish, a gift card or all three!  LOL

I colored my little chick with pencils and cut her out with Nestabilities.  The tag is cut with a PTI die and I used Jen del Muro's July SFYTT for my layout.  I added a bit of ribbon, Baker's Twine and some brads.  The image panel is popped up.  For the pail, I picked assorted coordinating ribbons and tied them onto the handle.

Ruby's Rainbow: Tags

Good morning!  It's time for another fun challenge from Ruby's Rainbow!  This fortnight our challenge was chosen by Jacqui and I have to admit it was a tough one for me....  You see, I am not an out of the box thinker!  I really admire the tags that others design...but had a hard time coming up with a plan.  I finally decided to go with a birthday theme....

I used a fun Changito image...doesn't he look excited!  LOL  He is so darn cute!  I colored the image with pencils, used Nestabilities to diecut and layer, then added a some Swarovski crystals.  I used a PTI die to cut my tag out of DP, added some grosgrain ribbon, popped up my image and added a candle to finish.  I decided to re-purpose a Crystal Light container, so I covered it with number paper to carry out the birthday theme.  I forgot to take a picture of the top, but the lid is decorated with as well; I diecut a circle of DP and mounted it on a scallop circle.  This ought to come in handy; my daughter turns 14 later this summer, plus it always seems like there is always a birthday party for her to attend.  (She went to one last night and I was REALLY SURPRISED when she asked me if she could pick out a card for her friend!  You see, she usually makes fun of my hobby...I was touched that she wanted one of my creations!  I told her to pick anything she wanted....)

Image: Stampendous
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Paper: PTI Stamper's Selet, Berry Sorbet, and Dark Chocolate, American Crafts DP
Embellies: Swarovski Flatback Crystals, Wright's Chocolate Grosgrain Ribbon, Berry Grosgrain Ribbon (my stash), Cake Mate Candle

Creative Card Crew Challenge: Christmas Lights

Good morning!  It's time for another challenge at the Creative Card Crew blog.  This fortnight our challenge is "Christmas Lights".  Our sponsor for the challenge is Robyn's Fetish and I chose a light of the old fashioned variety...a candle!  I decided to do something a bit different and made a tag, and then wrapped the gift with extra DP so it would coordinate.

I printed the image, colored it with pencils, then die cut it.  The tag is a PTI die; before cutting it, I applied a strip of DP.  I added a Cheery Lynn flourish, some twill and twine.

Paper: GP 110, PTI Fine Linen and Scarlet Jewel, Kelly Panacci DP
