April Showers

Good morning!  It's time for a new challenge from the ladies at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight Manuela has chosen our challenge and it is...Paper Piecing!  Fun challenge for sure!

I've used a cute and spring-y image and a fun mix of papers for my paper piecing and die cuts.  The image is colored with pencils and her rain coat and boots are paper pieced; I've embellished with ribbon, Bella Baubles, and die cut clouds.  I love the patterned papers...they are so bright and cheery!

I {heart} sketches #145

Good morning!  I have a card using this week's sketch from From the Heart Stamps...it's clean and simple..that's fun for a change of pace!  As I was writing my post I realized that Easter was early this year and I didn't plan very well; I guess I can put a positive spin on it and say that I am way ahead for next Easter!  Haha!

Here's a peek at the sketch:

I pulled some pretty paper from my stash and colored the image with pencils to coordinate.  I've done some simple layering and voila'...a clean and simple card!

Hello

Good morning!  I have a card to share using one of Jodie's newest creations...a coloring page!  These really seem to be all the rage, don't they?  This is my first experience with them even though I received a book for Christmas.  I cut a piece for background paper, then colored just the one flower.  I am going to admit that it took me a long time to accomplish that...and there is no shading!  I colored while I watched t.v., then had to put my eraser to good use cleaning up my messy coloring!  LOL  Not enough light + no table = messy!  I mixed the old (label maker) with the new (coloring page, sequins) with this card; I like how it turned out.

Image: Bugaboo Digital Image
Ink: Printer
Paper: Copy Paper, PTI Raspberry Fizz and True Black
Embellies: Bunny Bytes Designs Sequins, Dymo Label Maker
Extras: Prismas/Crayols/Goo Gone

Please check out the rest of the DT's creations at Catch the Bug for a bit of inspiration.  Have you or will you try the coloring pages?  What are your thoughts?

Thanks for stopping by!

Rainy Day Birdbrains

Good morning!  We have a fun new sketch for you at From the Heart Stamps, along with the twist of "Make a Masculine Card"...you can use the sketch, the twist, or both!  Here's the sketch:

I went with one of my favorites...Birdbrains!  We have been having some really nice weather considering it's only March, but when I was writing this blog post we were getting precipitation of some sort.  It wasn't really snow, sleet, or hail...not sure what to call it...it was strange!  Whatever it is, the Birdbrains are prepared with their umbrella!  (Doesn't the yellow one just look...disgruntled?! LOL)  They are colored with pencils and I've added some glitter to their eyelids and tummies, along with the rain.  I've embellished with brads and some sparkly clouds and a sun.  I really love the patterned paper...little smiley clouds with colored raindrops...Doodlebug papers just make me happy!

Balanced Diet

Good morning!  I have an Easter card to share using one of Faith's adorable Birdbrains...Chocolate Bunny Birdbrain.  I have to say that I agree with the theory of having chocolate in both hands...I call that a "two fister"!  LOL

I've colored the image with pencils and given her a bit of subtle glitter "eyeshadow".  I've paired the image with some of my favorite Easter papers from my stash (I just love Doodlebug papers!) and pulled out a bottle of Dew Drops for embellishing.  Do any of you remember those?  The bottle was full, so I was glad the color was perfect for this card...it's always good to use up the stash!

hoppy spring

Good morning!  I'm back with Catch the Bug's latest challenge which is a Theme Challenge..."Bright and Cheery"...sounds good!

I pulled out an Easter image that I already had printed in my stash and paired it with this week's sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.  The image is colored with pencils and accented with subtle glitter...I should have taken a close-up so you could see the glittery goodness!  I used some "bright and cheery" patterned paper and popped the image up for definition.  (I did cut a square out of the corner of the patterned paper and saved it for later use.  Do any of you do that?  It's too pretty to waste and most of it was covered up!)

Sketch Saturday #403

Good morning sketch fans!  We have a fun new sketch for you along with a new sponsor...Simon Says Stamp!  Here's our sketch:

I realized that St. Patrick's Day was almost here and I had yet to make any cards!  How could that be?  I whipped out one of my favorite characters...Changito!  (I use a lot of digis and I have to say that it was fun to break out the ink and actually stamp an image!)  The image is colored with pencils and I've added some subtle glitter to the shamrocks.  I've done some simple layering and embellished the card with a row of brads...I like how the black "pops" against the green!  (When I was uploading this, I was wondering if I should have went with a white card base?  What do you think?)  Here's a close-up of the sparkle:

FTHS March Blog Hop...CASE It!

Good morning!  It's time for From the Heart Stamps March Blog Hop; our theme this month is "CASE It"...hop along for some fabulous inspiration from the DT!

As you hop along, please leave a comment on each entry.  One random commentor will be selected on each blog to win an image of choice from Faith's store.

If you have arrived from the From the Heart Stamps blog you are in the right place, if not why don't you start at the From the Heart Stamps blog so that you don't miss anything?

This month we were challenged to CASE a card from our teammate...I am CASEing Ruth!  While the definition of CASE is to Copy and Share Everything, this was a challenge to create a card based on our teammate's style; instead of an exact replica, we were to use bits and pieces for inspiration.  As I looked through Ruth's FTHS creations I took note of her particular style...this is what I noted:

-Stitching
-Shaped cards
-Monochromatic
-Pearls
-Glitter
-Charms
-Vibrant coloring
-More cardstock, less patterned paper

What a fun challenge!  I was drawn to this, this, this, and this.  I love Ruth's use of white space and of course, the glitter!  I also have a huge stash of charms and thought it would be a great opportunity to use one.

The image is colored with pencils and doused with a liberal amount of glitter.  For embellishing I've cut 1/8" strips of Sookwang tape, applied them to the edges, and let the glitter fly!  Haha...not joking it was (is) everywhere!  I pulled out some twine and an Easter basket charm and...stopped myself from adding them!  With the glitter overload it just wasn't working on this card...I left if really clean and simple with lots of white space.

Ink: Printer
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select
Embellie: Art Glitter in Polar Bear, Martha Stewart Crystal Fine Glitter
Extras: Prismas/Crayolas/Goo Gone, Sookwang Tape

Now head on over to Brenda's blog to check out her fabulous creation!

Thanks for hopping along with us today; the hop will end on Monday, March 7th at 6:00 a.m. EST.  Winners will be posted on the From the Heart Stamps blog on Wednesday, March 9th.

Thank you for hopping along with us!
