Witch Stella

Good morning!  The ladies at Ruby's Rainbow have a new challenge for you; this fortnight Jennifer has chosen our challenge...Halloween, or use the colors of orange/purple/black.  I had this new Stella image just waiting to be used for a card...go Stella!  (Her crabbiness just makes me laugh!)

Stella is colored with pencils and I've used a black gel pen to dot her eyes (and the spider).  You can't see it well here, but I've used glitter accents...buckle, eye shadow, star, spider web.  The image is popped up and I've added some buttons for embellishing.

Paper: G.P. 110, SU! Perfect Plum, We R Memory Keepers DP

Survivor

I'm back again with a new challenge from Tuesday Morning Sketches; our sponsor this week is Saturated Canary.  I love Krista's images!

I have dedicated my TMS October posts to Breast Cancer Awareness, so I pulled out this cutie from my stash to finish the month.  The image is colored with pencils and I have gone the clean and simple route with the sketch, keeping the SCS HYCCT challenge of "Flat is Fabulous" in mind.  I die cut some hexagons for the background and just slightly popped up the image.  I finished with a simple stamped sentiment.  This card can be sent with just a regular stamp; I don't know about you, but that doesn't happen too often!

Image: Saturated Canary
Sentiment: MFT "Have Hope" Set
Ink: Printer, PTI Smokey Shadow
Paper: G.P. 110, SU! Pink Pirouette, PTI Smokey Shadow, the girls' paperie DP

Pumpkin Barry

Good morning!  It's time for a new challenge from the ladies at Creative Card Crew; for this fortnight our sponsor is Stamp Fairy and our theme is "Teddy Bear Picnic"...we would like to see you use Teddy Bears on your card.  This was a fun one!  Stamp Fairy has adorable bears, so I pulled Barry from my stash and whipped up a Halloween card.  As for the picnic...I'm sure this little cutie will soon be munching on his Halloween treats!

I combined this challenge with the Digi Sketch Challenge, which was a sketch and a 1,2,3 challenge (now that's really a challenge!).  The image is colored with pencils and Barry's eyes are dotted with a black gel pen.  I pulled some papers from my stash that are bright and cheery...not scary, and embellished with glittery bats and Bella Dots.

Birdbath Chick

Good morning!  I've made another card for the SCS HYCCT challenges; this one is for the "Peace and Quiet" challenge...no words on the front of the card.

I thought this From the Heart Stamps image, Birdbath Chick, was the perfect image...I went with soothing aqua, but added a pop of pink!  She is colored with pencils and I've added a touch of subtle glitter to her eyelids...a girl still needs to look her best while relaxing in her bubble bath...right?!  The bubbles are nice and sparkly, but the camera failed to capture that; I've also added some iridescent ribbon and die cut bubbles for embellishing.

Image: From the Heart Stamps "Birdbath Chick"
Ink: Printer
Paper: G.P. 110, PTI Stamper's Select, SU! Melon Mambo, American Crafts DP
Embellies: Art Glitter in "Polar Bear", Martha Stewart Crystal Fine Glitter, Ribbon (my stash)

Faith

Hello!  I'm sharing another card, that I made for SCS HYCCT challenges; this one is for the "Many Colors of Cancer" challenge.  I chose black, which stands for melanoma.  For my card, I am using Doodle Pantry's Special Ribbons set; it has colored ribbons to represent the different kinds of cancer, matching DPs, and sentiments.  The sketch is from last week's Just Add Ink challenge.

I printed the word "Faith" on my background panel, rounded the corners and adhered it to a black card base.  The ribbon DP was matted and popped up with dimensionals to frame the word.  For embellishing, I've added a button and Swarovski flatback crystal.  The inside is lined with a white panel with the sentiment "It's not what we say that matters, It's what we DO!"

Sentiment: Doodle Pantry "Special Ribbons" Set
Ink: Printer
Paper: G.P. 110, PTI True Black, Doodle Pantry "Special Ribbons" DP
Embellies: PTI Button, Swarovski Flatback Crystal in "Black Diamond"
Extras: Corner Chomper, The Paper Studio Sticky Doos

My Mother was diagnosed with melanoma last spring; thankfully she is doing well as it was caught early.  It was such a surprise as she has not been one to be in the sun a lot; she noticed a "freckle" that didn't look quite right.  When the biopsy came back as melanoma, she underwent a wide excision biopsy.  Even though I'm a nurse, this was not something I was familiar with.  I was shocked at how big her incision was!  She now has to have full body screenings every 3 months; they also recommend her siblings and children be screened too.  This is a deadly form of cancer!  Please be proactive; wear sunscreen and examine your skin for changes.

Doodle Pantry is having a Wild West Sale through October 27; all western themed products are 30% off!  You can check out some awesome cards from the DT and the sale details here.

Good morning!  We have a new Tuesday Morning Sketches challenge for you; this week, our very own Jessi has drawn the sketch and is also our sponsor...the winner of this challenge will receive 20 (yes, 20!) of her crocheted mats!

It's a great sketch; I went clean and simple and paired it with one of the SCS's HYCCT challenges, which was to use die cuts.  It was fun to let the dies do the work!  The t-shirt is cut out of DP and I've made a pink ribbon out of Swarovski crystals.  Some of the circles and the t-shirt are popped up for dimension.

Sentiment: MFT "Have Hope"
Ink: PTI Hibiscus Burst
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select, MAMBI DP
Embellies: Swarovski Flatback Crystals in "Rose"

When life throws you scraps...

...make a quilt!

Good morning!  We have another fun challenge for you from the ladies at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight, Shaz has chosen our challenge.  Can you guess what it is?  Button It!

I didn't have a concrete plan and then saw this Mo Manning image...I thought it would be perfect!  Her impish grin is just utter cuteness!  The adorable "Fairy Needle" is colored with pencils and her wings are accented with glitter.  The sentiment states: "when life throws you scraps make a quilt".  The quilt-like DP was in my stash...how lucky was that?  Things were finally coming together!  Then I was threading the buttons and thought; "Hmmm, do quilts have buttons?"  I guess mine would!  LOL  The layout is a simple one and the papers are slightly distressed.

Ink: Printer
Paper: SU! Blushing Bride and Poppy Parade, Lily Bee Designs DP

Survivor

I'm back with this week's Tuesday Morning Sketches challenge; our sponsor for the week is Doodle Pantry.  When I saw this adorable bird and the encouraging sentiment, I knew they would be perfect paired with this sketch and the SCS HYCCT challenge "It's a Cover Up" (hidden message).

The image colored with pencils and accented with glitter.  When I adhered the panel, I just glued around 3 edges so I could insert my hidden message.  The DP is slightly distressed and I've added some buttons and Swarovski flatback crystals for embellishing, along with a twill tab to pull out the hidden message.

Image/Sentiments: Doodle Pantry "I Will Survive"
Ink: Printer
Paper: PTI Harvest Gold and Dark Chocolate, Jillibean Soup DP

Just Wear Pink

.

Good morning!  It's Tuesday, so that means we have another sketch challenge for you from the ladies at Tuesday Morning Sketches.  We also have a twist this week, which is to use fancy dies...I don't have too many of those, so I did some layering instead.

I used a new set from Doodle Pantry, created for Breast Cancer Awareness, called Just Wear Pink.  It's an awesome set that includes outlines, pre-colored images, sentiments, and cooridinating DPs.  Today I went with a pre-colored image and paired it with some fun DP in my stash.  I printed the image, cut it out, and popped it up on a subtle pink dotted background.  I've added some Swarovski flatback crystals for a bit of shine.

Trick or Tweet

Good morning!  I don't know about you, but I love a good sketch to get my card making process going...it just seems to make everything fall into place so much easier.  How about a great sketch to get the week off to a good start?  Here is the latest sketch from From the Heart Stamps:

I switched it up just a bit and made a square card...I really wanted to use the new Bewitchin' Birdbrains image.  Let me tell you, it was really hard to added the "trick or tweet" banner because I had to cover up some of the pink bird!  LOL  I think she is just too cute...I love her pretty pink shade and her glitter eye shadow too!  I had seen a challenge to make a Halloween card and use pink...I certainly couldn't resist playing along, especially after I found the perfect DP in my stash.  (I can't find the challenge now...hmmm....)  For embellishing I've added lots of diecuts and glittery elements.

Ink: Printer, Sakura Black Gel Pen

Bee Birdie

Hello!  Today is my first post as a member of the Doodle Pantry DT and I'm excited to work with Laurie's images...I especially love the ants, but I find I am really enjoying the birds too!

Today I am sharing a card made with one of the October release sets; "Bee Birdie" features both uncolored and colored images, sentiments, and coordinating papers.  I am working with a colored image today, along with one of the matching papers.  I liked the touch of blue in the wings, so thought I would use that for my card base and accents.  I've done a bit of distressing to some of the panels and added a button and twine for embellishing; there's also a touch of glitter on the wings.

Image: Bee Birdie
Ink: Printer
Paper: G.P. 110, PTI Blueberry Sky and True Black, Doodle Pantry DP
Embellies: PTI Blueberry Sky Button, Devine Twine, Art Glitter in "Angel Dust"

You're My Cup of Tea

Good morning...I have some fun news to share...I have accepted a position on the Flat Friends DT!  Of course I didn't hesitate when Emma invited me...I am tickled to work with her adorable images!  New challenges are posted on the 1st of the month and you have the month to play along.

This month we have an inspiration challenge; check out the photo:

Isn't she chic?  I love the splash of red!  I decided it would be fun to paper piece "You're My Cup of Tea"...isn't he adorable peering over the edge of the cup?  His head and part of the tea bag are popped up to add dimension.  (As I was fussy cutting those tiny hands, I wondered why I thought it was such a good idea?!  LOL  It was some tricky trimming!)  I love the layout from Fusion...it's clean lines work well with the stripes; I've added a handmade felt flower and leaf stick pins for embellishing.

Ink: Printer
Paper: G.P. 110, PTI Pure Poppy and True Black, Fancy Pants Designs DP
Embellies: Handmade Felt Flower (PTI Pure Poppy Felt/MFT Royal Rose Die-namics Die/Bella Dot), Maya Road Stick Pins
