I had to make a Halloween card today...my last one for the year...so I pulled a fun Sami Stamps image from my stash.  It's colored with pencils and I've done a bit of layering before embellishing simply with 4 Bella Dots.  I like how this one turned out...the kitty is so cute!

Sketch Saturday #384

Good morning!  It's time for a new sketch at Sketch Saturday, along with a new sponsor...A Random Fan!  Thank you, Sherry, for the adorable image to work with...I couldn't resist those cute kitty ears when I saw them!  Here's a peek at the sketch:

I ended up flipping the sketch sideways, plus switching the layers to opposite sides.    The image is colored with pencils and accented it with glitter.  I pulled a bunch of patterns from an old 6x6 pad...I like the quirky blue instead of purple for Halloween!  For embellishing, there's a row of brads.  (Every time I bring out my brads I'm reminded that I rarely see them anymore.  Does anybody out there like brads as much as I do?  Plus, I have a ton of them in my stash! Wink!  Another question...Do you worry about using the "in" embellishments (paper, etc.)?  I'm just curious, because I tend to use what I like.)

Ink: Printer
Paper: G.P. 110, SU! Baja Breeze, PTI True Black, My Mind's Eye Patterned Papers

Oldie But Goodie

Good morning!  It's Oldie But Goodie Thursday at Catch the Bug...this is one of my favorite days since I get to pick from so many of Jodie's awesome images!

I love making Halloween cards, so I narrowed down my image choice to that category...still had a hard time choosing though!  I found a fun sketch, so I went with this square image since it was perfect for the sketch.  Stella is colored with pencils and the stars are accented with glitter.  I've used mesh for one of the panels and added brads for embellishing.

flyin' by to say hi

Good morning sketch fans!  We have a new sketch for you at From the Heart Stamps, along with a twist..."Use Stitching".  Check out the sketch:

I have to admit that I was a bit stumped by the sketch, so I flipped the image panel.  (I am also just realizing that I forgot the twist!  Ugh!)  I love this Birdbrain witch...she's cute, not spooky!  Shc's colored with pencils and her eyelids have a bit of glittery green "eye shadow" (of course I couldn't resist that!); I've cut her out and adhered her to the image panel.  I've embellished simply with a sentiment banner adhered with mini brads.

Ink: Printer, SU! Black Marker, Signo Black Gel Pen
Paper: G.P. 110, SU! Perfect Plum, PTI True Black, We R Memory Keepers Patterned Paper
Embellies: Martha Stewart "Sour Apple" Glitter, Recollections Brads

Sketch Saturday #303

Good morning!  We have a new sketch and a new weekly sponsor...Drawn With Character!  If you havn't checked out these adorable images you will want to...they are seriously cute!  I love the whimsy and playfulness...thank you, Krista, for the adorable image to work with today.  Here's the awesome sketch:

I really had a hard time choosing an image, but when I saw the cupcake I knew it was "the" one!  My 17 year old daughter owns/operates a cupcake business so I am partial to them.  The image is colored with pencils and paired with some Basic Grey paper from my stash...I knew the "sprinkle" paper would be perfect.  I've embellished simply with a button and a snippet of ribbon.

Image/Sentiment: Drawn With Character "You Are the Cupcake to My Sprinkles" Digital Image
Ink: Printer
Paper: G.P. 110, SU! Marina Mist, PTI Pure Poppy, Basic Grey Patterned Paper

Instant witch...

Good morning!  It's ABC Monday at Catch the Bug; for my "anything but a card" I made a treat container.  I actually had planned to make some treat packaging for my kids, but when I saw this fun image, already printed, and laying on my table I switched my plan.  Gotta love Stella!  And her sass!

The image is colored with pencils and I've accented the green brew, the star, and her purple eyelids with glitter.  I matted the image and adhered it to a basic tag; the sentiment is also a tag and I've tied it all to the container with twine and a button.  The container is covered with patterned paper held in place with a strip of double stick tape; I've filled it with iridescent shred and it's the perfect size for some instant coffee treats.  Voila'!  Cute packaging that's quick and easy!

Image/Sentiment: Bugaboo Stella Witch-Instant Witch Digital Image
Ink: Printer
Paper: G.P. 110, PTI Orange Zest and True Black, Carolee's Creations
Embellies: Divine Twine, PTI Button

Sketch Saturday #382

Good morning!  We have a new sketch for you at Sketch Saturday; Simon Says Stamp is sponsoring this week.  One lucky player will win $25 to spend in the store!  Here's this week's sketch:

I combined this challenge with Catch the Bug's "Fall" theme challenge.  I colored Edward to coordinate with this pretty patterned paper...I like that the leaves aren't tradition fall colors, it's a nice little twist!  I embossed the blue panel with a wood grain texture, added a sentiment from Stampendous and a bit of twine.

Image: Bugaboo "Edward-Fall Pumpkins" Digital Image
Sentiment: Stampendous
Ink: Printer, Memento Tuxedo Black, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Paper: G.P. 110, PTI Orange Zest, SU! Island Indigo, Carta Bella Patterned Paper

BOO!

Good morning!  We have a new sketch for you at From the Heart Stamps; along with the sketch is an optional twist, this week it is "Keep it Flat" (mail friendly).  Check out the sketch:

I went with the twist; let me tell you, this card is flatter than a pancake!  LOL  No popped up layers or chunky embellies, only glitter!  The image is colored with pencils, accented with glitter, and layered on some papers from my stash.  This one is definitely "mail friendly"!

thinking of you

Good morning!  It's Saturday so that means we have a new sketch for you at Sketch Saturday, along with a new sponsor...Milk Coffee (thank you for the adorable image to work with!).  Here's the awesome sketch:

I love the simplicity of this sketch and paired it with a simple image.  I printed the image twice, colored it, then cut out the hearts and popped them up on the image panel.  For embellishing I've added some glitter to the butterflies and flowers and finished with a stamped sentiment.  Here's a close-up of the dimensional detail:

You're Spectacular

Good morning!  It's time for From the Heart Stamps October Blog Hop; our them this month is "Meet the Design Team"...hop along for some fabulous inspiration from the DT, plus interesting facts and tips!

As you hop along, please leave a comment on each entry.  One random commentor will be selected on each blog to win an image of choice from Faith's store.  Additionally, we have a "Scavenger Hunt" game with some prizes on the FTHS blog.

If you have arrived from the From the Heart Stamps blog you are in the right place...I am first stop on the hop today!  We were to choose our favorite image and favorite technique for today's card.  While it is very hard to pick an overall "favorite" image, I went with the newest Birdbrain because it seems that each one that comes out is my new favorite!  My favorite techniques are Magic Pencil and using loose glitter.  Love the stuff...it just makes me happy!  It doesn't matter that gets everywhere...including my face...I just love the sparkly goodness!  Here's my card:

I thought of this fun patterned paper I had bought, but not yet used, when I saw this image...I knew it would be perfect!  I've colored the image with pencils and added red glitter and Swarovski flatbacks to the glasses, along with white glitter to her eyelids and spots on her tummy.  I used the sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday and modified it a bit; it's flipped, the center panel is tilted, and I've placed the center element to the left to better accommodate the sentiment.  I've embellished simply with some mesh and a button.  I love how bright and cheery this turned out...I think it will go to my daughter.

Image: FTHS "Spectacular Birdbrain" Digital Set (Fundraiser set, currently unavailable in store.)
Ink: Printer
Paper: G.P. 110, SU! Summer Sun, PTI Dark Chocolate, Doodlebug Patterned Paper
Embellies: Martha Stewart Glitter in "Cherry Popsicle" and "Sugar Cube", Swarovski Flatback Crystals in "Smokey Topaz", PTI Pure Poppy Button, DMC Floss, Brown Mesh
Extras: Prismas/Crayolas/Goo Gone, Scor-Pal, Foam Tape

Here are some fun questions for the "Meet the Design Team" portion of the hop!

What is something about you that none of the other team members know?
I have "twin toes", meaning my 2nd and 3rd toes are almost completely conjoined on both feet.  Strange, but true!

*"Webbed toes is the common name for syndactyly affecting the feet.  It is characterised by the fusion of two or more digits of the feet.  This is normal in many birds, such as ducks; amphibians, such as frogs; and mammals, such as kangaroos.

Who is the last person you sent a card to?
A member of the Secret Sister Swap I'm in.

Describe your crafting space.
Cluttered!  I have a beautiful studio with skylights, but I prefer to use the dining room table since I can still be close to my family.  From time to time (usually when there is zero table space left) I tidy up but as soon as I make a card it is a mess again!

Why do you like to make handmade cards?
I like the sense of accomplishment when I finish (that is, if it turns out!)...it's a mini piece of art.

What is your best coloring tip?
Plan your card before you start; choose your papers and embellishments and color the image to coordinate.  Also, if it isn't turning out it's okay to throw it away...it's only paper!

What is a good tip for printing digital images?
Resize!  That is what is so awesome about digis...you can tailor them to your project, whatever the size may be.  If in doubt about the size, print it on a used piece of copy paper so you don't waste cardstock.

Now head on over to Brenda's blog to check out her fabulous creation!

Thanks for hopping along with us today; the hop will end on Monday, October 5th at 6:00 a.m.  Winners will be posted on the From the Heart Stamps blog on Wednesday, October 7th.

Happy Haunting

Good morning!  It's Freebie Friday at Bugaboo...you can snag this spooky image from the store!  I love the silhouette images; they're fun to print on patterned paper and often times there is no coloring which makes for a quick and easy card.

When I saw the sketch from Sunday Stamps I knew it was perfect for this silhouette.  I pulled out a 6x6 paper pad, selected two patterns, and then printed the image on a third "plain" pattern.  I added a few colored pencil accents to the image.  A bit of texture was added by distressing the edges, and instead of a sentiment I added some Swarovski flatbacks for embellishing.  Voila!  A quick and easy card!
