TCPTUES94

Happy Saturday! So glad I had the chance to get inky today! Hope you all are getting inky too!

Today I have The Cat's Pajamas Tuesday challenge for you; it was a sketch which is my very favorite! I also like working with Sprinkle and the gang...Sprinkle rocks!

I decided to go with a Valentine card since I recently bought some pretty new Valentine goodies. This DP is by KI Memories and it's exclusive to Archivers; I also bought the matching brads (I usually don't spring for the fancy ones, but I thought they were really cute!). I rarely get to Archivers, so when I do it is a real treat!

Sprinkle is stamped with Memento on PTI Vintage Cream; I added a bit of color with my Crayolas and some Barbara Trombley's Art Glitter in "Angel Dust" and "Pink Smoothie". The main panel on the sketch was a large one and I thought it was the perfect time to use one of my Jenni Bowlin Bingo cards. I finished off the card with a brad and some ribbon.

I had my doubts about how this card was going to turn out, but I like it. I was glad I was able to show the foil accents in the DP and the bit of glitter on Sprinkle with my photograph. What do you think?

It's Bellarific Friday!

Good morning! Yay, we made it to Friday! Of course it will be even better this afternoon, when the workday is done!

This week our challenge for Bellarific Friday was to make a birthday card. I chose Stella; I just love to glitter up her wand and crown.... It's fun to put on that final touch!

Stella is colored with Crayola Pencils/Goo Gone . I used a bit of Martha Stewart Crystal Extra Fine Glitter on her cake; I love the way it looks...like fine granulated sugar. It adds just a touch of glimmer.

I used some Pink Paislee DP that I found on a recent shopping trip. I have never used any before and it's really nice paper; double-sided too. To finish off the card, I used some chocolate Bella Dots. The sketch I used is from SCS; I just checked to link the thread, but I can't find it...will have to check that later.... What do you think?

Image: Stamping Bella
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: PTI Vintage Cream, Dark Chocolate, SU! Certainly Celery, Pink Paislee DP
Embellies: Bella Dots, Martha Stewart Crystal Fine Glitter, Doodlebug Glitter (yellow)
Extras: Crayolas/Goo Gone, Spellbinder's Nestabilities, Foam Tape

I hope you'll stop by Em's blog to check out all the fun creations!

Tuesday Morning Sketches #30: Hello

Good morning! Today my card for you features a digi stamp from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff. This little dragon fly reminds me of spring! We have been under a blizzard warning and experienced some really bad weather, so it's certainly a welcome reminder that good weather is around the corner....

The image is colored with Prismas and embellished with Barbara Trombley's Art Glitter in "Angel Dust". The wings have a gorgeous shimmer! I kept the rest of the card CAS so the focus would remain on the image. It's embellished simply with black Bella Dots and a "HeLLo" cut with my QuicKutz "Metro" dies. I also added a touch of black gel pen on the eyes; a trick I learned from my friend Larissa.

I hope you like it and that it reminds you of spring; please come play along with us at Tuesday Morning Sketches.

PTI Swap Card: Welcome, Little One

Hello there!

Today I finished up my PTI swap cards. There is nothing like waiting until the last minute, since they are due 02-01-10! I have been swapping with the same group over on SCS and they are a great bunch! My return swaps are awesome and just seem to keep getting better.....

I used the new Baby Button Bits for my card this time. For some reason, I generally make a baby card; I guess I just like making them! The layout I used is much like the one I used for a Stella card not too long ago. The BG strip is paper pieced and I spritzed the main panel with some Glimmer Mist (see close up). It is becoming one of my new favorite "toys"! The shimmer is just awesome; I like that you can spray it on lightly for a subtle shimmer or heavy and you have more of a splotchy, obvious shimmer...I like it both ways!
I hope the other swappers like it!

Lovestruck: 2 Challenges in 1

Since I was a bit short on time, I was happy to be able to do 2 challenges in 1! Usually for the MOJO Monday sketches I use my Verve stamps, but I thought this sketch would work well for the Valentine card challenge at The Cat's Pajamas too.
These adorable frogs were colored with Prismas and sprayed with a very light spritz of Glimmer Mist, before adding the pretty pink glitter eye shadow (I just couldn't resist!). See close up. Can't you just see that they are "lovestruck"? Indeed!
I used some new Bo Bunny papers; I like that they are distressed looking and I really love the text one. I like the look of mixing the distressed papers with clean lines and bling.
Image/Sentiment: The Cat's Pajamas
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select, Hibiscus Burst, Dark Chocolate, Bo Bunny DP
Embellies: Glimmer Mist in "Pearl", Barbara Trombley's Art Glitter in "Pink Smoothie", SU! Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon, Fancy Pants Designs Stickpin

Bellarific Friday: Butterfly Wishes

Happy Friday! The weekend is almost here....
The challenge this week was to use a 2 x 2 square. I had originally planned to use a partial image, but then I came across this mini and remember this SEI DP I had bought on sale. It's a great paper pack; the colors are gorgeous and there is a great assortment, including glittered and shimmer papers. This particular one went really nicely with PTI's Sweet Blush.
Butterflyabella is colored with Primas/Goo Gone and then the edges of the panel were sponged with Close To Cocoa ink. The mini butterflys are cut with a Martha Stewart punch, glittered with Barbara Trombley's Art Glitter in "Fossil" and lastly a Swarovski flatback crystal is placed in the middle. The Crystals are called "AB"; they kind of shine like opals and tend to pick up the color of their surroundings. I also used them on the chocolate butterflys. Can you tell I like bling? LOL

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, SU! Close to Cocoa
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select, Dark Chocolate, Sweet Blush, SEI "Chocolat" DP
Embellies: Swarovski Flatback Crystals, Barbara Trombley's Art Glitter in "Fossil"

SSHP14: Snowflakes Gone Wild!!!

I have really been into snowflakes lately, so when I found out that was the challenge at Saturday Spotlight with Hidden Potential this week, I just had to play! I also used a MOJO Monday sketch.

I received this cute Lily image from my friend Jessica and she has been sitting on my table for awhile now.... Just waiting for the right project.... I love the Pink Cat Studio images, but this Lily is just a bit different.... Can you tell what the difference is? She has no culiques! They are tucked inside of her hat! I think she is just the cutest!

I paper pieced Lily's outfit and that was a challenge! It took me a few tries to get the DP lined up "just so".... I think I've got the hang of it now! I added a touch of Martha Stewart Crystal Fine glitter to her hat brim and muff.

To make the snowflake, I used 3 different Spellbinders dies and glittered up the first and third layers and then embellished it with a brad. I used Art Glitter in "Fossil".

Not sure if you can see in the photo or not, but the strip across the top says "Winter Wonderland".

TMS#29: Baked with Love!!

Good Tuesday morning! This week Melissa has another sketch for us at Tuesday Morning Sketches. I thought it was really a fun one! As soon as I saw it, I started to imagine what I could put in the little circles.... So many possibilities! I did know that I wanted to do a "rainbow" effect. I decided to go with my little buddy Changito; I think he's just so darn cute!
The cupcakes were stamped, cut out with nesties, colored, and mounted on another nestie before adding just a touch of glitter to the candle flame. I used this Bella BLVD DP, which has become one of my favorites, because of the rainbow of colors it has.
Changito is stamped directly on the PTI Stamper's Select card base and colored. I love using the PTI CS; it has a rich, weighty feel to it and makes a very substantial card base.
I am liking how this card turned out; I like the mix of color, but yet it has some nice white space. Plus, Changito always puts a smile on my face!

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Good Saturday morning!
I knew Verve was coming out with a new release yesterday, but I have never followed along prior to the release. I would just wait and check the Verve store. Well, on SCS they posted all kinds of challenges where you could win stamps and goodies. I happened to stumble across the challenges yesterday afternoon and I whipped up this card quick; it worked for the color and sketch challenges. I was not a winner, but I still had fun playing and will definitely play along again nest time. I love a good challenge; especially the sketch ones!
It seems I rarely make a card without DP anymore, but as you can see this one has none. I just used the Cuttlebug snowflake folder to add some texture to the turquoise. The snowflakes are cut with Spellbinders dies and glittered up. The turquoise one was sponged with a bit of black before adding the glitter; I thought that might help it to blend in a bit better.
***Note: The snowflake looks off-kilter in the photo. It's not in real life, and I didn't notice it when I was taking the photo. I am wondering if it was the angle? Or maybe the edges were bent up too high is some places? I will have to remember to watch this next time.....***
Sentiment: Verve "Christmas in the Air"
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: SU! Basic Gray, Basic Black, Tempting Turquoise, PTI Stamper's Select
Embellies: Wright's Black Grosgrain Ribbon, Doodlebug Glitter, Spare Parts Black Brad
Extras: Cuttlebug Snowflake Embossing Folder, Spellbinders Nestabilities, Foam Tape
I am a person who does not like the cold, so my card reminds me to see the beauty now as well.... Children playing in the snow, the frost on the trees, the snow coming down heavy---those really are wonderful things!
Thanks for stopping; I hope you see some "wonderful" in your day!

It's Bellarific Friday!

Happy Friday! That means today is Bellarific Friday and this week our theme is "Lovey Dovey". For my card I used the little "Love Bug" Huggabugg; I think she's pretty lovey!
Love Bug is stamped, colored, sprayed with Glimmer Mist, and last the glitter was added to her wings. All that shimmery goodness was a bit hard to photograph, so I added a close up. In real life, the image is crisp and so shimmery!
I paper pieced the the middle panel; it's a really fun technique and so great for using up those leftover bits of DP (or not, since I don't always use leftovers!). I just cut a strip of copy paper to size, glued on the DP with a glue stick, and trimmed. Super easy! (Does anybody else love glue sticks? My favorite brand is Ross, and now I can't find them.... I really like them because you have a bit of "wiggle room" before they dry. I can never seem to get things straight my first try.... If you know of a good one, please let me know. Thanks!)
With all the shimmer, I kept the rest of the embellishing simple and added some chocolate Bella Dots to finish the card.

BSAT8: Yummalicious! Stella Loves Cocoa

Our challenge was three-fold: winter themed, use ink to distress the paper edges and post at SCS what distressing technique was used.
I used the direct to paper and sponging techniques, using SU! Chocolate Chip ink. I tried Close to Cocoa and found it wasn't dark enough. I also distressed the snowflakes before giving them a coating of sparkly goodness; today I used "Angel Dust" by Art Glitter.
Stella is colored with Prismas/Goo Gone; her crown and wand also have a touch of glitter. I chose to stamp the sentiment along the side of the image panel just for something different. Who doesn't think cocoa is "yummalicious"? Especially with marshmallows!

TMS28: Guess hoo loves you?

This week the theme over at Tuesday Morning Sketches is "Buttons and Bows" and the Sponsor is Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps.
I chose Olivia the Owl for my image, the sentiment is computer generated, and the DP is from Imaginisce's Perfectly Posh Collection.
Olivia is colored with Prismas/Goo Gone and the paper piecing on her tummy is sprayed with Shimmer Spritz in Cotton Candy. I stopped embellishing with her hair bow, but what I really wanted to do was give her a bit of glittery eye shadow! DD held me back with a firm "No"! The image is cut out and mounted with Spellbinders Nestabilities.
The brown button on the bow is from PTI and the others are from Autumn Leaves. I hired DD to thread the buttons and was really excited when she agreed! Problem is, she only lasted for 4 buttons! There are a total of 23! LOL

MOJO120: Hebrews 11:1

I am just squeaking by with this card tonight! Whew! (My brother had asked me for some computer help, which is a bit funny since I am not by any means a whiz! So, I was busy helping him.) This was a great MOJO Monday sketch; I think the layout was perfect for using a sentiment. Julee has some beautiful sentiments over at Verve, along with fabulous images.

I thought of this paper right away when sitting down to make this card. I found it at Stamping Bella and had to have it; funny thing is, I use very little mustard.... There was just something about it.... The patterns are beautiful and a sheet of diecuts was included in the package. I don't really use these, so I was so happy that I thought of using one of them for the sentiment. I did trim it with my Spellbinders after stamping.

I pretty much followed the sketch, including the embellishments. I wanted to let the paper and Bible verse shine. It is embellished simply with some satin ribbon and Swarovski crystals.

Sentiment: Verve

Paper: SU! Basic Gray, Basic Black, So Saffron, My Mind's Eye DP

ICCJAN10: Have you been naughty or nice?

I like to play the PTI swaps over on SCS; it's a great group of ladies and the cards always rock!
A lot of the group are really into scrapbooking, so Banu set up a blog to post scrapbooking and cardmaking challenges. Check it out here: Inspired Crafters. This is yesterday's card sketch; we were to make a Christmas card. I like the idea of making them throughout the year, so when Christmas rolls around I'll have a good selection to choose from.
I bought this Doodlebug paper and didn't get a chance to use it this past season, so I was glad to use some today. The red is flocked, so it has a really nice texture! I considered mounting it on red, but decided against it....
The chick is colored with Prismas/Goo Gone and the hat is embellished with glitter; it is super sparkly in real life! Barbara Trombley's Art Glitter really rocks; if you get the chance to, give it a try....
The sentiment is from Pink Cat Studio; I think it's kind of sassy!

Chicken Taco Soup

No card this morning, but I wanted to share a really good recipe. It was given to me by my friend Melissa who I "met" over on SCS.

I served it for supper last night and it is so good! My DH, DS and I all love it...DD won't touch it! LOL Maybe it's because she's a tween.... I say "black", she says "white"! Does this happen at anybody else's house?

Chicken Taco Soup
1 onion, finely chopped
1 can chili beans
1 can corn
1 large can tomato sauce
1 large can diced tomatoes/chilies
1 package taco seasoning
1 12 ounce can beer
2-3 chicken small chicken breasts
Combine all ingredients in Crock Pot. Cook on low for 5 hours. Remove chicken breasts and shred; return to pot for 1 hour.
I like to add a can of black beans as well. If you do, it won't fit in a 4 quart Crock Pot; you will need a larger one. Last night I substituted hominy for the corn and it tasted wonderful; really, you could add both.
I like to garnish the soup with shredded Co-Jack cheese, a dollop of sour cream and Fritos. You could also use black olives, green onions, etc.
***I think the "secret ingredient" is the can of beer. We are not drinkers, so I send DH out to buy a can of beer just so I can make this soup; it is really yummy!***
That's all for now.... I hope to be back later with a card. Stay warm and have a great day!

Bellariffic Friday: Back to School

This week's theme for Bellariffic Friday was "Back to School". I had found this fun computer-themed paper, which was on clearance, during a shopping trip a long time ago. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to use it, so my focus was the college girl going back to school.

The image was colored with Prismas/Goo Gone. I find coloring with the darker colors difficult for me.... If anybody has any tips, I would love to hear them! The card is embellished simply with a bit of glitter, some ribbon and Bella Dots (they rock!).

Image: Stamping Bella "Clickabella"

Well, it's my guess my monkeys won't be "back to school" today. School is already 2 hours late, with many around here being cancelled. We'll see....

Happy Birthday

Good morning! We had a bit of light, fluffy snow over night and the kids are home from school. It doesn't look bad in town, but it must be blowing in the country....
I was able to incorporate 2 challenges in today's card; I love it when that happens! The Cat's Pajamas Tuesday challenge was to use glitter (easy for me; love it!) and the sketch is from SCS Sketch Challenge.
I tried to make the upper left panel look like a present.... What do you think? Does it?
The image is colored with Crayolas and glitter paper/loose glitter is used liberally! I like the blue/chocolate color scheme...would love to have a chocolate frosted cupcake right now in fact!

Another Card Kit....

Good morning! We're having a bit of a heatwave here at 0 degrees, but it is still way too cold! Fast forward to summer; who doesn't like a bar-b-que? Mmmmm! Can you smell it?!
Here's my 2nd kit for the High Hopes swap. When I saw this cute paper with the ants and the ribbon and brads to match, I knew I had to get some. I like to coordinate the image with the kit contents, so I found this little grillmaster in my stash. You can't tell from the photo, but I added a bunch of large and small silver brads (I think they are behind the ribbon). Also the punched shapes are cut out of a silver metallic CS. I hope the other swappers will like it!
Image: High Hopes
Paper: Carlee's Creations, The Paper Studio, Silver CS
Ink: Momento Tuxedo Black
Embellies: White Grosgrain Ribbon w/Ants, Black Organdy Ribbon, Ant Brad, Spare Parts Large and Small Silver Brads
Extras: SU! Punches: Photo Corner, Round Tab, Word Window
We are forecasted to get a big storm today; the kids are already planning to get out of school early.... Along with the snow, the wind is supposed to pick up so it will be a good day to stay inside and stay warm.
Have a goodie!

Think Cocoa! (and some fun news....)

Good Tuesday morning! Are you all keeping warm? I don't even want to know the temp. outside, but I'm thinking a cup of hot cocoa would be pretty good right now!
Today's card uses Melissa's sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches. It was a fun sketch; I will have to say it was a bit of a challenge though.... I really loved the DP and didn't want to cover it up, but had to add the smaller panels . Then I thought of vellum and my problem was solved! I thought.... I forgot that you could see adhesive through vellum! Then I got the idea for the Bella Dots; good thing I had some chocolate colored ones!
Little "Changitette" is colored with pencils and her jammies/slippers are paper pieced. (I sure had fun cutting those out!) I added a bow to her hair, too. The snowflakes are Spellbinders dies that I coated with glitter.

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Sharpie Black Finepoint
Embellies: Chocolate Bella Dots, Barbara Trombley's Art Glitter in Polar Bag

And now for the fun news.... Since I have discovered Melissa's challenge blog, I have been a pretty loyal player. Melissa asked me awhile back if I would be a Guest Designer for the month of January! Of course I said "yes" without a moment's hesitation! She has a lot of fun in store for January, so I hope you will play along! Thanks Melissa for the fun opportunity!
I hope you all have a great day! Stay warm!

Jessica's Blog Candy!!!

My friend Jessica is celebrating her 1 year blogaversary and is giving away some awesome goodies! Check it out here. While you are there, take some time to check out her work; you will be glad you did!

Bella Twisted Challenge

The Bella Twisted Challenge was to use a Stamping Bella stamp that you havn't used before and to also incorporate the Pantone Colors for 2010. What fun this was! I went with the tomato, coral, and aurora with a splash of violet tossed in. I was searching throught my paper stash and found this paper and thought it was a bit "hippy chic" so I went with Beatrice Bellbottoms.

I have used this layout before and it works well with a tall, thin image. The image is colored with Prismas/Goo Gone and accented with a bit of glitter to go with the sparkle in the DP.

MOJO119: Snow Wonderful

I just love the MOJO Monday sketches; this one was really fun and versatile! I love sketch challenges in general; it's fun to see what stamp I can find that fits the layout. I do usually try to keep everything to scale, as close as I can, so I can stay true to the sketch.

I brought out this wonderful KI Memories DP; it's old, but I love it! The soft colors just make me want to add glitter...I love glitter! This was the first time I have used my Glimmer Mist on a project; although the kids and I have played around with it. Boy, does it shimmer! I also added some of my favorite glitter---Barbara Trombley's Art Glitter in Polar Bear. Love the stuff! It is messy, but so worth it! I also added some sparkly Bella Dots....

The image is colored with Prismas/Goo Gone and then sprayed with the Glimmer Mist. After cutting it out, I added the loose glitter to the hat. She is one glitzy little snowgirl!

Happy New Year!!!

Here's my entry for this week's TCP Tuesday challenge. The challenge was to make something "new". It could be a New Year's card, use new stamps, layout, etc. I decided I would go with a New Year's card, using paper and stamps that I havn't used before, so I guess they are "new" too!

This Heidi Grace DP was in a card kit I received in a swap; I really liked it, so when I saw a pack of the paper on sale at JoAnns I bought it...a long time ago! I hadn't opened the pack until today and I really like the papers; I think they are my new favorites! I was able to use 5 of the DPs on this card.

I stamped 2 extra balloons, paper pieced them and added them to the image. I also added some M.S. glitter to the hat, horn, and champagne bubbles. I also used some gorgeous black satin ribbon I found in my stash and some black Swarovski flatback crystals. I used the "Metro" QuicKutz alphabet for the numbers.

Image: The Cat's Pajamas "You Say it's Your Birthday", SU! "A Brand New Year"
Paper: PTI Aqua Mist, True Black, G.P. White, Heidi Grace "Reagan's Closet" DP
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Sharpie Black Finepoint
Embellies: Martha Stewart Crystal Fine Glitter, Swarovski Black Flatback Crystals, Black Satin Ribbon
Extras: Crayola Colored Pencils/Goo Gone, QuicKutz "Metro" Numbers, Foam Tape

Happy New Year to you; may 2010 be your best year ever!
