Joy in Jesus

Good morning!  We have a new sketch for you at From the Heart Stamps, along with a twist...Use Heat Embossing.  Here's the sketch:

I used one of Faith's cute snowmen and made a Christmas card for my stash.  I've colored the snowman with pencils and accented his hat and pocket with white glitter, along with adding glitter to his body, the stars, and the word "Joy".  Instead of a sentiment panel, I've printed the sentiment on the patterned paper; it's pretty easy to do, just measure carefully!  I put the banner behind the image and embellished with die cut snowflakes and buttons.  (In real life the buttons are a perfect match with the purple paper.  Does anyone know why the color of the buttons is "off" in the photograph?  Ugh...so frustrating!  This happens to me sometimes...not sure why.)

Hello Snowman

Good morning!  We have a new challenge for you from the ladies at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight Neva has chosen "Christmas with a Metallic Twist"...sounds pretty!

I've combined this challenge with this week's From the Heart Stamps sketch, which also has a twist..."Use Your Favorite Color".  That would be pink...of course!  Here's the sketch:

So...use the sketch, the color pink, Christmas themed, and metallic....  "Hello Snowman" (isn't this one of the cutest snowmen ever?!) is colored with pencils and mounted on die cuts.  I've rounded some of the corners of the metallic background patterned paper, to add a bit of interest, and embellished with a sparkly snowflake and hearts (they came in the stamp set).  I love the quirky pink and green for a Christmas card!  Check out the adorable "sweater" hearts, here's a close-up:

Please check out the Ruby's Rainbow DT creations here, along with the challenge details.  We would love to see your take on the challenge!

Sketch Saturday #388

Good morning sketch fans!  We have a fun new sketch for you to try, along with a new sponsor...Bunny Zoe's Crafts.  Here's Sketch #388 by Alex:

I combined the sketch with Catch the Bug's BINGO challenge, along with some other challenges.  Here's the BINGO card:

I went diagonally from the top left to bottom right...No Designer Paper-Texture-Bling.  I used JJ...I think this image gives a new meaning to the term "Ice Queen"!  LOL  JJ is colored with pencils and embellished with glitter and pearls.  I've dry embossed the 2 panels with snowflakes and dots, and embellished the card with another snowflake and a smattering of pearls.  I usually use patterned paper, so this is a bit different for me; I do like all the white though.  Here's a detail close-up:

Good morning sketch fans!  I have a clean and simple card to share using this week's
From the Heart Stamps sketch; along with the sketch is the twist to use "lots of white...add color with embellishments".  Check out the sketch:

What a fun challenge this was!  I enjoy making a clean and simple card now and then.  "Party Hat Birdbrain" is colored with pencils and accented with glitter.  I've done some simple layering and added buttons with colored bling in the center for embellishing.  I really LOVE this sentiment!  It' kind of how I feel when I have a birthday....

give thanks

Good morning!  It's "Oldie But Goodie" Day at Catch the Bug...I love going through all Jodie's images to find one that strikes my fancy!  I decided to go with a Thanksgiving theme today...this Ruby image is perfect!

Ruby is colored with pencils; I bet you're wondering why Ruby's dress is red?  If you look closely at the DP you will see that some of the words are written in red, I wanted to add an extra splash of color.  I've embellished simply with a sentiment and mini brads.  The sketch is from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.

happy holly days

Good morning!  It's time for a new challenge at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight Shaz has chosen our challenge and she would like to see "Red, White, and Blue".  Sounds fun!

Of course, I immediately thought patriotic, but then I saw the scraps of patterned paper on my table from a card I had recently made...I decided to go Christmas because aqua is blue, right?!  You bet!  I thought of my Santa Chick image (yes, I have a "thing" for chicks/birds!) and went in search of a sketch to use that would work with a smaller image.  I found the perfect sketch at Jo's Scrap Shack:

The chick is colored with pencils and her hat, the holly berry, and the ornament are accented with 3 different kinds of glitter.  I have done some simple layering with the image panel and switched placement to the opposite side so the chick wasn't looking off the edge.  The holly leaves with the sentiment were stamped on white, cut out, colored, and adhered in place.  Funny how it seemed like such a great idea until I was trying to cut those tiny leaves out..lol!  I've also added a touch of glitter to the holly berries in the sentiment.  Sadly, the photo does not capture the sparkly goodness of this card.

Hogs and Kisses!

Good morning!  We have a fun new sketch for you at From the Heart Stamps, along with a new "twist" to "spotlight or 3D parts of the image".  Here's the sketch:

I went with the "twist" only this week.  I had already printed Pumpkin PigWit twice, with the intent of paper piecing, and wanted to use the fall image since I will soon be moving on to Christmas images.  The image is colored with pencils and Pigwit's eyes are dotted with a gel pen.  I've cut out (and popped up) his "hat", snout, the center portions of the pumpkins, and some of the leaves.  I pulled some fall patterned paper from my stash and decided to pick up the blue dot in the background...even though I have colored nothing in the image blue...theory being that blue and orange are complementary colors.  I wasn't sure how it would look, but I like it!  I've added a bit of ribbon and a diecut heart with an extra sentiment.  This is a really fun technique to do and it does add a lot of interest to the image...give it a try!

Here's a close-up of the 3D detail:

Sketch Saturday #386

Good morning Sketch Saturday fans!  We have a new sketch for you, along with a new sponsor...Bugaboo!  One of my favorites for sure!  Check out this week's sketch:

I went with Margaret...I love that she is rather cheeky!  She's colored with pencils and I've paired her with my favorite "Get Well" papers (sadly, after this card I am down to scraps only...I'll have to get creative to use them!).  I've done some simple layering and added a sentiment.  Now I'm wondering if my sentiment is too bold?  Maybe I should have printed it on the blue and used a small red border...what do you think?  Maybe I'll add some red brads in the opposite corner....  Speaking of brads, does anyone besides me like them?  I rarely see them used anymore.

Ink: Printer
Paper: G.P. 110, PTI Blueberry Sky and Pure Poppy, Frances Meyer Patterned Paper
Extras: Prismas/Goo Gone, Spellbinders Nestabilities, Foam Tape

From the Heart Stamps November Blog Hop: CAS and Over the Top

Good morning!  It's time for From the Heart Stamps November Blog Hop; our theme this month is "CAS and Over the Top"...hop along for some fabulous inspiration from the DT!

As you hop along, please leave a comment on each entry.  One random commentor will be selected on each blog to win an image of choice from Faith's store.

If you have arrived from the From the Heart Stamps blog you are in the right place, if not why don't you start at the From the Heart Stamps blog so that you don't miss anything.  We were challenged to make 2 cards this month...one "clean and simple" and the other "over the top".  Here's my CAS card:

I choose one of Faith's adorable snowmen, Blowing Kisses, and used the sketch from the Cheerful Sketches Challenge Blog. For my CAS version, I kept it really simple with clean lines, minimal layering, a touch of glitter on the red heart, and just a single snowflake for embellishing.  Next up is my Over the Top card:

Here are the changes I have made for my Over the Top version:

1. Downsized the image and added a sentiment.
2. Printed an extra image so I could pop up the hat, gloves, nose and foot for added dimension.
3. Colored the hat and gloves a bit darker than the CAS version, to help balance the addition of the red.
3. In addition to glitter on the heart, I have added glitter to the hat and gloves.  (I've used 3 kinds of glitter!)
4. I've added red to the aqua/white color scheme.
5. I've added another background layer, and matted all layers for definition.
6. I've added 2 extra snowflakes.

Here is a detail shot of the image panel:

Image: FTHS "Blowing Kisses" Digital Image
Ink: Printer
Paper: G.P. 110, Gina K. Designs Pure Luxury. PTI Pure Poppy, Lawn Fawn Patterned Paper
Embellies: Martha Stewart Glitters-Crystal Fine, "Sugar Cube", and "Candy Apple"
Extras: Prismas/Goo Gone, Spellbinder's Snowflake Dies, Foam Tape

Now head on over to Brenda's blog to check out her fabulous creation!

ABC Monday

Good morning!  It's "Anything But a Card" day at Catch the Bug!  Today I have made a bookmark, and a simple card to present it in.  I've been playing along with the Splitcoaststampers Hope You Can Cling To challenges; this one is for the "Tag, You're It!" challenge.  I thought it would be fun to turn the tag into a bookmark!

The image is colored with pencils and the halo and wings are accented with glitter.  I've used a PTI die to cut the bookmark and have added some fibers to the top.  For the card, I've added a pocket decorated simply with brads.  This is how the card and bookmark look together:

Ink: Printer
Paper: Gina K. Designs Luxury White, SU! Pretty in Pink, MAMBI Patterned Paper
