Catch the Bug...Oldie But Goodie
Good morning! It's Oldie But Goodie day at Catch the Bug and I chose this cute little Troll to color. She reminds me of the Trolls I played with as a child; I guess I didn't really like to play with them, I liked to sew them clothes! Anybody else out there play with Trolls...or sew their clothes?!
I've colored her to coordinate with this yummy Doodlebug patterned paper. The sketch is from Sketch Saturday and I've embellished simply with a sentiment banner and a die cut heart. Here's a close-up:

Catch the Bug...Anything But a Card
Good morning! Monday means Anything But a Card at Catch the Bug. I've used one of my favorite Christmas images and decorated a tin filled with Hershey's Nuggets. This is such an easy item to create and have on hand...just in case you need a "little something" unexpectedly!
The image is colored with pencils and I've added some die cuts for embellishing. The candy is wrapped with a strip of patterned paper and the image is attached to a band so it will easily slide on and off the tin.

Catch the Bug: Anything But a Card
Good morning...it's Monday so that means it's Anything But a Card at Catch the Bug! Since Christmas is just around the corner, I'm going with some gift packaging. I really love these gable boxes from Hobby Lobby. They are easy to decorate, fill with paper shred, add a gift...voila'! Cute and easy peasy!
I've colored these adorable reindeer with pencils; I love how their eyes appear to be peeping at me! LOL I've added a band to the box, popped the image up with foam tape, and added some glittery star die cuts. Here's a close-up:

Catch the Bug's Christmas in July: Make Us Laugh
Welcome back to Day 5 of Catch the Bug's annual Christmas in July! It's Wednesday,or Humor Me Wednesday as we like to call it at Catch the Bug, so our theme is "Make Us Laugh". Again, our theme is "The Best Christmas Movies Ever", so here are your inspiration movies for today's challenge:
Can anyone guess the movie I used for inspiration? National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation! This movie is a favorite of my family and my inspiration was Aunt Edna's cat! I'm pretty sure her name is Edna...can anyone confirm or deny that? The scene where her cat is in the Christmas tree is a hoot! I also believe there's cat food in her jello...ugh! LOL I've colored this little cutie with pencils and used an old sketch from the archives of Sketch Saturday. I was loving the plaid so much that I didn't want to cover it up, so I used a piece of vellum, adhered with mini brads, for one of the layers. Problem solved...a little extra oomph without covering the plaid. I'm curious, does anyone out there enjoy using brads anymore? I've always liked them. Here's a close-up:

Catch the Bug's Christmas in July: Anything But a Card
Welcome to Day 3 of Catch the Bug's annual Christmas in July! It's Monday, Anything But a Card day, so we would like to see a tag or gift packaging. Again, our theme is "The Best Christmas Movies Ever" so here is your inspiration movie for today's challenge:
I've chosen this adorable old fashioned Santa to color; I've used pencils, then added some glitter to his fur trim and the star. I've used a Kraft gable box (I love these!) and added a band and some die cut stars. Simple but fun...it'll be fun to give a little goodie in this box! Here's a close-up:

Catch the Bug's Christmas in July: Sketch Challenge
Welcome to Day 2 of Catch the Bug's annual Christmas in July! It's Sunday so that means we have a sketch for you:
Again, the theme is "The Best Christmas Movies Ever" so here is your inspiration movie for today's challenge:
I chose DeDe Christmas Bells...because she has jingle bells and because I like her quirkiness! She's colored with pencils and accented with glitter. Gray isn't a typical color I'd use for a Christmas card, but I think it works with the pop of red. I did a bit of distressing and used ribbon and enamel dots for embellishing. Here's a close-up:
Image: Bugaboo DeDe Christmas Bells Digital Image
Ink: Printer
Paper: Neenah CS, PTI Smokey Shadow, Pure Poppy, and New Leaf CS, Simple Stories Patterned Paper
Extras: Prismas/Crayolas/Goo Gone, SU! Red Grosgrain Ribbon, Eyelet Outlet Enamel Dots, Martha Stewart Crystal Fine Glitter, Art Glitter in "Angel Dust", Spellbinders Nestabilities, Lil' Inker Designs Die (heart), Foam Tape

Catch the Bug's Annual Christmas in July: The Best Christmas Movies Ever
Welcome to Day 1 of Catch the Bug's annual Christmas in July! This year our theme is "The Best Christmas Movies Ever" and to kick off the festivities we have a Theme Challenge for you! The choices are The Santa Claus, Miracle on 34th Street, or A Charlie Brown Christmas:
I went with A Charlie Brown Christmas. I've watched this countless times over the years; first as a child, then with my children. I chose the image AKV Christmas Tree, which gives a nod to both the animation and Charlie Brown's simple Christmas tree.
I've colored the image with pencils and added a healthy dose of glitter. I like the vintage vibe of the paper paired with the crisp white card base and modern embellishments...a juxtaposition of old and new. Here's a close-up:
Ink: Printer
Paper: Neenah CS, PTI Stamper's Select, New Leaf, and Pure Poppy CS, Simple Stories Patterned Paper
Extras: Prismas/Crayolas/Goo Gone, Art Glitter in Angel Dust, Doodlebug Sprinkles in Limeade Glitter, Lil' Inker Designs Die (heart), Spellbinders Nestabilities (circle), Foam Tape

Note: The color palette for Friday's challenge inspired my paper choice for this week's cards. I thought immediately of a Simple Stories 6x6 paper pad in my stash and decided to use it all week. I thought it would be fun to use the same color palette but vary the style of both the images and the cards. A bit of a challenge within a challenge!

What the Fruit Cake?
Good morning...welcome back to Day 6 of Awkward Holiday Chaos at Catch the Bug! Our theme today is "What the FRUIT CAKE?"...make a project using the color scheme below:
Dottie is printed on Cryogen...I just love the subtle sparkle...and colored to match the fruit cake. (Do we have any fruit cake lovers out there? I have never tried it!) I've added a healthy dose of glitter and went all white with the card; the card base is Cryogen and layers are both textured vellum and Cryogen. The sketch is an oldie from Sketch Saturday #374. Here's what I've created:

We Wish You a Sketchy Christmas
Good morning...welcome back to Day 2 of Awkward Holiday Chaos at Catch the Bug! Our theme today is We Wish You a Sketchy Christmas...that's right, we have a sketch for you. Actually sketch challenges are my very favorite challenge; how about you, what's your favorite type of challenge? Here's the sketch:
Here's what I have created for you:
The image is printed on Cryogen CS so it has a wonderful sparkle which unfortunately didn't translate to the photo. I had fun coloring this one with my colored pencils! I've done a bit of distressing and added a die cut sentiment along with my signature heart.

Paper: Cryogen CS, SU Baja Breeze CS, PTI Enchanted Evening CS, Echo Park Patterned Paper
