Jingle-balls

Good morning!  It's Tuesday so that means we have another sketch for you from Tuesday Morning Sketches
.  We also have a twist; this week is our judged challenge and we would like to see you use snowmen or jingle bells...or both...on your creations!

I remembered this fun Whipper Snapper stamp and thought it would be perfect...snowmen and jingle bells!  The image is colored with pencils and I've added some subtle glitter to the Santa hat and jingle bells.  I used some paper that I've had in my stash for years; I shabbied it up a bit by applying ink to the edges, then white paint, followed by a dusting of glitter.  I embellished simply with red grosgrain ribbon and a snowflake.  I also applied ink, paint, and glitter to the patterned layer of the snowflake and finished it with a jingle bell brad.

TMS#118

Good morning Tuesday Morning Sketches fans! Melissa has another fun sketch for you this week. Our sponsor is Robyn's Fetish, you can check out her goodies here.

As I was looking through my stamps in search of inspiration, I came across this fun Stampendous stamp and decided I would make a baby card. I love making baby cards! I colored the image with pencils and accented the heart on the baby chick's bib with glitter. The image is cut out with Spellbinder's Nestabilities and popped up. I used some brads for embellishing...I thought the buttons were perfect for the baby theme.

TMS#115: Inspiration Challenge, Plus Pink

Good morning! It's time for another fun challenge from Tuesday Morning Sketches. Today it is an inspiration challenge and our sponsor is Sassy Studio Designs (love their images!) When I saw the tote bag, I thought of a gorgeous floral/strip DP combo in my stash and knew it would be perfect. However, when I received my image I had to make a new plan...my autumn DP just didn't jive with the winter theme! So, I had a winter image, an autumn tote bag, and I had to add pink to the mix.... Hmmm.... This is what I came up with....

The elements I took from the photo were the touch of brown and the square shape of the tote bag. I have had this October Afternoon paper in my stash and knew it would be perfect...I love pink for a winter card...nice and quirky!

The image is colored with pencils and I added a bit of subtle glitter to the fur on Honey's outfit. I did a bit of sponging and diecutting, added some Baker's Twine and Bella Dots and called it good. I think Honey is gorgeous and she was really fun to color; here's a close-up of her pretty face. Love her eyes!

Image: Studio Sassy Designs Digital Stamp
Ink: Pallette Burnt Umber
Paper: PTI Vintage Cream and Dark Chocolate, SU! Melon Mambo, October Afternoon DP, The Paper Studio Vellum
Embellies: Martha Stewart Crystal Fine Glitter, Bella Dots in "Chocolate", PTI Baker's Twine in "Chocolate"
Extras: Prismas/Crayolas/Goo Gone, Spellbinder's Dies, The Paper Studio Sticky Doos

I used the sketch from Card Patterns, but I flipped it. Did you notice that I switched up the panels? By mistake! The upper left section should be the smallest one; when I flipped the pieces over to tape them together I must have forgot to reverse them. It turned out okay though...I think the big, pink snowflake looks good on the cream background.

You can check out the rest of the DT's cards here. Now it's your turn! I would love to see what you come up with using the inspiration photo and the color pink....

Thanks for stopping by!

***I just realized I did a major faux pas and didn't use our TMS sketch! Didn't realize there was one until I read Melissa's blogpost from today.... My bad....

TMS#105

Good Tuesday morning! Tuesday means it's time for another sketch; this week our sketch was drawn by Kathleen. It's a fun one with lots of possibilities! I decided to go with one of the Peeps and some October Afternoon DP...a little coloring and paper piecing too....

Image/Sentiment: Stamping Bella "Knitting Peep"
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Paper: SU! Poppy Parade, PTI True Black, October Afternoon DP
Embellie: Black Grosgrain Ribbon (my stash)
Extras: Prismas/Crayolas/Goo Gone, Spellbinder's Nestabilities, The Paper Studio Sticky Doos

I thought this was a really versatile sketch...can't wait to see what the rest of the DT comes up with. Hop on over to the Tuesday Morning Sketches blog to check them out! Better yet, I'd love to see what you come up with!

Thanks for stopping by; have a great week!

June Sketch For You To Try

Hi there! I am cutting the deadline really close with this card...I made it by about 3 hours! Good grief; I have had the whole month of June! It's a great sketch, so I'm glad I got to use it.... Stamping Bella is the June sponsor for Jen del Muro's SFYTT, and I just received some goodies last week, so I had to use this cute, little Peep! Isn't she just a doll in her snazzy, red raingear?

It took forever for me to pick out a paper combo...does anybody else ever have that problem? I finally decided on some October Afternoon DP from various pads. The little Peep is colored with pencils and her umbrella was paper pieced. I embellished with some lacy black trim, a red felt rose and some Swarovski crystals.

Image: Stamping Bella "Umbrella PEEP"
Paper: SU! Real Red, PTI True Black, October Afternoon DP
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Embellies: Black Ribbon (my stash), Swarovski Flatback Crystals in "Topaz"
Extras: Prismas/Goo Gone, Spellbinder's Nestabilities, MFT Die-namics Rolled Rose Die, The Cat's Pajamas CutUp Die (leaves), The Paper Studio Sticky Doos

Here's a photo of the card I was about to upload. Something just wasn't right, and I decided that the black strip was just too wimpy. I removed some of the embellies, added a thicker strip over the first strip, replaced the embellies and voila'! Much better! Still somewhat lacey, but more substantial to ground the rose.

Thanks for stopping by!

MFTWSC22

I took a bit of time to play along with MFT's sketch challenge today. I have to say this didn't turn out as I envisioned, but it is growing on me just the same.... I thought this was a really neat sketch; I have another idea brewing, so I may have to try this one again.

Sentiment: MFT
Paper: PTI Kraft and Pure Poppy, October Afternoon DP
Ink: SU! Real Red
Embellie: Wright's Red Grosgrain Ribbon
Extras: MFT Die-namics Grass, Kite, and Cloud Dies, MFT Felt, Spellbinder's Nestabilities, PTI Pure Poppy Baker's Twine, The Paper Studio Sticky Doos

SC324: Life is a Journey, Not a Destination

Good morning and "Happy St. Patrick's Day"! My card today has just a bit of green, so all is well! Yesterday my daughter was talking about wearing green so she wouldn't get pinched.... Next thing I know, she shows me her lovely green manicure! Only it wasn't nail polish, but green Silly Putty...oh my!

On to the crafty stuff.... Yesterday I made time to play the SCS sketch challenge. It was a fairly easy sketch which showed a flower embellishment. At first all I could think of to use was a flower, but then I thought of the MFT kite die. As I was getting that out, I noticed the cloud die and went from there. The DP used for the kite is by Cosmo Cricket and was sent to me in a birthday package from my friend Patti; thank you Patti, Cosmo Cricket paper rocks! The sentiment is from PTI. For being such a simple card, it took me awhile to put it all together. I did have fun moving the elements around before I glued them down. I do like how this card turned out, so maybe I am coming out of my funk! Yay!

Sentiment: PTI "Year of Flowers: Gladiolus"
Ink: SU! Real Red
Embellies: PTI Felt and Baker's Twine
Extras: MFT Kite and Cloud Dies, EK Success 3D Dots

That's all I have for today; thanks for stopping by!

Mojo Monday #165

Hello! How is your weekend going? Mine seems to be going too fast. How about you?

I really wanted to make a card today, but found I had absolutely no mojo. I checked out the gallery at SCS and did a little blurfing; I finally found some inspiration when I saw the Mojo Monday sketch. I found even more inspiration when the postman came.... I had been waiting for a package from PTI and it arrived today! Yay! I was waiting for Dawn Mc Vey's dress form die especially; I loved it the minute I saw it....

The whole vintage, shabby-chic style has really been catching my eye lately. I received a package, from a stamping buddy, in the mail recently. It had some beautiful papers, gorgeous Tim Holtz buttons, crochet lace and a darling stamp. I was mesmerized. Then a couple of days ago I saw a sneak peek at the new SU! Occasions Mini; it's full of wonderful stuff. It seems this style is all around me and I'm trying to figure out how to make it work, because it's not really my style.... It's out of my comfort zone.... Today's card was a step in the right direction I think; I'm not there yet, but I'm getting closer.

The sketch was a fun one; I did make my interior panel a bit smaller just to show off the fun DP on the cardbase. The DP is all from an October Afternoon pad called "The Thrift Shop". All other supplies are PTI. The only thing stamped on this card is the sentiment. I had a lot of fun just playing around with the buttons and ribbons, trying to come up with just the right "look". I ended up leaving the ribbon off and opted for a rickrack border. I also cut 2 of the dress form die, just to make it a bit sturdier, since I wanted to pop it up.

Sentiment: PTI Signature Series: Dress Form
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: PTI Simply Chartreause and True Black, October Afternoon DP
Embellies: PTI Buttons
Extras: PTI Dress Form and Rickrack Dies, DMC Floss, Spellbinder's Nestabilities, EK Success 3D Dots, Glue Dots

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you are enjoying your weekend and are taking some time to get crafty...whatever your style may be!

Bellarific Friday: Sketch Challenge

Good morning! Our challenge this week on Blogabella was a sketch. My order arrived yesterday and I was planning to use the new Little Peeps Flower Vase, but the stamp was too big.... It was 10:30 and I had already cut the card base and layers...I was too tired to start over! Note to self: plan ahead! Look at the size of the stamp first! The list could go on and on.... I have a stamping friend who is having a birthday, so I went with a birthday theme instead.
I used the October Afternoon Thrift Shop DP. I really like the text one.... BEE-day HUGGABUGG is colored with pencils and glittered up. I did a bit of sponging on the image panel to "age" it a bit like the paper. I used some layered felt and a button for embellishment...not sure, maybe I should have went with a smaller flower?
Stamp: Stamping Bella
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, SU! Creamy Caramel
Paper: PTI Vintage Cream and Aqua Mist, SU! Basic Black, October Afternoon "Thrift Shop" DP
Embellies: Black Grosgrain Ribbon, PTI and MFT Felt, PTI Button and Button Twine, Barbara Trombley's Art Glitter "Angel Dust"
Extras: Prismas/Crayolas/Goo Gone, Spellbinders Nestabilities, PTI Flower Die
Thanks for stopping by today! Have a good one!

Bellarific Friday: Paper Piecing

Good morning! I'm so glad Friday is here.... What a week it has been! I'm looking forward to maybe sleeping in tomorrow.... How about you?

The challenge this week at Blogabella was to paper piece; I love paper piecing! I have paper pieced this little cutie's jammies before. It was easy to do, it just takes a bit of patience with the cutting. I combined this challenge with last Saturday's SFYTT.

I started out making the boy card, and as I was making it I thought it would be fun to use the same layout and make it a bit more girly. I just made a few changes:

1. Cream card base instead of Kraft

2. Delicate scallops

3. Satin ribbon instead of twill

4. Bow instead of Bella dots

The images are colored with pencils before adhering the jammies, then I popped the image panel up for a bit of dimension.

Image: Stamping Bella

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, SU! Black Marker

Paper: PTI Vintage Cream and Dark Chocolate, October Afternoon "Fly a Kite" DP

Embellies: PTI Dark Chocolate Twill, PTI Dark Chocolate Satin Ribbon, Bella Dots, PTI Button

Extras: Prismas/Crayolas/Goo Gone, Spellbinder's Nestabilities, MFT Die-namics, EK Success 3D Dots

I have a little tip to show you regarding paper piecing. I always try to use my supplies wisely, so I stamp the image on the background piece of DP, being careful to stamp it where it will be covered with layers. This way I don't have to use extra paper for the piecing. Maybe you already do this, but I thought I would pass it along.

This is what my card looks like before I add the layers. It looks a bit strange, but you can't see the "hole" when the card is finished.
If you leave a comment on the Blogabella post, you may be lucky enough to win some Bella Bucks, or better yet, play along for a chance to win even more Bella Bucks!
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a great day!
