Color Challenge (+Freebie Friday!)

Good morning!  It's Day 7 (and the final day) of Catch the Bug's Christmas in July celebration!  Today we have a color challenge for you; I don't know about you, but a color challenge really is a challenge for me!  Here's the color palette:

Thankfully the colors are really pretty!  The presents in today's Freebie Friday image made it pretty simple to implement the colors...whew!  Rudolph is colored with pencils and I turned the image panel into a tag.  (Yes, that is an eyelet on the tag!  When is the last time you used an eyelet?  It has been so many years for me that I had to search for my tools!  I do have a great assortment of eyelets though...this one is Doodlebug.)  I used a fun die with Santa's reindeer names and added ribbon and buttons for embellishing.  (Just in case you noticed....  The green ribbon really does coordinate with the paper...and Rudolph's green shirt and the button!  It is frustrating when the camera doesn't capture the true color; why does it look grayish?  If anyone know how to remedy this, I would love to hear your tips!)  Here's a close-up:

Birthday Blog Hop

Good morning!  It's time for From the Heart Stamps December Blog Hop; our theme this month is "Birthdays"...hop along for some fabulous inspiration from the DT!

As you hop along, please leave a comment on each entry.  One random commentor will be selected on each blog to win an image of choice from Faith's store.

If you have arrived from the From the Heart Stamps blog you are in the right place, if not why don't you start at the From the Heart Stamps blog so that you don't miss anything.

We were challenged to create a birthday card related to our birth month...we would like each of you to guess which month that is!  After you've completed the hop, email your answers to Faith for the chance to win a $15 FTHS voucher.  We would also like to challenge you to create a birthday card and link up here for the chance to win a $10 FTHS voucher...you have until January 3, 2016 to enter!

For my card today I have used the adorable  "Five Party Birds". The image is colored with pencils and I've layered the card base with white vellum and a white embossed panel (sheet music for the birds to sing "Happy Birthday"); I've embellished simply with a vellum strip and twill.

Ink: Printer
Paper: Gina K. Designs Pure Luxury CS, PTI Vellum
Embellie: White Twill
Extras: Prismas/Crayolas/Goo Gone, Sizzix "Sheet Music" Embossing Folder, Foam Tape

By looking at my card, can you guess what month I was born in?  I will give you a few hints:

1. I live in Iowa, so by the time my birthday rolls around I am praying for warm weather and the sound of the birds.
2. I have had birthdays where the weather is warm, or birthdays where the ground was covered with snow.
3. My birth month has 5 letters in it.

Now head on over to Brenda's blog to check out her fabulous creation!

Thanks for hopping along with us today; the hop will end on Monday, December 7th at 6:00 a.m.  Winners will be posted on the From the Heart Stamps blog on Wednesday, December 9th.

Challenges entered:

Cards in Envy: Put Some Extra Layers On
Crafting From the Heart: Anything Goes
Crafting With an Attitude: Anything Goes
Everybody Art Challenge: Music Note Paper (embossed)

Humor Me Wednesday + BINGO

Good morning!  Welcome to Day 5 of Catch the Bug's Christmas in July!  Today is Humor Me Wednesday plus BINGO, check it out:

I went with Gertrude and the top horizontal row of the BINGO card.  Gertrude is colored with pencils and I've added Glossy Accents to her glasses...this is a step I don't often take because I am too impatient to let it dry!  I'm glad I did though...the dimension and shine really look nice in real life!  I've also added silver brads for shine along with an embossed red strip.  I opted for a bit of sparkle too with the silver glitter strip.  I don't think you can ever have enough sparkle and shine!

Image: Bugaboo "Gertrude-Tinsel in a Tangle" Digital Image

Yes, Virginia....

Good morning!  It's time for another challenge from the ladies at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight, Lesley has chosen "Vintage" for our challenge theme.  Sounds good, right?  I went with Christmas...it's right around the corner, you know!

I've had this stamp and DP in my stash for quite awhile and had always planned on pairing them.  I distressed my papers and added some die cut holly spritzed with Glimmer Mist and tied with twine, some pearls, and glass glitter (love the chunky look of it...so pretty!).

Sentiment: Penny Black
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: PTI Vintage Cream, SU! Cameo Coral, October Afternoon DP
Embellies: SU! Glass Glitter, PTI Twine, Spare Parts Pearls, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in "Pearl"
Extras: Sizzix Holly Die, The Paper Studio Sticky Doos

I hope you will hop on over to Ruby's Rainbow to check out the vintage creations; why not play along?

Tuesday Morning Sketches #147

Good morning (again!); I'm back with another challenge from Tuesday Morning Sketches.  Our sponsor this week is Clear Dollar Stamps; and I was lucky enough to have my choice of images.  I chose the set "Little Strawberry"...and it's in color!  I couldn't resist the chocolate strawberry...it looks so yummy!

I printed the sentiment, strawberry, and flower/leaf combo, then cut out the images and mounted them on the sentiment panel.  I kept the cardbase clean and simple with an embossed panel and a bit of brown to highlight the chocolate strawberry.
