Summer Fun + A Recipe
Good morning! We have a new challenge for you at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight I chose the challenge and it is...Summer Fun + A Recipe...1 Image, 2 Patterned Papers, 3 Embellishments. Sound Fun? Good, I hope you will play along!
I combined this challenge with some others at Paper Playful...sometimes it's fun to see how many challenges you can incorporate! I used one of Faith's adorable Birdbrains and colored her up in a bright, cheery summer palette. Of course, I've used some glitter to enhance the image! I've embellished with a sparkly sun and some clouds, plus the 3 buttons. Here's a close-up:

Hip to be Square
Good morning! We have a new challenge for you at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight Helen has chosen our challenge and it is..."Hip to be Square"! I've combined it with Catch the Bug's Humor Me Wednesday; humor holidays for this week are:
June 19th: Family Awareness Day and Father's Day
June 21st: Go Skateboarding Day, National Selfie Day, Tall Girl Appreciation Day, and World Music Day
June 22nd: Stupid Guy Thing Day
June 23rd: Let It Go Day
June 24th: International Fairy Day or Fairie Day and Take Your Dog to Work Day
I went with "International Fairy Day", in a square format of course! The image is colored with pencils and I've accented her wings with glitter. I used my new Gina Marie dies and matted them with Spellbinders dies...it's nice to let the dies do all the work instead of painstakingly measuring and cutting! I've embellished simply with a button.
Image: Bugaboo "Fairy Rose" Digital Image
Ink: Printer
Paper: G.P. 110 CS, PTI Stamper's Select CS, SU! Summer Sun CS, Basic Grey Patterned Paper

Ruby's Rainbow...Anything Goes
Good morning! It's time for a new challenge from the ladies at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight Helen P. has chosen our challenge and it is Anything But a Card...sounds fun!
Instead of papercrafts, I took a different route...beading! A friend of mine used to own a bead shop and I really became interested in creating jewelry...bracelets, necklaces, earrings. Such fun to play with/arrange the beads until you create something you like. This piece is made of oxidized silver, seed beads and stone beads.
Please check out the rest of the DT's creations here, along with the challenge details...we do hope you will play along!

Let it snow!
Good morning! We have a new challenge for you from the ladies at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight Silvi has chosen a Color Combo! She would like to see Red, Green, and White/Cream...sounds fun!
I immediately thought of Christmas and used one of Faith's Birdbrains that I already had printed. The image is colored with pencils and I've added some glittery "eye shadow". The sketch is from Mojo Monday; I've done some simple layering and embellished with a glittery snowflake and sentiment. I think the Birdbrain looks a bit disgruntled at the prospect of snow...the same way I feel! Here's a close-up:

Inner Tube Birdbrain
Good morning! It's time for a new challenge from the ladies at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight, Neva is challenging us to "Use a Transparent Element". Fun!
I used a Birdbrain and this week's From the Heart Stamps sketch for my card. My transparent element is clouds, die cut from recycled packaging. I've colored the image with pencils and added some glitter to the inner tube and her eyelids. The sun is die cut from sparkly CS, and the clouds are die cut from felt and acetate packaging. I've added some ribbon and a few buttons for embellishing. Here's a close-up of the embellishing:

April Showers Bring May Flowers
Good morning! It's time for another challenge from the ladies at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight Pat has chosen our challenge and it is..."April Showers Bring May Flowers"...what a fun theme!
I chose one of the adorable Calendar Chicks from my collection...I love them! (I use a lot of digis so it was fun to actually stamp for a change of pace!) As I was looking through my papers for a delicate floral, I came across this fun paper and knew it would be perfect. The chick is colored with pencils; her eyes are accented with a black gel pen, the umbrella is coated with glitter, and the flower has a pearl center. I've done some simple layering and embellished with a flower/pearl. Clean and simple...it's fun for a change! Here's a close-up:

I've used a cute and spring-y image and a fun mix of papers for my paper piecing and die cuts. The image is colored with pencils and her rain coat and boots are paper pieced; I've embellished with ribbon, Bella Baubles, and die cut clouds. I love the patterned papers...they are so bright and cheery!

Ruby's Rainbow "Show Us Something New"
Good morning! We are back from the holiday break with a new challenge for you; this fortnight Helen P. has chosen our challenge and it is "Show Us Something New." Think new supplies, new technique, etc. Sounds fun!
I went with a new die that I "gifted" myself! LOL I layered the die cut over patterned paper to add a bit of interest and accented the snowflakes with Swarovski flatback crystals. The crystals actually coordinate with the brown lettering, but they photographed darker. A quick and simple card! (Next time I will try a different method of adhering the die cut...I used a glue stick. With all the detail, maybe a Xyron would be easier? Anyone have any ideas?)
Paper: G.P. 110 CS, Carolees Creations Patterned Paper
Embellies: Swarovski Flatback Crystals in "Smokey Topaz"
Extras: Lil' Inker Designs Die

Hello Snowman
Good morning! We have a new challenge for you from the ladies at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight Neva has chosen "Christmas with a Metallic Twist"...sounds pretty!
I've combined this challenge with this week's From the Heart Stamps sketch, which also has a twist..."Use Your Favorite Color". That would be pink...of course! Here's the sketch:
So...use the sketch, the color pink, Christmas themed, and metallic.... "Hello Snowman" (isn't this one of the cutest snowmen ever?!) is colored with pencils and mounted on die cuts. I've rounded some of the corners of the metallic background patterned paper, to add a bit of interest, and embellished with a sparkly snowflake and hearts (they came in the stamp set). I love the quirky pink and green for a Christmas card! Check out the adorable "sweater" hearts, here's a close-up:

happy holly days
Good morning! It's time for a new challenge at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight Shaz has chosen our challenge and she would like to see "Red, White, and Blue". Sounds fun!
Of course, I immediately thought patriotic, but then I saw the scraps of patterned paper on my table from a card I had recently made...I decided to go Christmas because aqua is blue, right?! You bet! I thought of my Santa Chick image (yes, I have a "thing" for chicks/birds!) and went in search of a sketch to use that would work with a smaller image. I found the perfect sketch at Jo's Scrap Shack:
The chick is colored with pencils and her hat, the holly berry, and the ornament are accented with 3 different kinds of glitter. I have done some simple layering with the image panel and switched placement to the opposite side so the chick wasn't looking off the edge. The holly leaves with the sentiment were stamped on white, cut out, colored, and adhered in place. Funny how it seemed like such a great idea until I was trying to cut those tiny leaves out..lol! I've also added a touch of glitter to the holly berries in the sentiment. Sadly, the photo does not capture the sparkly goodness of this card.

At the Seaside
Good morning! We have a new challenge for you from Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight Shaz has chosen our challenge and she would like to see "At the Seaside". Great challenge!
I pulled out an adorable DeNami chick to use, along with a new 12x12 paper pack that included some stickers. I don't really used stickers...I don't really know what to do with them.... I did decide to give them a try with this card though; the red rimmed circle and the stars worked rather well and I accented them with some Swarovski flatbacks. Here's a close-up:

Go Lions!
Good morning! It's time for a new challenge from the ladies at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight Vickie has chosen our challenge and she would like to see your "Favorite Sport Theme". Great challenge!
My favorite sport is cheer...yes, competition cheer is a sport! My favorite kind of cheer, though, is wrestling; I never thought I would enjoy it but I truly do. This will be my daughter's 3rd year on the wrestling squad; it's fun getting to know the wrestlers and cheering them on...these are the same boys I have known since they were in Kindergarten!
I have pulled a fun Changito stamp from my stash and turned her into "Changitette" by adding a bit of bling to her hair. She is colored with pencils and accented with glitter. I went with the "number" patterned paper because it is all about the numbers in wrestling! I've done some simple layering and added Swarovski flatback crystals for embellishing. I will save this one and give it to Ivy this fall when wrestling starts.

Blossoms and Butterflies
Good morning! We have a new challenge for you at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight, Caz has chosen our challenge and she would like to see "Blossoms and Butterflies"...great choice!
I went clean and simple today to focus on the "blooms and butterflies". My image is part of a trio called "Spring Baskets" from From the Heart Stamps; I've colored it with pencils and matted it with vellum. I have also used a strip of vellum, to add texture, between two score lines on the card base; for embellishing I've added a touch of bling.
