Oldie But Goodie

Good morning! It's Oldie But Goodie Day at Catch the Bug. This adorable little chick just says "Spring" to me, which I am really looking forward to after our snow this past weekend. Yes, I said snow...LOL!

I've colored her with pencils and accented the flower and heart with a touch of glitter. I've used this week's Tuesday Morning Sketches sketch, although I did leave off the accent on the left side, I just couldn't make it work. I've embellished simply with pink enamel dots. Here's a close-up:

New Release Tuesday

Good morning! It's New Release Tuesday at Catch the Bug and these cute daffodils are perfect for your Spring cards. I'm loving the Spring vibe; it's beginning to look like Spring here in the Midwest, but the temps are actually pretty chilly. No worries...it's just nice to see the sun!

I've colored the image with pencils and added a touch of glitter to the watering can, because I like to add it wherever I can...I do love glitter! I've used an older sketch from Sketch Saturday and kept it simple with monochromatic patterned paper. My significant other saw this sitting on the counter after I photographed it and said, "What a pretty card, Honey." How sweet was that? (I really need to make him a card and drop it into his briefcase for a surprise.) Here's a close-up:

Image: Bugaboo "Daffodil Water Can" Digital Image
Ink: Printer
Paper: Neenah CS, PTI CS, SU! CS, Lawn Fawn Patterned Paper

Bugaboo New Release Tuesday

Good morning...it's New Release day at Bugaboo! Really hoping those April showers will bring May flowers, or in our case May snow! Ugh!

I've colored the image with pencils and paired it with some bright and cheery Doodlebug papers. The paper was too pretty to cover up so I added a piece of vellum for one of the layers on the sketch...I really like that trick...it adds a bit of interest too. I've added a sun and some clouds for embellishing. Here's a close-up:

FTHS April Blog Hop

Good morning! It's time for the April From the Heart Stamps Blog Hop...our theme this month is "I'm No Spring Chicken". I'm really feeling this theme...I just had a birthday! More about that later....

As you hop along, please leave a comment on each entry. One random commentor will be selected on each blog (and the FTHS blog!) to win their image of choice from the FTHS Store!

If you have arrived from From the Heart Stamps, you are in the right place; if not, why don't you start there so you don't miss anything?

Today I've used Bee Happy Birdbrain...the flowers just shout "Spring" to me!  She's colored with pencils...no glittery eyelids today, I didn't want the loose glitter sticking to the window panel! (I must confess it was really hard to step away from the glitter! LOL) I used the sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday and made a shaker card filled with assorted sequins. I've used vellum for the panels (because I didn't want to cover up the pretty plaid paper!) and secured it with mini brads. There's just something fun about a shaker card...I need to make one more often!

Here's a close-up:

Image: From the Heart Stamps "Bee Happy Birdbrain" Digital Set

Extras: Prismas/Crayolas/Goo Gone, Spellbinders Nestabilities, Foam Tape

About the birthday.... I turned 50! A friend is a photographer and wanted to do a photo shoot; I wanted my kids to have a pretty picture of their mom, so I went for it. We had so much fun!  I learned about lighting, etc...photography is really interesting, I would love to take some classes. Here is one of my favorite shots:

Good morning!  It's time for another challenge from the ladies at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight Pat has chosen our challenge and  it is..."April Showers Bring May Flowers"...what a fun theme!

I chose one of the adorable Calendar Chicks from my collection...I love them!  (I use a lot of digis so it was fun to actually stamp for a change of pace!)  As I was looking through my papers for a delicate floral, I came across this fun paper and knew it would be perfect.  The chick is colored with pencils; her eyes are accented with a black gel pen, the umbrella is coated with glitter, and the flower has a pearl center.  I've done some simple layering and embellished with a flower/pearl.  Clean and simple...it's fun for a change!  Here's a close-up:

I went with the first vertical row...Yellow, Flower, Bugaboo Image.  The adorable Edward image is colored with pencils to coordinate with this super Spring-y Doodlebug patterned paper.  I've added some gems and a felt flower for embellishing.  (I know that the sketch has 3 gems in the corner, but I only had 2 small ones and felt they were perfect, so 2 it is!)  I love the subtle houndstooth print in the yellow; here's a detail close-up:

Good morning!  We have a fun new sketch for you at From the Heart Stamps, along with the twist of "Make a Masculine Card"...you can use the sketch, the twist, or both!  Here's the sketch:

I went with one of my favorites...Birdbrains!  We have been having some really nice weather considering it's only March, but when I was writing this blog post we were getting precipitation of some sort.  It wasn't really snow, sleet, or hail...not sure what to call it...it was strange!  Whatever it is, the Birdbrains are prepared with their umbrella!  (Doesn't the yellow one just look...disgruntled?! LOL)  They are colored with pencils and I've added some glitter to their eyelids and tummies, along with the rain.  I've embellished with brads and some sparkly clouds and a sun.  I really love the patterned paper...little smiley clouds with colored raindrops...Doodlebug papers just make me happy!

Good morning!  We have a new sketch for you at From the Heart Stamps; the twist this week is to make an easel card.  You can play along with the sketch, the twist, or both...here it is:

I really would like to keep making snowman cards (this sketch would be perfect to embellish with pretty snowflakes!), but decided to go with a spring image since (hopefully) it's on the way!  The image is colored with pencils and I've done some simple layering.  I've embellished with buttons (shanks removed) and mini brads (to mimic the ladybug's spots).

For You

Good morning!  It's time for a new sketch from From the Heart Stamps...along with a twist!  This week I chose the twist and it is: 1 Ribbon/2 Patterned Papers/3 Embellishments.

The adorable Birdbrain is colored with pencils and her heart and eyelids (because every chick needs eye shadow!) are accented with glitter. I went with bright, cheery yellow and springy papers to coordinate.  I hate to confess that I had a bit of a struggle doing my own twist!  LOL  Since ribbon was a part of the "recipe" I figured that didn't count, so my 3 embellishments are: glitter (heart and eyelids), crystals, and handmade flower.

Ink: Printer
Paper: G.P. 110, SU! Daffodil Delight, PTI Dark Chocolate, Jillibean Soup
Embellies: Martha Stewart Glitters in "Candy Apple" and "Lemon Drop", Swarovski Flatback Crystals in "Smoked Topaz", Handmade Flower (MFT "Blueprints 5" Die-namics Dies/PTI "Pure Poppy" Button, Swarovski Flatback Crystal in "Smoked Topaz")
Extras: Prismas/Goo Gone, Spellbinders Nestabilities, Foam Tape

Here is the sketch we are working with this week:

Rainy Day Birdbrains

Good morning!  It's time for a new challenge at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight, Jennifer has chosen our challenge and she would like to see "April Showers"...that's right, umbrellas or raindrops!  The challenge made me think of this new "Rainy Day Birdbrains" image from Faith, so I went with it and used this week's From the Heart Stamps sketch too.  Here is the sketch:

The image is colored with pencils and I've added lots of sparkly glitter (love the stuff!).  I figure that you need a little sparkle on a dreary, rainy day!  The sketch was a bit challenging for me, but I finally figured it out....  I coordinated some bright patterned papers and embellished with die cut clouds and buttons.  This was a fun one to make!

it's all 'behind' ewe...

Good morning!  We have an inspiration challenge for you today at Bugaboo; check out the photo:

Hmmm, inspiration challenges are always tough for me...I tend to take them too literal.  I was browsing the store and when I came across this cute Ewe image, I knew it was perfect.  Don't they say "In like a lion, out like a lamb"?  So good riddance winter!  It's all behind us...hopefully!  LOL

The image is colored with pencils...I got the idea for the pink ewe from the Inkspirational challenge.  I used the Mojo Monday sketch and embellished with die cuts, brads, and a snippet of ribbon.

Lucky Shamrock

Good morning!  I have a card to share using the adorable Hamlet PigWit, who is From the Heart Stamps March Stamp of the Month.  This set comes with 2 versions; the one I have used today and one with a butterfly and daffodils...both are adorable!

If you played along with last month's progressive challenge, you received this image for free.  If not, there is still time to play along....  You can purchase the image in the shop or if you spend $10 in the shop, you can enter THINKSPING to receive it free.  If you play along this month, you will automatically receive the April image for free.  Sounds good, right?  Right!

I have used the Mojo Monday sketch and kept it clean and simple.  Hamlet is colored with pencils; I have tried to color him as I remember the pigs when I was growing up on the farm.  They aren't really white, but they are not pink either...just a hint of blush is how I would describe them.  I've added just a touch of glitter to a few of the shamrocks and coated the die cut shamrock with glitter.  I like how this simple sketch lets Hamlet shine!

Paper: G.P. 110, SU! Garden Green, PTI True Black, Karen Foster Designs DP
