Stella Says Sketch

Good morning! We've got a new sketch for you at Catch the Bug; it's a versatile one and you've got 2 weeks to play so I hope you'll give it a try. Here it is:

I colored up the adorable "Bee Bear Sitting" and added some sparkle to the antennae, wings, and heart. I turned this into a Valentine card and I'm liking the non-traditional colors. After I had photographed the card I realized I had forgotten the embellishment in the upper left corner...shoot! I seem to make most of my cards embellishment free these days. How about you...embellishments, yes or no? Here's a close-up:

Stella Cupid

Good morning!  It's Oldie But Goodie day at Catch the Bug...I decided to pull Stella out of the archives.  A little Valentine humor is always good, right?!

Stella is colored with Spectrum markers and accented with glitter.  I went a bit non-traditional with the colors and used the sketch from Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.  I used some red bling for embellishing.

Paper: PTI Stamper's Select, Spring Rain, and True Black, Pinecone Press Patterned Paper
Embellies: Martha Stewart "Crystal Fine" and "Sugar Cube" Glitters, Red Bling

I Give You My Heart

Good morning!  Tuesday means a new challenge from Tuesday Morning Sketches and we have a wonderful sponsor this week...Bugaboo!  Here's the sketch:

Some of you may notice that I just used this image, but I like him so much that I decided to use him again (it was also perfect considering the heart in the sketch!).  He is colored with pencils and I've added glitter to his heart.  I printed the heart from the set on CS and cut it out...I love how the one he's holding is the perfect match.  I've added mesh, ribbon, buttons, and bling for embellishing.  I'm thinking I might save this one for my son to give his sweetie....

Tuesday Morning Sketches

Good morning!  We have a new sketch for you to try at Tuesday Morning Sketches; this week Kris chose our sketch to revisit from last year.  For this challenge we also have a twist...lace and pearls.  (Yes, I know...I am twistless....)

The darling bear is colored with pencils, embellished with glitter and he has a paper pieced balloon.  I decided to go a bit untraditional and went with a blue card base...just for fun.  I used my Corner Chomper to add some interest to the layers and embellished with a ribbon.

I {Heart} U

Hello; it's time for the monthly Flat Friends challenge!  For February we would like to see a card with more than one fold...sounds fun, right?!  I went to SCS and looked through all the tutorials before deciding to try the Treat Box Card; it was hard to choose one since there were so many...what a great resource.

With the use of a Scor-Pal, the box was really quite easy to construct.  You could really dress it up, but I kept it simple with just some DP.  I've used one of Emma's darling Valentine images; she is both colored and paper pieced and I've also added a bit of sparkle.  The image panel is simply adhered to the card front.

Ink: Printer, SU! Going Gray Marker
Paper: PTI Vintage Cream, SU! Strawberry Slush, Pinecone Press DP
Embellies: Art Glitters in"Polar Bear" and "Pink Smoothie"
Extras: SU! Oval Punch, Spellbinder's Nestabilities, Corner Chomper, Hershey Nuggets

Please check out all the "fun fold" creations the DT have created to inspire you...we hope you will play along!

I Want Candy

Good morning!  I wanted to play along with the All That Scraps challenge which was to use the colors pink/red/brown, so I looked to find some challenges I could combine.  I found the Deconstructed Sketch and thought it was perfect for my image.  I'm using one of the Meoples from the "I Want Candy" set...I don't know, there is something about the Meoples that speaks to me...I love them!

The image is colored with pencils and the candy wrapper is paper pieced and sponged.  I've added a crystal to the bow in her hair.  The papers are distressed and I have added a felt flower and ribbon for embellishing.

TMS#133

Good Tuesday morning!  It's time for another fun challenge from Tuesday Morning Sketches; our sketch this week comes from Jessica and it's not only a sketch, but a card with a "scrapling".  I have always wanted to try this, so here was my chance!

First, you trim an A2 card down to a 4 1/4" square...the portion remaining is the "scrapling".  How fun is that?  You can use the scrap to make a tiny little card.  I added a charm that says "I Love You"...this might be a fun one to sneak into one of the kids' backpacks.  Or, as we say at our house "packpack"....  When my daughter was a pre-schooler, she used to call it this and it stuck!

Image: Stampendous
Paper: PTI Vintage Cream, SU! Poppy Parade, Pinecone Press DP
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Embellies: SU! Poppy Parade Ribbon, Barbara Trombley's Art Glitter in "Angel Dust", Watch Us Charm
Extras: Prismas/Crayolas/Goo Gone, Spellbinders Nestabilities, Dimensionals

I hope you will stop over at the Tuesday Morning Sketches blog to check out the rest of the DT's creations. I would love to see you give this fun technique a try too....  This week is a judged challenge and Marie has thrown in the extra challenge of 4-2-1...4 layers, 2 ribbons, and 1 embellishment.  Have fun!

Thanks for stopping by!

Cupid Stella

I had to try out some more of my new paper and I couldn't resist using Stella again...I think she is a hoot!  I like that the DP is a bit non-traditional color-wise.  Can't say that I've made too many blue Valentines....  Stella is colored with pencils and accented with glitter...it's hard to see in the photo, but I even added a touch to her blue eye shadow....  Now that's hot!
