Hoot! Hoot!

Good morning! Today I have a card to share that I made for one of our COVID-19 physicians. We have 2 on the unit, 1 day shift and 1 night shift. Both are great! One of the nurses made a special bulletin board for them and some adorable owl pot holders since they both like to cook. She asked me to make them cards "with an owl". I made a quick trip into Hobby Lobby, which recently re-opened, and bought the one and only owl stamp. Would I have chosen this image? No! Sometimes you have to work with what you've got!

Just some thoughts.... I know that in Iowa many counties are "opening up"; meaning businesses are re-opening with restrictions. This is really scary to me! We have not peaked and are not scheduled to peak until mid-June. I encourage you to continue practicing social distancing. If you need to be in public, please wear a face mask, use hand sanitizer, and remember not to touch your eyes, nose, or mouth! Make your trip brief by having a list and a plan before entering the store. We all need to do our part for the safety of everyone! As someone with an inside, front and center view...this is crucial!

I've colored the owl with pencils and added a dash of glitter. I loved the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches this week and realized at the last moment that I had to flip it because of the sentiment I had already printed for the inside...so glad that I had'nt glued it down! The patterned papers are from Lawn Fawn, I love the combo of pink and green! Here's a close-up:

I computer generated a sentiment:

I found the cutest Hero Arts set of sentiments to stamp on the back of the card too! Here's one:

I came across this fun cherry paper the other day and immediately thought of Jodie's new image...Cherry Bird!  Isn't she a hoot?  I've colored her with pencils, added a touch of glitter to her glasses and the flowers, and a gem to the butterfly.  I've used a simple layout and added brads and twill for embellishing.

Vintage "For You"

Good morning! I picked up the latest Paper Crafts publication, Card Creations Volume 9, the other day and I have earmarked a bunch of cards to CASE. I think I see something new every time I look through the magazine; I love to look at it as I'm watching t.v. in the evenings.

This card caught my eye since I had recently purchased this stamp. I really love vintage and sewing themes and since this combined both, I just had to whip up a few for my stash. The original card was created by Maile Belles and is shown on page 39. I switched up the colors and sentiment. They were fun and simple to put together.

Image: Hero Arts
Sentiment: Lili of the Valley
Ink: Palette Burnt Umber, PaperTrey Ink Chai
Paper: PTI Fine Linen, G.P. 110, PTI Distressed Dots
Embellie; PTI Dark Chocolate Button
Extras: Prismas/Goo Gone, DMC Floss

Thanks for stopping by; have a great day!

Happy Birthday Deb!!!

Good morning! Today Deb, from Freckle Faced Printworks, is celebrating her birthday so in honor of that we're having a little hop. You should have arrived here from Imke's blog, Crafting Creations by Imke.

I was originally going to do something grungy because Deb is the "Queen of Grunge", but finally I thought, "Who am I kidding?" and decided the only thing I could do is what I do.... Know what I mean? As much as I like the grunge cards, I just can't seem to pull them off....

One of the first swaps I was in with Deb was a Stampendous swap, so I thought Changito was a safe bet. I also know her favorite color is green, so that's how I came up with my plan. I think this little Changito stamper is so darn cute and knew that one of my hoarded embellies would be perfect for this card. The little stamp embellie is from Hero Arts and I bought it years ago. Actually I was afraid to try to stamp on them in case I would mess is up and ruin it! It was much easier than I thought; I just used Memento ink and stamped away! I used Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge #91; I used it earlier this week, but I thought it was such a fun sketch I would use it again.

Image: Stampendous
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select and Dark Chocolate, SU! Pear Pizazz, Basic Grey Origins
Embellie: Hero Arts Stamp
Extras: Prismas/Crayolas/Goo Gone, Spellbinceder's Nestabilities, EK Success 3D Dots

Thanks for stopping by today; I hope you will hop along with us and wish Deb a Happy Birthday. Deb, here's to you, I hope you are having a fabulous day! Next stop along the hop is Kelly from Wishin' I was stampin'.

CAS Neopolitan Chicks

Good morning! What's up? Today I have a clean and simple card to share with you; I sent one of these to my Secret Sister in her reveal package earlier this week.
I tend to be a fan of "chicks" in general, and these DeNami chicks are no exception.... I love their tiny size and they are a bit whimsical too! I thought of neopolitan ice cream right away when I saw the 3 chicks. They were super easy to color with my Crayolas and the card went together quickly too. I stamped a row of the chicks and scored a couple of lines for a bit of definition. The image panel is cut with Nestabilities and popped up with foam tape. The sentiment is from Hero Arts. I think this card is truly clean and simple with all the white space.
Image: DeNami
Sentiment: Hero Arts
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select, SU! Pink Passion
Extras: Crayola Colored Pencils, Scor-Pal, Spellbinder's Nestabilities, Foam Tape
Thanks for stopping by today! I'll be back tomorrow with a card for Bellarific Friday.... Have a good one!

Tiddly Inks Challenge #11: What's Up?

Hello there! This week the Tiddly Inks challenge was to use red, white, and blue.... I wanted to do something a bit different than the obvious patriotic theme. I thought of this image and realized it would be perfect!

What's Up? Well, not her ice cream scoops, that's for sure! This little cutie had a triple decker cone, but has lost her Coconut Cream and Blueberry Buckle...that just leaves her with the Pomagranite Pizzazz. Poor thing! Do you think the 3 second rule applies? LOL

The image is colored with pencils and her dress is paper pieced. I used the long edge of a rectangular nestie for the scalloped border on the horizontal strip. I also place a 1/4" strip of the Ruby Red underneath the organdy ribbon, so the DP wouldn't show through.

Image: Tiddly Inks Digital Stamp "Whoops"
Sentiment: Hero Arts
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: G.P. 110, SU! Ruby Red and Brocade Blue, Frances Meyer DP
Embellie: Ruby Organdy Ribbon (my stash)
Extras: Prismas/Crayolas/Goo Gone, Spellbinder's Nestabilities, EK Success 3D Dots

I think I'm hungry for some ice cream! How about you?

Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy the holiday; blessings to the people, and their families, who serve in the military for the USA. You are appreciated!

2 Challenges, 1 Card!

Hello! It's Sunday and that means I have another challenge for you from The Corrosive Challenge Blog...this week our challenge was to make an easel card. It was really a challenge for me since I had never made one before. I was able to find a tutorial on SCS and with the help of my Scor-Pal, it wasn't too hard. I also incorporated the Tiddly Inks Challenge #4, which was to use turquoise, orange, and yellow. (I was the lucky winner of challenge #3 as my number was randomly picked! Woot woot! I received a $10 voucher for the store!)
My image is a digi stamp from Tiddly Inks She's colored with Prismas and glittered up so she's good and sparkly! I used a Hero Arts sentiment for her sign.

Tiddly Inks Challenge #3: Fabric

Hello there! It is a cold, windy Wednesday...I hear it is supposed to be 34 degrees Friday night. Good grief!
I have a card that combines 2 challenges today; I love it when I can do that! I see some people are able to combine many more than that; I'll have to work on it.... I used the sketch over at SCS and went to work. I had great plans to use fabric in my i-top brad maker, but I found that the Heidi Grace fabric I bought to go with my Heidi Grace paper didn't match. The fabric was much more vibrant. Then I thought of my PTI felt, but discovered that the Hawaiian Shores felt didn't match the Hawaiian Shores paper.... What a bummer! Then I checked the Dark Chocolate felt/paper and found it was not a good match either! Double bummer! I guess today was not my day! LOL
I decided to go with SU! Cool Caribbean since it matched the DP and also goes great with the felt. When SU! was retiring that color I bought a bunch because it is one of my very favorites; I do tend to hoard it though. The image is a digi; I am really liking the ability to resize the digis to your project. I colored her with Prismas and added some glitter to her wings. I used SU! felt flowers combined with the PTI felt and repurposed a green felt heart for the leaves. I like how this card turned out; the colors make me happy! Plus, if I get to use glitter that makes me happy too; I don't even mind the mess!
Image: Tiddly Inks Digi Stamp
Sentiment: Hero Arts
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: G.P. 110, SU! Cool Caribbean, PTI Dark Chocolate, Heidi Grace DP
Embellies: Barbara Trombley's Art Glitter in "Polar Bear", PTI Hawaiian Shores Felt, SU! Stitched Felt Sweet Pea Flowers
Extras: Prismas/Goo Gone, SU! Stamp-a-ma-jig, Foam Tape
Here's a link to the Tiddly Inks blog in case you would like to check out the challenge. The DT's cards are worth taking a look at too!
Just wanted to share a bit of happy news; DD tried out for flags with the marching band. She found out today she made it! Makes me remember H.S. (MANY years ago) when I was a flag and also played the bass drum in the marching band. Were any of you in the band? I'd love to hear about it!
Thanks for stopping by today; enjoy your evening!

Clean and Simple Sympathy

Hello there! Are you having a great Saturday? It is cool, but sunny here so a person can't complain....

I needed to make a sympathy card and I've used this layout many times. It's quick, easy, and I think it's elegant as well.

The purple flowers are stamped off once and then I rolled the edge of the circle in ink so it would look a bit more dimensional.

Images: SU! Stem Silhouettes (green), Hero Arts (eggplant)
Sentiment: Hero Arts
Ink: SU! Garden Green and Elegant Eggplant
Paper: PTI Vintage Cream, SU! Elegant Eggplant
Embellie: SU! Eggplant Grosgrain Ribbon
Extras: Spellbinders Nestabilities, Foam Tape

Thanks for stopping by today! Tomorrow I have a card to share in which I used a new digi image; I hope you'll stop back!
