Feeling Frazzled?

Good morning!  Does the impending holiday season leave you feeling frazzled?  At times, I do....  (Especially when I leave the SFYTT until the last day...where did November go?)  My card today is a reminder to...Keep Calm and Recharge!  So the next time you are feeling like the Energizer bunny, take some time for yourself...have a latte, read a book, exercise...whatever leaves you feeling refreshed.

Sentiment: Technique Tuesday
Ink: SU! Melon Mambo, Versamark
Paper: SU! Soft Sky and Melon Mambo, Carta Bella "Merry and Bright" DP
Embellies: Energizer AAA Battery, Grosgrain Ribbon (scrap)
Extras: Spellbinder's Nestabilities, Red Line Tape

Tip: I found that if I inked my stamp first with Versamark and then with colored ink, I achieved a better impression.  The battery is heavy, so I used a strip of Red Line Tape to secure it.

I am also entering my card in the following challenges:

Crimbo Crackers: Anything Goes (Christmas or Festive)
Moving Along With the Times: Use 3 elements starting with the same letter (blue, battery, balls)
Party Time Tuesdays: Anything Goes
SFYTT (November): Sketch
Tuesday Throwdown: Lots of Layers

Thanks for stopping by!

Red Hat Mama

Good morning!  It's time for another challenge from the ladies at Creative Card Crew...this fortnight our challenge is to use purple.  Now I don't know about you, but I think of the red hat ladies when I think of purple...that made me think of Bugaboo's Stella!  Isn't she a hoot?

The image is colored with pencils and the frame is accented with glitter.  I kept the card simple with a bit of dry embossing and some Swarovski crystals.  My daughter told me it was missing something and told me to "bling it up".  Sometimes clean and simple is nice for a change of pace....  I'm not so sure what to add or where I would put it...what do you think?  Any suggestions?  I'd love to hear them!

Image: Bugaboo Digital Stamp
Ink: Printer
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select, Royal Velvet, and Pure Poppy, SU! Lavendar Lace
Embellies: Swarovski Flatback Crystals, Martha Stewart Iridescent Fine Glitter in "Candy Apple" (Thank you Vickie...love it!)
Extras: Cuttlebug Embossing Folder, The Paper Studio Sticky Doos

You can check out the rest of the DT's creations here.

I am entering my card in the following challenges:

Have a Sizzlin' Summer!

Hello there!  I am sneaking in at the last minute again...I wanted to get Jen del Muro's June Sketch For You To Try done and posted!  Actually this card has been on the table for over a week...just waiting to be embellished.  I couldn't decide what to do.  There is ant ribbon and ant brads that match the paper, but I couldn't seem to make them work.  The kids and I had a fun (and busy) day today so later tonight I went to work....  I decided a sentiment, sun/clouds, and some Bella Dots would do the trick.

January SFYTT

Hello there!  I usually don't do 3 posts in 1 day, but I needed to upload my card for Jen del Muro's January Sketch For You To Try.  I am just squeaking by!

My image is colored with pencils and accented with glitter.  I mounted it on the Heart Rosette CutUps Die.  So far I havn't actually used it to make a rosette...I like the looks of it used as a doily too.  For embellishing, I used a couple of Bella Dots on the upper vellum panel.

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select and Dark Chocolate, SU! Blushing Bride, The Paper Studio Vellum, KI Memories DP

you're ONE in a million

Good Friday morning! My card today features a vintage gumball machine that I thought would go perfectly with the Basic Grey "Out of Print" DP that I have been using lately. I LOVE this line...it is nice and shabby with such eclectic patterns.

The image is colored with silver and dark gray with just a pop of red for the gumball; I applied Crystal Effects to the gumball, so it is nice and shiny. The papers are distressed and I added some brads on the image panel for embellishing.

Image: Stamping Bella "Vintage Gumball Machine" (sentiment included)
Paper: SU! Naturals White and Cherry Cobbler, Basic Grey DP
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Embellies: Spare Parts Brads, Crystal Effects
Extras: Prismas/Goo Gone, Making Memories Distressing Tool

Well, Hello!

I thought the colors from The Cat's Pajamas Tuesday challenge looked like fun, so I thought I'd play along. I found some SU! DP that worked perfectly and I decided to go with this cute bunny...one last nod to the summer that has come and gone. How can it be fall already?!

The image is colored with pencils and I paper pieced some of the pinwheels. I ran the image panel through the Cuttlebug to add a bit of texture and added some felt grass for more texture. (The grass was actually scraps I had sitting on the table...isn't it great when you get the opportunity to use up scraps?) I used some tiny brads in the center of the pinwheels along with a black gel pen for the bunny's eyes. I stamped my sentiment on DP and paired it with a rosette made from a TCP CutUps die...they really are easy to make. I topped the rosette with a button tied off with Divine Twine.

Image: The Cat's Pajamas
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select and Smokey Shadow, SU! Rich Razzleberry, SU! DSP Cottage Wall
Embellies: Spare Parts Mini Brads, PTI Ripe Avocado Button, Devine Twine in Oyster
Extras: Prismas/Goo Gone, Spellbinder's Nestabilities, Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Embossing Folder, TCP Easy Rosette CutUps die, MFT Die-namics Grass Die/Felt

I used Jen del Muro's September Sketch For You To Try...it was a good one, I'm sure I'll be using it again.

Bellarific Friday...A Little Early....

Hello again! I usually don't post twice in one day, but I realized that August is almost over and I need to squeeze in this months SFYTT! Boy, I am cutting it close!

The challenge for Bellarific Friday this week is back-to-school and I combined the two challenges. It's amazing to see how much the kids have grown when it's time to get those back-to-school clothes. My Ivy, who just turned 13, has been taller than me for quite some time now...she even wears a bigger shoe! My Davis, age 11, is not far behind....

July SFYTT: Oh Baby!

Good Monday morning! How was your weekend? Why do they go so fast?

I have been wanting to get a card in the mail for our niece who will be having a baby in October. Jen del Muro's Sketch For You To Try for July was perfect; the sponsor is MFT, so I went with this fun a' la mode image. Did you guess that the baby is supposed to be a girl?

The image is colored with pencils and the eyes are dotted with a black gel pen. I embellished simply with a felt flower and buttons. I borrowed a trick from Joanne Basile and used vellum for the sentiment. I could have made the image panel longer, but I didn't want to hide the DP. The vellum was the perfect solution!

Image/Sentiment: MFT a' la modes "Oh Baby!"
Paper: PTI Vintage Cream and Dark Chocolate, SU! Blushing Bride, My Mind's Eye DP, The Paper Studio Vellum
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Embellies: Assorted Buttons
Extras: Prismas/Crayolas/Goo Gone, The Cat's Pajamas CutUps Die, PTI Felt (Raspberry Fizz/Dark Chocolate), DMC Floss

That's it for today; I'll be back tomorrow with another fun challenge from Tuesday Morning Sketches.

Thanks for stopping by!

June Sketch For You To Try

Hi there! I am cutting the deadline really close with this card...I made it by about 3 hours! Good grief; I have had the whole month of June! It's a great sketch, so I'm glad I got to use it.... Stamping Bella is the June sponsor for Jen del Muro's SFYTT, and I just received some goodies last week, so I had to use this cute, little Peep! Isn't she just a doll in her snazzy, red raingear?

It took forever for me to pick out a paper combo...does anybody else ever have that problem? I finally decided on some October Afternoon DP from various pads. The little Peep is colored with pencils and her umbrella was paper pieced. I embellished with some lacy black trim, a red felt rose and some Swarovski crystals.

Image: Stamping Bella "Umbrella PEEP"
Paper: SU! Real Red, PTI True Black, October Afternoon DP
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Embellies: Black Ribbon (my stash), Swarovski Flatback Crystals in "Topaz"
Extras: Prismas/Goo Gone, Spellbinder's Nestabilities, MFT Die-namics Rolled Rose Die, The Cat's Pajamas CutUp Die (leaves), The Paper Studio Sticky Doos

Here's a photo of the card I was about to upload. Something just wasn't right, and I decided that the black strip was just too wimpy. I removed some of the embellies, added a thicker strip over the first strip, replaced the embellies and voila'! Much better! Still somewhat lacey, but more substantial to ground the rose.

Thanks for stopping by!

April Image Swap Card

Good morning! Today I have the card I made for the monthly image challenge I am in; notice it says April...I am a bit behind! A bunch of friends on SCS takes turns mailing out the image for the month, then we all make a card with it and post it. It's really fun to see what everyone creates. Our April image came from Joanna. The June image just arrived, so I really need to get going with my May card....
I used Jen del Muro's May SFYTT; love her sketches! The image is colored with Prismas and the eyes are dotted with a black gel pen. Instead of matting the layers, I sponged the DP since I was going for a shabby chic look. The rose is handmade with a MFT die; the edges of the felt were sponged before I assembled it (in real life the rose matches the ribbon on the bear...I don't know why the colors look off in the photo). I finished it off with some crocheted lace, ribbon, stickpins and a pearl.
Ink: Palette Burnt Umber, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Paper: PTI Kraft and Dark Chocolate, the girls' paperie DP
Embellies: SU! Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon, Wright's Crocheted Lace, Maya Road Stickpins, The Paper Studio Pearl
Extras: Prismas/Goo Gone, Spellbinder's Nestabilities, MFT Die-namics Rolled Rose Die, PTI Blueberry Sky Felt, The Paper Studio Sticky Doos
April down...May to go! Stay tuned....

C.C. Designs Birgitta

Hello there! I have a fun spring card to share that works for 3 challenges:

1. Monthly image challenge on SCS
2. Jen del Muro's March SFYTT
3. The Corrosive Challenge Blog challenge (3 DP's, 2 ribbons, 1 image)

It's not often that I'm able to combine challenges, so I was pretty excited!

This month our image came from Imke and she included the cute, little sun charm. I decided to make Birgitta's sunflower pink...just for fun! The image is colored with pencils and accented with glitter. I added some felt grass and finished it off with a bit of ribbon, cord, and the charm.

Paper: PTI Dark Chocolate, Pebbles DP
Embellies: SU! Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon, SU! Silver Cord, Doodlebug Glitter, Sun Charm

With Hugs and Kisses

Good morning and "Happy Valentine's Day"! Today I have a card to share using supplies from a fabulous card kit sent to me by my Secret Sister. How fun is that? I have to tell you, this kit had so many goodies; included were this gorgeous DP from Making Memories and this adorable Penny Black stamp.
The image is colored with Prisma pencils and Goo Gone; her headband and heart are paper pieced and the dots are colored pink with a pencil. I wanted to keep the focus on the DP, so I embellished the card simply with a button and some twine.
The sketch is Jen del Muro's February Sketch For You To Try.

Sentiment: Stampendous
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, SU! Black Marker, White Gel Pen
Embellies: PTI Button and Twine

Secret Sister, if you are out there and happen to see this.... "Thank you" for a wonderful package; it really made my day!

SFYTT January 2011

Good Monday morning! How was your weekend? Mine was nice and relaxed; I hate to admit I didn't get a lot accomplished, but sometimes that's okay too. We are supposed to get a BIG storm today; so far just a bit of light snow. Of course the kids were up early checking to see if school was delayed!

Today I have Jen del Muro's January Sketch For You To Try. There have been a few changes with the new year; the main change being there will only be 1 sketch a month and you have the whole month to complete it. Yes, I realize I am cutting it close! The sponsor for January is
The Cat's Pajamas, so I thought I would whip out some of my swanky stamps and CutUps and get busy....

I thought the sketch was a fun one; love square cards! I had 3 coordinating DPs layed out and decided to do one of the panels in vellum; I really hated covering up the pretty background DP. By using the vellum, you can add a layer of interest, but still see the pretty paper. I paper pieced the tablecloth and Sprinkle is colored with pencils. There is a lot of die cutting on this one; in the sentiment and the flowers. Since the paper is pretty busy, I embellished the card simply with Bella Dots.

Image/Sentiment: The Cat's Pajamas
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select, Simply Chartreuse, and Dark Chocolate, Crate Paper DP, The Paper Studio Vellum
Embellies: Bella Dots
Extras: Prismas/Crayolas/Goo Gone, Spellbinder's Nestabilities, CutUps "Flower Buttons" Die, QuicKutz "Uptown Girl" Alphabet, EK Success 3D Dots

Alrighty then, that's it for me today but I will be back tomorrow with a new sketch from Melissa at Tuesday Morning Sketches. Thanks for stopping by!

I've Been Bitten By The Stamping Bug!

Hello! Are you enjoying your Sunday? I sure am! I took some time to play along with Jen del Muro's Sketch For You To Try. You can check it out here if you'd like to.

I was looking through my paper to find something that had 3 coordinating patterns and came up with this DP from Crate Paper. It is really nice stuff! It is double-sided and CS weight. As I was making the card though, I had second thoughts.... I had one of those moments where I wondered, "What could I have been thinking?" It is pretty busy and there's a lot going on! I kept going though, because I hate to waste good paper! I do like how it turned out when I finished it though....

The image is colored with pencils and the wings have a coating of Art Glitter...they really sparkle! Rather than introduce yet another paper to the lineup, I chose to use vellum for the bottom panel. I like the way it looks; it mutes the DP just a bit. I used Bella Dots to cover the glue.

2 Challenges in 1

Hello! How is your weekend going? I had the lucky fortune of making 1 card for 2 challenges...I love it when that happens! The Tiddly Inks challenge this week was "our pets" and I used Jen del Muro's Sketch For You To Try.
I used the Tiddly Inks digi image "Catgirl" from the Gothic Cute line. I was really tempted to make a Halloween card, but I was thinking how they say sometimes you can start to look like your pet.... Have you ever heard reference to the "Crazy Cat Lady? Well, I think "Catgirl" might be on her way! LOL I really like how Christy's images are cute, not scary.
In addition to some fun pet paper that I had in my stash, I used the "Pinking" nesties along with the PTI large ric rac die and a paw print brad. The image is colored with pencils and accented with black and white gel pens, and the image panel is sponged to "dirty it up" a bit like the DP.
Image: Tiddly Inks Digi Image "Catgirl"
Ink: PTI Vintage Cream, SU! Sahara Sand, Sakura Black and White Gel Pens
Paper: G.P. 110, SU! Bashful Blue, PTI Dark Chocolate, Bo-Bunny DP
Embellies: PTI Dark Chocolate Felt, Paw Print Brad
Extras: Prismas/Crayolas/Goo Gone, Spellbinder's Nestabilities, PTI Large Ric Rac Die, QuicKutz "Frankie" Alphabet/Handtool, EK Success 3D Dots

Pure Innocence Birthday Card and Gift Box

Hello! Did you enjoy your weekend? This is our last "free" weekend; school starts tomorrow for DD and Tuesday for DS. Where did the summer go? We had a busy, fun-packed day which included celebrating my Mom's 65th birthday. This is the card and gift box I made for her. The box is 1" deep and is lined with warm and natural batting. I really like making these little boxes; they are simple and it's fun to personalize them too. My Mom had seen one I made not too long ago and made a big fuss over it, so I knew I needed to make one for her.

Here's a closer shot of the card. (The quality of the pictures isn't very good; they were taken in the breezeway and the lighting wasn't the best.) I used Jen del Muro's SFYTT and a Pure Innocence image that I hadn't had the chance to ink up yet. The little gal is colored with Prismas and I paper pieced her dress. I really had fun with the crown; it is cut out and has 2 coats of the "Antique Linen" Distress Stickles. It has a great textured finish. I embellished the card simply with buttons and a fun "garment pin" from Making Memories Vintage Findings. I am liking the quirky combo of the rose and orange....

Here's a close-up to show the crown and fun pin. I was going for a shabby-chic look here, but I still can't seem to master it.... Even though I am pleased with this card, it is frustrating!

Image: MFT Pure Innocence "Birthday Princess"
Ink: Palette Burnt Umber, SU! Close to Cocoa Marker
Paper: PTI Vintage Cream and Dark Chocolate, K & Company DP
Embellies: Buttons (my stash), Distress Stickles in "Antique Linen", Making Memories Vintage Findings "Garment Pin"
Extras: Prismas/Goo Gone, Spellbinder's Nestabilities, Scor-Pal, QuicKutz "Blossom" Alphabet. DMC Floss, EK Success 3D Dots

Thanks for stopping by today; enjoy the coming week!

Bellarific Friday: Paper Piecing

Good morning! I'm so glad Friday is here.... What a week it has been! I'm looking forward to maybe sleeping in tomorrow.... How about you?

The challenge this week at Blogabella was to paper piece; I love paper piecing! I have paper pieced this little cutie's jammies before. It was easy to do, it just takes a bit of patience with the cutting. I combined this challenge with last Saturday's SFYTT.

I started out making the boy card, and as I was making it I thought it would be fun to use the same layout and make it a bit more girly. I just made a few changes:

1. Cream card base instead of Kraft

2. Delicate scallops

3. Satin ribbon instead of twill

4. Bow instead of Bella dots

The images are colored with pencils before adhering the jammies, then I popped the image panel up for a bit of dimension.

Image: Stamping Bella

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, SU! Black Marker

Paper: PTI Vintage Cream and Dark Chocolate, October Afternoon "Fly a Kite" DP

Embellies: PTI Dark Chocolate Twill, PTI Dark Chocolate Satin Ribbon, Bella Dots, PTI Button

Extras: Prismas/Crayolas/Goo Gone, Spellbinder's Nestabilities, MFT Die-namics, EK Success 3D Dots

I have a little tip to show you regarding paper piecing. I always try to use my supplies wisely, so I stamp the image on the background piece of DP, being careful to stamp it where it will be covered with layers. This way I don't have to use extra paper for the piecing. Maybe you already do this, but I thought I would pass it along.

This is what my card looks like before I add the layers. It looks a bit strange, but you can't see the "hole" when the card is finished.
If you leave a comment on the Blogabella post, you may be lucky enough to win some Bella Bucks, or better yet, play along for a chance to win even more Bella Bucks!
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a great day!
