Ruby's Rainbow ABC

Good morning!  It's time for a new challenge from the ladies at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight, Valou has chosen our challenge and she would like to see "Anything But a Card".  Sounds like a good challenge!

I made a box to present a custom Baptism card that I made for a friend.  The box is very simple to make with the help of the Scor-Pal; the bottom is lined with white felt and the top is decorated with an embossed panel and a felt rose to coordinate with the card.  For the card, I've used white/cream...embossed CS, textured vellum, die cut onesie with glitter trim, ribbon, a felt flower, pearls and stickpins.  (The recipient loved it!)  Here's a close-up of the card:

Sentiment: Computer Generated (printed in gray)
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select and Vellum
Embellies: Spare Parts Pearls, Maya Road Stickpins, Grosgrain Ribbon (my stash), Flower (MFT Royal Rose Die-namics Die/PTI Felt), Martha Stewart Crystal Fine Glitter
Extras: Scor-Pal, Cuttlebug Embossing Folder, White Felt (to line bottom of box), Foam Tape

Please check out the rest of the DT's creations here, along with the challenge details.  We hope you will play along...I'd love to see your ABC project!

Challenges entered:

As You Like It: Favorite Anything But a Card
(Why?  An ABC challenge is always a bit hard for me; I always think "What should I make?"  My standby is gift packaging because it is inexpensive and really elevates the presentation of  the card or gift...even something simple can look extra special!)
Card and Scrap: Bling, Glitter, or Pearls (I used glitter and pearls.)
Crafting For All Seasons: Girly Girls
Penny's Paper Crafty: One For the Girls/Female Cards
The Crafting Cafe: Welcome Little One
Try It On Tuesday: Pearls for Girls

Thank you for stopping by!

Good morning!  It's time for a new challenge from the Creative Card Crew; for this fortnight we would like to see pearls on your creation.

I immediately thought of this image that I had in my stash, but had yet to color.  For my card, I went shabby chic...distressed papers, ribbon, pearls, handmade felt rose, and stick pins.

You're My Cup of Tea

Good morning...I have some fun news to share...I have accepted a position on the Flat Friends DT!  Of course I didn't hesitate when Emma invited me...I am tickled to work with her adorable images!  New challenges are posted on the 1st of the month and you have the month to play along.

This month we have an inspiration challenge; check out the photo:

Isn't she chic?  I love the splash of red!  I decided it would be fun to paper piece "You're My Cup of Tea"...isn't he adorable peering over the edge of the cup?  His head and part of the tea bag are popped up to add dimension.  (As I was fussy cutting those tiny hands, I wondered why I thought it was such a good idea?!  LOL  It was some tricky trimming!)  I love the layout from Fusion...it's clean lines work well with the stripes; I've added a handmade felt flower and leaf stick pins for embellishing.

Image: Flat Friends
Ink: Printer
Paper: G.P. 110, PTI Pure Poppy and True Black, Fancy Pants Designs DP
Embellies: Handmade Felt Flower (PTI Pure Poppy Felt/MFT Royal Rose Die-namics Die/Bella Dot), Maya Road Stick Pins

I hope you will check out the rest of the DT's lovely cards...we would love to have you play along too!

I am also entering this card in the Fusion: Sketch + Inspiration Photo challenge.

Canary Love

Good morning!  It's time for another challenge from the Forever Friends Monthly Team.  For this challenge we would like to see an animal/bird/butterfly (you don't have to include all three) on your card.

The Forever Friends Favorite winner will win two digis of their choice from Saturated Canary.  Remember, to be in the running for this you must use a Forever Friends product on your card.

The Randomly Selected Winner will receive a prize package from Joanna Sheen, including:

1 tin of water colour crayons
1 stamp set-vintage babies
1 stamp set-DIY
1 stamp set-Fairy
1 stamps set-Clock

See prize package below:

Krista, from Saturated Canary let us pick an image to use...thank you, Krista!  I really had a hard time choosing, because I love her amazing images!  I choose "Canary Love" and I will admit that next came a good case of "coloring anxiety"!  LOL

The image is colored with pencils and I accented the red heart with a touch of subtle glitter.  I kept the layout simple...just distressed the papers and added a ribbon, felt heart, button/twine, and stickpins for embellishment.

Image: Saturated Canary "Canary Love" Digital Image
Ink: Printer
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select, Blueberry Sky, and Pure Poppy, Simple Stories DP
Embellies: Martha Stewart Crystal Fine Glitter, PTI Pure Poppy Twill, Red Felt Heart (Hobby Lobby), PTI Blueberry Sky Button/Pure Poppy Twill, Maya Road Stickpins

I hope you will check out the rest of the DT's lovely creations...their cards are amazing!

Digital Tuesday Challenge: Hearts
Divas By Design: Winged Things
Fab 'n' Funky: Valentines or Hearts

Simon Says Stamp: Have a Heart
Top Tip Tuesday: Let Me Call You Sweetheart (see tip below)

Tips and Tricks: Even if you are having "coloring anxiety", just go for it!  I am not the greatest at coloring, and I dreaded coloring this beautiful image.  I decided to just sit down, get busy, and enjoy the process.  After all, it's just paper and you can always try again.  You know what?  It turned out to be relaxing and fun!

Thank you for stopping by!

You're One of a Kind

Good Monday morning!  I wanted to play along with the MFT Sketch Challenge this week and decided to look through the challenge list to see which ones I could combine to make one card.  It makes it more of a challenge that way, right?!  I havn't done much crafting this week, so there were a lot of things I was interested in....  I was trying to combine "teacher's pet", girly but not pink, glitter/bling, flowers, shabby-chic/distressing....  Anyway this is what I came up with.

The image is colored with pencils and her dress is paper pieced.  My original plan was to diecut the row of paper dolls and adhere them.  Easy peasy, right?  Not so much!  The diecut paper dolls are a bit bigger than the stamp....  So I stamped the paper dolls on DP and cut them out.  Oh my, that was interesting!  As I was cutting I wondered what on earth I had gotten myself into....

Check out the size of the paper dolls!  Tiny!  I took a picture just for fun.  Actually this was the rough cut before I went and fine tuned it a bit.  I later realized I should have taken a picture after I cleaned it up.... After adhering the paper dolls, I gave them a nice coating of glitter...so sparkly!

To finish the card, I distressed the DP and added more paper dolls, a felt flower, some pearls and stick pins.  I even decorated the inside of this one, using graph paper to play on the "teacher" theme.

Image/Sentiment: MFT Pure Innocence "Paper Dolls"
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select and Dark Chocolate, SU! Ruby Red, My Mind's Eye "Stella Rose", Graff Paper
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, SU! Black Marker, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Embellies: Kaiser Pearls, Martha Stewart Crystal Fine Glitter, Maya Road Stick Pins
Extras: Prismas/Crayolas/Goo Gone, MFT Die-namics (Royal Rose, Sweet Stack Labels, Paper Dolls), Felt (my stash), Dimensionals

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Good Tuesday morning!  It's time for another challenge from Tuesday Morning Sketches; today our fun sketch is courtesy of Marie.  The sponsor for this challenge is Bugaboo Stamps; they really have something for everyone...check them out!  This is also a judged challenge...with a twist...vintage!

Well, I will have to say that I love Bugaboo images and I love vintage, but I couldn't really see how to pair the two....  Until I saw this lovely silhouette...thank you to Jodie at Bugaboo!  The image is printed on DP and diecut with Spellbinder's dies.  I distressed the DP, added a bit of ribbon, a felt rose, butterflies, stickpins, and pearls.

Bellarific Friday...A Little Early....

Hello again! I usually don't post twice in one day, but I realized that August is almost over and I need to squeeze in this months SFYTT! Boy, I am cutting it close!

The challenge for Bellarific Friday this week is back-to-school and I combined the two challenges. It's amazing to see how much the kids have grown when it's time to get those back-to-school clothes. My Ivy, who just turned 13, has been taller than me for quite some time now...she even wears a bigger shoe! My Davis, age 11, is not far behind....

TMS#102: Summer Reading

Good morning! It's time for another fun challenge from Melissa at the
Tuesday Morning Sketches blog. Our challenge this week is "Summer Reading" and we are to make a card with a detachable bookmark. Hmmm, I had never done this before and did find it to be quite the challenge because when I was trying to decorate my bookmark everything I came up with was bulky!

I used Bookwormabella for my image, and combined her with some pretty papers from the girls' paperie...I love their vintage flair! Bella is colored with pencils and I made a felt rose to which I added a ribbon loop and some leaf stickpins. I like the look of the white image panel and white dotted ribbon paired with the linen colored paper....

Here's my detachable bookmark; I stamped the image and sentiment on DP and added a felt flower. I was all set to use a button, but no lumps or bumps! I used my Cutterpede perforating blade for the bookmark; I tell you, that thing is awesome! One quick swipe and your paper is perforated...easy peasy!

Image: Stamping Bella "Bookwormabella"
Sentiment: MFT "Here's the Story"
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select, Fine Linen, and Dark Chocolate, the girls' paperie DP
Embellies: PTI Dark Chocolate Polka Dot Satin Ribbon, Maya Road Stickpins
Extras: Prismas/Crayolas/Goo Gone, MFT Rolled Rose Die, Rose Felt (my stash), The Cat's Pajamas CutUp Die (flower on bookmark), EK Success Cutterpede Perforating Blade, DMC Floss

I hope you will head on over to the Tuesday Morning Sketches blog to check out what the rest of the design team has come up with. I know I can't wait to see! Maybe all the inspiration will persuade you to try a bookmark of your own....

Thanks for stopping by; have a great day!

SC326: Changito in Space

Hello there! I was finally able to get to this week's sketch challenge on SCS and I combined it with The Corrosive Challenge Blog's challenge which was to use stars. Woo hoo! 1 card, 2 challenges...I like that! Have you ever had a vision and your finished card just didn't really measure up? Well, that's what happened here.... LOL I'm thinking this will be a good one for a "little man"; not too little though, or I will have to find something to cover the end of the pin. The space ship is stamped on metallic silver paper; I added a bit of color with pencils and then some glitter. Changito is stamped again on CS, colored, cut out and adhered. The stars are punched out of Doodlebug Sugar Coated CS. Image: Stampendous Clear Set "Changito in Space" Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, SU! Black Marker Paper: PTI Stamper's Select and Dark Chocolate, SU! Brushed Silver, Daisy Bucket Designs DP, Doodlebug Sugar Coated CS Embellies: SU! Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon, Doodlebug Glitter Extras: Prismas/Crayolas/Goo Gone, Quilting Pin, EK Success Star Punches, EK Success 3D Dots That's it for tonight; thanks for stopping by and enjoy your weekend! Soft hues, ribbons and flowers....

Good Tuesday morning; it's time for another challenge from Tuesday Morning Sketches This week we are challenged to use soft hues, ribbons, and flowers; I hope you will play along! Our sponsor this week is Doodle Palace and the image I used is called "Teddy with Flowers".
Teddy is colored with Crayolas/Goo Gone. DP is from Imaginisce and it is double-sided; the striped side has lovely glitter accents. I used some irridescent ribbon and glitter on the flowers to pull it all together. I was almost finished when I remembered these flower stick pins in my stash; I thought they were the perfect finishing touch. When I was done, I realized this would be a nice baby card.
Image: Digi from Doodle Palace
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select, SU! Certainly Celery, Imaginisce DP
Embellies: Fancy Pants Designs Stick Pins, Barbara Trombley's Art Glitter in "Polar Bear", Ribbon (my stash)
Extras: Crayolas/Goo Gone, Spellbinders Nestabilities, Foam Tape
Tips and Tricks:
I find it a bit hard to get the diagonol panel "just right" and I have found that using copy paper is a good way to make a template so you can avoid wasting costly DP. I just position the copy paper where I would put it on the card, mark it, cut it, and then check the fit. If it looks good, I then lay that piece on top of my DP and cut it by hand. I keep used copy paper with my container of scraps to use for scrap paper.
I have a question that I hope one of you can answer.... Have you ever used the stick pins? If so, have you sent them through the mail? If so, how?
Thanks for stopping by; I hope you have a great day! It looks like it could be another rainy one here....
