April Showers Bring May Flowers

Good morning!  It's time for another challenge from the ladies at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight Pat has chosen our challenge and  it is..."April Showers Bring May Flowers"...what a fun theme!

I chose one of the adorable Calendar Chicks from my collection...I love them!  (I use a lot of digis so it was fun to actually stamp for a change of pace!)  As I was looking through my papers for a delicate floral, I came across this fun paper and knew it would be perfect.  The chick is colored with pencils; her eyes are accented with a black gel pen, the umbrella is coated with glitter, and the flower has a pearl center.  I've done some simple layering and embellished with a flower/pearl.  Clean and simple...it's fun for a change!  Here's a close-up:

Image: Stampendous "Shower Chick"
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Signo Black Gel Pen
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select and Berry Sorbet, Echo Park Patterned Paper

Sketch Saturday #388

Good morning sketch fans!  We have a fun new sketch for you to try, along with a new sponsor...Bunny Zoe's Crafts.  Here's Sketch #388 by Alex:

I combined the sketch with Catch the Bug's BINGO challenge, along with some other challenges.  Here's the BINGO card:

I went diagonally from the top left to bottom right...No Designer Paper-Texture-Bling.  I used JJ...I think this image gives a new meaning to the term "Ice Queen"!  LOL  JJ is colored with pencils and embellished with glitter and pearls.  I've dry embossed the 2 panels with snowflakes and dots, and embellished the card with another snowflake and a smattering of pearls.  I usually use patterned paper, so this is a bit different for me; I do like all the white though.  Here's a detail close-up:

Image: Bugaboo "JJ Christmas-Snowflake" Digital Image
Ink: Printer
Paper: G.P. 110
Embellies: Queen and Co. Pearls, Martha Stewart "Crystal Fine" and "Sugar Cube" Glitters
Extras: Tim Holtz "Snow Flurries" Embossing Folder, Cuttlebug "Swiss Dots" Embossing Folder, Spellbinders Nestabilities, Foam Tape

Ruby's Rainbow ABC

Good morning!  It's time for a new challenge from the ladies at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight, Valou has chosen our challenge and she would like to see "Anything But a Card".  Sounds like a good challenge!

I made a box to present a custom Baptism card that I made for a friend.  The box is very simple to make with the help of the Scor-Pal; the bottom is lined with white felt and the top is decorated with an embossed panel and a felt rose to coordinate with the card.  For the card, I've used white/cream...embossed CS, textured vellum, die cut onesie with glitter trim, ribbon, a felt flower, pearls and stickpins.  (The recipient loved it!)  Here's a close-up of the card:

Sentiment: Computer Generated (printed in gray)
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select and Vellum
Embellies: Spare Parts Pearls, Maya Road Stickpins, Grosgrain Ribbon (my stash), Flower (MFT Royal Rose Die-namics Die/PTI Felt), Martha Stewart Crystal Fine Glitter
Extras: Scor-Pal, Cuttlebug Embossing Folder, White Felt (to line bottom of box), Foam Tape

Please check out the rest of the DT's creations here, along with the challenge details.  We hope you will play along...I'd love to see your ABC project!

Challenges entered:

As You Like It: Favorite Anything But a Card
(Why?  An ABC challenge is always a bit hard for me; I always think "What should I make?"  My standby is gift packaging because it is inexpensive and really elevates the presentation of  the card or gift...even something simple can look extra special!)
Card and Scrap: Bling, Glitter, or Pearls (I used glitter and pearls.)
Crafting For All Seasons: Girly Girls
Penny's Paper Crafty: One For the Girls/Female Cards
The Crafting Cafe: Welcome Little One
Try It On Tuesday: Pearls for Girls

Lucky Birdbrain Chick

Good morning!  It's time for a new challenge from the ladies at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight Jennifer has chosen our challenge and she would like to see "Anything Green".  Sounds good!

Since St. Patrick's day is right around the corner, I decided to go with Lucky Birdbrain Chick; the image is colored with pencils and I've added a lot of glitter so it is nice and sparkly.  I pulled out a past From The Heart Stamps sketch and the twist that week was monochromatic so that was perfect for R.R. theme!  I did add just a splash of pink for color.  Here's the sketch:

Image: From the Heart Stamps "Lucky Birdbrain Chick" Digital Image
Ink: Printer
Paper: G.P. 110, SU! Wild Wasabi, Reminisce Patterned Paper
Embellies: Martha Stewart "Sugar Cube" Glitter, PTI Hibiscus Burst Twill, Kaiser Pearls
Extras: Prismas/Goo Gone

Recipe: 3-2-1

Good morning!  We have a fun, new challenge for you at Catch the Bug...it's a recipe!  We would like to see a card with:

* 3 Word Sentiment
* 2 Flowers
* 1 Image

Sounds good, right?!  I started by looking for an image with a 3 word sentiment...when I saw JJ I knew she was the one because I love making baby cards!  I also found a fun sketch and wanted to use pink and pearls...now that's a fun challenge!

JJ is colored with pencils (I love the "pop" of blue with all the pink/brown!) and I've embellished with some punched/layered flowers with pearls and some twill.  I like how this one turned out...I love the patterned paper.

Image/Sentiment: Bugaboo "JJ Pregnancy-Shopping for Two" Digital Image
Ink: Printer
Paper: G.P. 110, PTI Hibiscus Burst and Dark Chocolate, Pebbles Patterned Paper

Changito Snow

Good morning!  It's time for a new challenge from Ruby's Rainbow; it was my turn to pick the challenge for this fortnight and it's a Recipe Challenge: 1 Critter, 2 Patterned Papers, and 3 Embellishments (Example: 3 brads, 3 buttons, 3 flowers, etc.).  Sounds fun, right?!

For my critter, I had to go with Changito...he's my all-time favorite!  The image is colored with pencils and I've accented the snow with glitter.  I pulled out some bright and cheery papers from my stash and embellished with 3 snowflakes and a smattering of pearls.  I used the sketch from The Sketch File, minus the sentiment...I couldn't seem to make it work.  (Hmmm, why do I always have trouble with sentiments?)

I've colored the image with pencils, combined some of my favorite patterned papers from my stash and added a felt flower adorned with a pearl for embellishing.  I chose this adorable image because my daughter owns a cupcake business...I thought this one would be fun to have in my stash for her!

Good morning!  It's New Release Tuesday at Catch the Bug and I love the image I am using today...it is so elegant!

I've printed the image on patterned paper and added a coating of glitter to the outer border.  The daisies are embellished with pearls and I've tied the tag with fibers.  The sketch is from Freshly Made Sketches; I finished the card with some pearls.

Hoppy Christmas

Good morning!  I'm back with another challenge for Bugaboo's Christmas in July week; today's challenge is "Anything But a Card" with the added twist of a color challenge.  Check out the color palette below:

Doesn't that color palette rock?  I love it!

One of my favorite things to make is an altered Crystal Light container.  (I have a stash of the old ones that I'm still using.  The new ones are oval; I like that the old ones are round so that I can use Spellbinders die cuts to decorate the lid.)  The image is colored with pencils and accented with glitter.  I've used a couple of papers that have been in my stash a long time...the colors were perfect.  I've added a button/pearl combo for embellishing and filled the container with some iridescent shred.  This will be perfect for a small gift or to jazz up the presentation of a gift card.

Image: Bugaboo "Hoppy Occasions-Christmas" Digital Stamp
Ink: Printer
Paper: G.P. 110, SU! Garden Green, KI Memories Patterned Paper
Embellies: PTI Buttons in Raspberry Fizz, Spare Parts Pearls
Extras: Prismas/Goo Gone, Spellbinders Nestabilities, Foam Tape

I hope you'll play along with our challenge...there are some awesome prizes, including Guest Designer spots!

Flower Pot Chick

Good morning!  It's time for a new sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches...it's a fun one!  Here it is:

I kept it simple by not matting my patterned paper.  Whenever I try this, I feel like the card is unfinished...it's hard to step out of the comfort zone.  It's good to switch things up though!  I used one of the Stampendous Calendar Chick images and it's colored with pencils.  I embellished with mesh (love how you can see the patterned paper through it!) and pearls.

Image: Stampendous
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Paper: PTI Vintage Cream and Harvest Gold, Echo Park Patterned Paper
Embellies: Spare Parts Pearls
Extras: Prismas/Goo Gone, Spellbinders Nestabilities, Cream Mesh (Paper Mart)

I went with a fun, springy, pre-colored image from Doodle Pantry and paired it with a sentiment and patterned paper from the set.  I've done some layering and put my dies to use; for embellishing I've used some ribbon, and mini flowers with a pearl center.

I've used the From the Heart Stamps April Stamp of the Month "Spring Medley".  Faith's flowers are beautiful!  I've colored them with pencils, done some simple matting, and added ribbon and pearls for embellishing.

The image is colored with pencils and embellished with glitter; super sparkly for the wings and subtle for the dots on the mushrooms.  For embellishing I've put my dies to work and made some tiny felt flowers and adorned them with pearls before scattering them on a leafy vine die cut.

Favorite Color Combo

The ladies at the Crafty Friends Challenge Blog have a fun, new challenge...Use Your Favorite Color Combo.  Our sponsor for this challenge is Rick St. Dennis, and he has generously allowed me to pick the beautiful Eve to work with.  I think Eve is beautiful...a bit different than what I normally work with...thank you, Rick!

Eve is colored with pencils and I have paired her with some elegant Echo Park DP.  I've distressed my papers and embellished with ribbon, leafy swirls and pearls.  I wanted the image to take center stage.  As far as my favorite color combo...it was a bit hard...I knew I would pick pink, but there are so many different great color combos to choose from.  The pink/green combo here is a bit more subdued than what I would normally choose, but I like it for a fun change.
