Easter Fluffles

Hello again! I came across this sketch Sunday, and even though I should have been doing other things...I made a card! I thought it was a fun sketch. Here's a link to Amy's blog, click here.

I thought this cute image of Fluffles would work perfectly with this DP that I've been hoarding. Love this DP, every so often I get it out and use some; I just think it is so cheery!

Image: Stampendous
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select, Dark Chocolate, and Lemon Tart, Heidi Grace DP
Embellies: Chocolate Bella Dots, SU! Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon, Barbara Trombley's Art Glitter in "Angel Dust"
Extras: Crayolas/Goo Gone, Spellbinders Nestabilities, Foam Tape

Thanks for stopping by; have a great night!

Clean and Simple: One of a Kind Friend

Good Tuesday Morning!
I 'm heading to work early this a.m. to host our annual Doctor's Day Brunch, so I need to make this a quickie! I made this card for the PTI swap I'm hosting. When I was finished, I was a little amazed that I included piercing, a button, twill, and glitter...yet it is still clean and simple (CAS).
Image/Sentiments: PTI Friends "Til the End
Ink: Palette Burnt Umber, Versamark
Paper: PTI Kraft, Hibiscus Burst and New Leaf
Embellies: Lasting Impressions Piercing Template/Piercer, PTI Wood Button/Twine, PTI Dark Chocolate Twill, Barbara Trombley's Art Glitter in "Pink Smoothie"
It takes a bit of time to cut the flowers/leaves out, but I think the final result is worth it. I tried to attatch a close-up of the flower detail, but the picture is too small.... Hmmm, I will have to figure that out....
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a great day at work; whether you go to a job, or work at home!

TMS#38

Good morning (again!)! This is my second post today, scroll down to see the new challenge for the Corrosive Challenge Blog.

Melissa had a fun sketch for us this week. Since it's almost Easter, I chose one of the new CC Designs Sweet November images. These little bunnies are so fun to paper piece! The paper is from a Making Memories paper pack; the paper included is really pretty and I like the fact that there is something small-scale which is perfect for paper piecing.

The image is colored with pencils before adding the bunny suit. I cropped the image close to allow his foot to extend. The card is embellished simply with ribbon and Bella Dots.

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select and Dark Chocolate, Making Memories DP
Embellies: SU! Chocolate Chip Ribbon, Chocolate Bella Dots

You have until 7 p.m. to play Melissa's challenge; see here. If you hurry, you can make the deadline!

Take the Corrosive Challenge: Easter or Spring

Good Sunday morning to you! Our theme this week is to make an Easter or Spring themed card. I just couldn't resist using my buddy Changito wearing his cute bunny slippers! Doesn't his tongue just crack you up? He must be very intent on doing the bunny hop! LOL

My friend Jessica made the neatest card; see here. I thought the layout was really interesting, and I love how she chose her colors. They stand out without being matted; I was really intrigued by that because I thought no mats = quicker cardmaking. My result wasn't quite what I had hoped for; while the papers are coordinated, I think it needs more variance as they seem to blend together. I will have to try the layout again and make better choices for my DP. See here for the layout and challenge.

Changito is colored with Prismas/Goo Gone and embellished simply with a flower. I seem to be using that flower punch a lot lately!

Image: Stampendous
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: PTI Vintage Cream, SU! Old Olive, SEI DP
Extras: Prismas/Goo Gone, EK Success Retro Flower Punch and Circle Punch

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you will check out this week's challenge (see here) and make a card yourself; meanwhile you can check out the Design Team's creations with the links in my sidebar.

It's Bellarific Friday!!!

Happy Friday!

Our challenge this week was a sketch and it looks like a pretty simple one, right? Well, this is actually my second card because my first was U-G-L-Y!!! I am not kidding! I finished this one up minutes before I had to dash out the door to work....

Not sure if you can see it or not, but the largest flower center says "Hot". I think this little bikini babe is a hottie for sure!

Sentiment: The Cat's Pajamas
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: SU! Bermuda Bay, PTI Stamper's Select and Dark Chocolate, Daisy Bucket Designs DP
Extras: Crayola Colored Pencils, EK Success Retro Flower Punches and Round Punches

I'm glad you stopped by today; I hope you have a good one!

"Little Man" Swap Card

Hello!
My friend Jen, over at SCS, is hosting a "Man Card" swap; I signed up for the "Little Man" category and this is what I came up with. I knew right away I would use Changito! I thought the bright colors would be a hit with the kids.
The photo doesn't capture all of the detail; I paper pierced a line and then placed the brads in every third piercing. As I'm looking at the photo, it appears the line is a bit wonky.... This is the trouble I sometimes have with brads; I know the pierced line is straight, but the prongs of brads are not always centered. Hence, the wonky line! This is one of the reasons I like the Bella Dots; I can center them evenly.... Don't get me wrong, I love brads too! Sometimes it just depends on the technique you are using. Has anybody else ever had this trouble or is it just me?
Image/Sentiment: Stampendous
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: G.P. White, SU! Yo Yo Yellow and Brilliant Blue, Piggy Tales DP
Embellies: Spare Parts Brads
Extras: Crayola Colored Pencils, Tim Holtz Piercing Ruler, Foam Tape
I need to try to get these in the mail either today or tomorrow so they make the deadline. I am working a couple of 3-11 shifts, so it is throwing everything off just a bit...it's been almost 10 years since I worked that shift.
I hope you have a great day; thanks for stopping by!

CAS59: Bee Free

Hello there! How was your Monday? Mine was a bit disorganized; I thought I worked at 7 a.m. so I was up and ready a few minutes after 6, only to check my date book and see that I didn't work until 9 a.m.! Today was the kids first day back after Spring Break, so I had everything layed out for them to make it easier on DH. Turns out I was able to get them ready myself. I still had extra time and thought I should use it wisely, so I started my card for today's CAS Challenge over at SCS.
The theme today was New York; I wasn't going to play, but then I remembered this cute little bee stamp. I tried to color her crown like the aged patina of the original Statue of Liberty; I went strictly patriotic with the rest. I added some M.S. Crystal Fine Glitter to the wings; they have a subtle shimmer. I went all out with the fire cracker and used my Art glitter; it really packs a punch!

Ink: Momento Tuxedo Black
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select, SU! Real Red and Brilliant Blue
Embellies: Barbara Trombley's Art Glitter in "Polar Bear", Martha Stewart Crystal Fine Glitter, Spare Parts Brads

Tuesday Morning Sketch #37

Hi there! I'm going to make this a quick post...I have to finish the soup and serve it for supper. We're having Chicken Taco Soup and it is one of my favorites!
The challenge at Tuesday Morning Sketches this week was to alter something. I love altering the Crystal Light containers, because they are easy to do and they are FREE! I am all about the bargain! I havn't tried altering one of the new oval shaped ones though....
The container is covered with American Crafts paper; I think it really looks Easter-ish. I just use a strip of double stick tape on each end of the paper and overlap the edges; super fast and easy. The bunny chick is colored with Crayolas and I added some Doodlebug glitter to the eggs. I used a round punch to punch the holes for the ribbon and just knotted the ends inside the cannister. I filled it with Easter grass and it's now ready for some little candies or perhaps a giftcard.

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: PTI Stampers Select, SU! Regal Rose, American Crafts DP
Embellies: SU! Rose Grosgrain Ribbon, Doodlebug Glitter
Extras: Crayola Colored Pencils, Spellbinders Nestabilities, Double Stick Tape
Thanks for stopping by; I hope you had a great weekend!

Take the Corrosive Challenge: Paper Piecing

Good Sunday morning! Today my card is for Janet's weekly challenge; it was paper piecing, which I love doing! Be sure to check out the DT's cards. There are links to their blogs in my sidebar.
I have had this DP in my stash for a long time, but havn't used it because I had a hard time finding coordinating cardstock. I have several different coordinating patterns and I was able to use 3 of them on this card. I did find that SU! Old Olive was a good match, at first I didn't want to use it since I didn't think it was too springy...but just a little dab seemed to work out well.
The cute little bunny boy is from CC Designs "Sweet November" line. He is colored with Prismas/Goo Gone and I've added a bit of glitter to the butterfly, his ear, and the center of the flower.
Image: CC Designs Sweet November Stamps Baby Bunnies-Butterfly
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: PTI Vintage Cream, SU! Old Olive, SEI DP
Extras: Prismas/Goo Gone, Barbara Trombley's Art Glitter in "Angel Dust", Martha Stewart Crystal Fine Glitter, EK Success Retro Flower Punch, Spellbinders Nestabilities (center of flower), Foam Tape
I really struggled with how to embellish this card. At first I had a couple of different ribbons picked out, but they just didn't seem right. Then I had a bunch of different flowers out and they didn't seem right either. I finally settled on a punched flower; I think it mimics the shape of the flowers in the DP. I cut a small circle with a Spellbinders die and used that for the center. I gently curved the petals around my finger to give them a bit of lift and dimension. The center of the flower really sparkles! I really love Barbara Trombley's Art Glitter; it has become one of my favorites because it is super sparkly! If you ever have the opportunity to buy some, give it a try; it comes in a huge variety of colors. I like to apply mine with the Zig 2 Way Glue pen.
Thanks for stopping by today, enjoy your day!

It's Bellarific Friday!

Happy Friday! This week the theme of our challenge on Blogabella was monochromatic. It had me stumped a bit.... After looking through my stamps, I thought Violet Bittybloom would work well. I can't wait to see some real violets bloom!
The image is stamped, colored with Prismas/Goo Gone, cut out, and finally sprayed with some Glimmer Mist. It is hard to get a crisp picture, yet still capture the "pearl" finish. The lighter panels are embossed, and I embellished with some Bella Dots.

Embellies: Bella Dots
Extras: Prismas/Goo Gone, Spellbinders Nestabilities, Cuttlebug/Embossing Folder, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in "Pearl", Foam Tape

TCP: Supply Challenge

Here's my card for The Cat's Pajamas 100th week of challenges. This one is for the supply challenge, which was to use felt. Check out Amy's blog post here. I thought I would have time after work to complete more of the challenges, but they were to be posted by noon Monday. I was only able to do 2 out of 4.

I decided to go for a springy Easter card. I think these penguins are really cute and I love all the little eggs. However, I have discovered that it is not easy to cut out and glitter these tiny little eggs! They are very hard to hang on to! Tweezers work well....

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select, SU! Pixie Pink, KI Memories DP
Embellies: Creative Imaginations Felt Flower, Doodlebug Glitter, White Grosgrain Ribbon (my stash)
Extras: Prismas/Goo Gone, Tim Holtz Piercing Ruler, Foam Tape

I used last week's Mojo Monday sketch for my layout.

TCP Color Challenge

To celebrate The Cat's Pajamas 100th week of challenges, there were 4 special challenges this week. This card works for Joanne's color challenge which was to use Kraft, Celery, Saffron, and Pumpkin. See Joanne's blog post here.

My DP has a few extra colors in it, but I thought it worked well anyway. I colored my image using the challenge colors. The stamp set "Spring Fling" has the cutest little carrot stamp; I used it to make the carrot DP, by stamping on Kraft and coloring the images in. I like how it turned out!

Image: The Cat's Pajamas "Spring Fling"
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select and Kraft, SU! Pumpkin Pie, KI Memories DP
Embellies: PTI Orange Zest GrosgrainRibbon, Pewter Carrot Charm (my stash)
Extras: Prismas/Goo Gone, Spellbinders Nestabilities, DMC Floss, Foam Tape

I learned something while making this card: Don't be too stingy! I try to avoid waste whenever I can, so often times I have a heck of a time when I tie my ribbon. Today I didn't cut enough to knot the ribbon; the wider it is, the more you need to tie the knot. Well, I was unhappy with the knot...so I untied it. It was wrinkled...I attempted to iron it (keep in mind it was attached to the card at this point). The iron was too hot...the ribbon melted. I cut off the melted part...what now? LOL (I wasn't laughing at the time!) I ended up gathering the ribbon with a needle and floss, and then added the charm. I do like how it turned out, even if I took a roundabout way to get it done....

Thanks for stopping by!

Fluffles Lucky Clover

Good Sunday morning to you! Today I have my card for the Corrosive Challenge Blog; the theme this week was "lucky". Since St. Patty's Day is right around the corner, I wanted to go with that theme. Click here to see the other cards by the DT. Perhaps you would like to play along!

I just love this paper. I bought it to make prize card kits for a swap I was hosting. It's double sided and has the most beautiful golden shimmer. I wish I had more, but all I have left is small scraps. I colored the buckle on the hat metallic gold and I used the antique gold brads to try and bring out the shimmer.

Image: Stampendous
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select and Pure Black, Reminisce DP
Embellies: Barbara Trombley's Art Glitter in "Angel Dust", Spare Parts Brads
Extras: Prismas/Goo Gone, Tim Holtz Piercing Ruler, Foam Tape

I am not sure why, but in my world, Fluffles is always white! I have seen cards in the SCS gallery where people have made him gray or orange and he is so cute in color. Maybe some day I will step out of the box....

I hope you have a great day! Don't forget to set your clock ahead!

Bellarific Friday

Good morning! Along with Bellarific Friday, Em has a new release today! 22 new stamps! I can't wait to see them....

I must confess I have had a lack of mojo....I have 2 cards sitting on the table that I have started and I'm just not liking them! This one today needs something, but I'm just not sure what it is. Anybody have any ideas?

I wanted to do something different for St. Patty's other than the typical green, so I threw in a splash of pink. I LOVE this paper and really wanted to showcase it; it has a beautiful golden shimmer. Maybe I need to add some gold brads? I would love to hear your ideas!

Paper: PTI Stamper's Select, SU! Regal Rose, Reminisce DP
Embellies: SU! Rose Grosgrain Ribbon, Barbara Trombley's Art Glitter in "Angel Dust"

Corrosive Challenge #54

Good morning!

Janet, from the Corrosive Challenge Blog, has asked me to be a guest designer for her Sunday challenges. This is my first week and our challenge was a sketch.

I received some wonderful birthday happy mail from my dear friend Patti. This SU! Chocolate Bunny stamp was included. I'm thinking this chocolate bunny is better than the real thing, as it has no calories! LOL Anyway, I just had to put my new stamp to use and it turned out to be perfect for this sketch.

Image: SU! Chocolate Bunny
Sentiment: SU! So Very
Ink: SU! Chocolate Chip, Versamark
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select, SU! So Saffron, Regal Rose, Wild Wasabi and Close to Cocoa, American Crafts DP
Enbellies: Bella Baubles, White Satin Ribbon (my stash)

Bellarific Friday

Good morning! Today is Bellarific Friday and our theme this week is polka dots. I only used a small amount of polka dot paper, but I tried to carry the "dot" theme throughout the card with the circles and Bella Dots. You can check out more creations here; if you leave a comment, you will be entered to win $10 in Bella Bucks! How cool is that?

I love the colors and the bold stripes of this paper, which has been unused in my stash for a long time.... I think it's cheery and reminds me a bit of spring!

butterfly wishes

Hello!

I was making this card last night for 2 challenges; SCS Sketch Challenge 270 (SC270) and also Joanne's challenge to use Kraft and stitching on your card (week 2 challenge for her blogaversary).

Anyway, I was working hard on this card and took a picture of it when I was done. The lighting was bad, so I thought I would take another picture of it today and link it to Joanne's blog. I was thinking I had until the 4th, but when I went and checked it out again I found out the 3rd was the deadline and I had missed it by 50 odd minutes! Ack! Talk about disappointment!

Image/Sentiment: Stamping Bella
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Palette Blank Canvas
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select and Kraft, SU! Tangerine Tango, My Mind's Eye DP
Embellies: Barbara Trombley's Art Glitter in "Polar Bear", PTI Button
Extras: Lasting Impressions Piercing Template/Piercer, DMC Floss, EK Success Retro Flower Punch, Cuttlebug "Swiss Dot" Embossing Folder

I've already made my card for Bellarific Friday, so I hope you'll come back tomorrow to see it. The theme is polka dots....

Thanks for stopping by!

CAS Changito Clover

Hello and "Happy Wednesday", or as some call it "hump day". Good to know we are halfway to the weekend!

Today's card is one I made Monday for the CAS Challenge over on SCS. The challenge was to make a square card (mine is 4.25"). I used to play regularly, but hadn't played for awhile. I need to get back in the habit because they are fun challenges and it's fun to make a quick card. I wasn't happy with my original photo, so I just snapped some more outside; the quality is certainly better.

I colored my little buddy Changito with Crayolas/Goo Gone. He's attatched to the card with foam tape over a little border I like to make. First I pierce a line, next I score on each side, last I add some brads. I think this is a fast way to add some zip! Click on the photo to see if that helps to see the scoring. Last I stamped an extra clover, colored it, cut it out, and popped it up.
