Have a Sizzlin' Summer!

Hello there!  I am sneaking in at the last minute again...I wanted to get Jen del Muro's June Sketch For You To Try done and posted!  Actually this card has been on the table for over a week...just waiting to be embellished.  I couldn't decide what to do.  There is ant ribbon and ant brads that match the paper, but I couldn't seem to make them work.  The kids and I had a fun (and busy) day today so later tonight I went to work....  I decided a sentiment, sun/clouds, and some Bella Dots would do the trick.

Happy 4th...from Margaret!

Good morning!  I was the lucky winner of the Bugaboo sketch challenge and my prize was 10 digital stamps...woo hoo!  Oh my gosh, I had so much fun picking them out!  I love Margaret, and Stella, and Gus....  I just had to work with one of them right away.  Since the 4th is right around the corner, I went with Margaret Calendar Month July.  Is she a hot tamale or what?  I'm loving her lipstick!

Margaret is colored with pencils and all of the white stars have some sparkly glitter...nice and festive!  I used some Doodlebug DP that I have had in my stash for years, added some ribbon and twine, along with another glittery star and a button.  The sketch is from Seems a Little Sketchy; I thought it was perfect for Margaret!

Birthday Cupcakes

Good morning!  It's time for another sketch challenge from Tuesday Morning Sketches; our sponsor for the week is Paper Garden Projects.  I have used a free digital image; you can find it here.

After printing the image and text, I colored the cupcake with pencils.  I like that the image is already shaded...that is such a great help for the coloring impaired...like me!  LOL  I used my corner rounder to add a bit of interest, added some twill, and finished with some rhinestones.  My finished card measures 5x7".

CAS: Let's Go Fly a Kite

Good morning!  I was looking through the challenges yesterday and the Jellypark Friends challenge was "Let's Go Fly a Kite", so I thought I would use that as a start and try to pair it with some other challenges.

I've had this fun Changito stamp for awhile but hadn't used it yet...it's pretty big and doesn't leave room for a lot of layers so I thought clean and simple was the way to go!  I simply stamped and colored the image, paper pieced the kite, and layered the image panel with dimensionals on a white card base.  I just realized that I used no embellishments on this card; that sure doesn't happen often!  The inside reads "Enjoy life's simple pleasures."

Image: Stampendous
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select, Plaid (from my stash, received from a friend)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Extras: Prismas/Crayolas/Goo Gone, The Paper Studio Sticky Doos

Western Wedding

Hello there!  I've got a fun card to share using Charlie Bride and Groom from Clear Dollar Stamps.  (Click here to see the set; there is a wonderful variety of goodies.)  There is just something about Charlie that pulls me in and since it's June, I thought I'd make a wedding card.  Today I've used a pre-colored image and DP to match; I did a bit of distressing, added some ribbon, a handmade felt flower and some bling to dress it up a bit.  I like the contrast of the satin ribbon and crystals paired with the distressed papers.

Ruby's Rainbow Challenge

Good Wednesday morning!  It's time for a new Ruby's Rainbow challenge; this fortnight Sandra has challenged us to make a card with black and white, plus one other color.  Sounds fun, right?!

I chose SU! Peach Parfait and I just happened to have some matching DP in my stash!  (I love the SU! In Color DSP; there's a nice variety of patterns which are perfect for the monochromatic look.  I really need to order the new set of colors....)  I simply colored the flower, added a generous helping of glitter, and finished it off with a large black brad.  I added 3 small brads to the image panel and called it good.  I thought of adding ribbon, but decided against it...I like the crisp, clean look...sometimes simple works!

Image: Stamping Bella
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select, SU! Basic Black, Peach Parfait CS and DSP
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Embellies: Barbara Trombley's Art Glitter in "Angel Dust", Spare Parts Brads

1,2,3....

Good (early) morning!  I'm back with another challenge from the Creative Card Crew!  Our sponsor this fortnight is Robyn's Fetish and our challenge is "1,2,3".  For my card, I used 1 flower, 2 banners, and 3 rhinestones.  You have the freedom to mix up the "1,2,3" and apply it however you wish!

I used one of the cute, new Pure Innocence images and paired it with some travel papers that I have had in my stash for a looong time.  The image is colored with pencils and I added a bit of yellow glitter to the flower in her hair (and also to the flower diecut).

Release Day

Good morning!  Today's the day for Clear Dollar Stamps June release.  I have a couple of cards to share using 2 different digital sets...so let's get to it!

My first card features the set "Hanging Out", which is illustrated by Lisa Lara.  I loved this set the minute I saw it!  It has an assortment of clothing and fun sentiments; it includes line art as well as a colored version.  I decided to go with a shabby-chic look for this card; I chose an assortment of DP from the Simple Stories "Fabulous" collection...I actually used 7 different DPs!  The tank top is paper pieced and I inked the edges of my papers; for embellishing I used crochet lace, ribbon, and an assortment of goodies.

Image: Clear Dollar Stamps "Hanging Out" Digital Set
Ink: Printer, Palette Burnt Umber
Paper: PTI Fine Linen, Simple Stories "Fabulous" DP
Embellies: Crochet Lace (my stash), PTI Dark Chocolate Twill, PTI Buttons, DMC Floss, Prima Flower, Safety Pin (my stash), and Swarovski Flatback Crystals in "Smokey Topaz"

My second card features the set "What a Melon", also illustrated by Lisa Lara.  It includes a variety of melons and sentiments as well, and is perfect for summer!  I went for a more CAS look with this one.  I printed, colored, cut the watermelon out, and then added a bit of glitter to the seeds.  The image panel is popped up and also dry embossed, like the green panel, for a bit of texture.  I like the clean lines of this one.

Here's a close-up showing the glitter and embossed texture.

Fish Whisperer

Good morning!  I was looking through the challenge list at Feline Playful and decided I would make a "man card" with the Bugaboo sketch.  Then I had the great idea of doing a bit of shopping at Bugaboo...they have such fun stamps...there really is something for everyone!

I printed Gus,colored him with pencils, and cut him out with a Spellbinder's die.  The papers are distressed and I added some brads for embellishing.  As I was making this, my husband asked if I was making it for our electrician who just retired and moved up north so he could fish.  Great idea...this one's for Bill!

Paper: G.P. 110, SU! Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point, and Always Artichoke, Bella Blvd. DP

TMS#150

Good morning Tuesday Morning Sketches fans!  Today I have another fun sketch to share.  Our sponsor this week is Designed2Delight and it is a judged challenge...which means there is a twist...kraft and black plus 1 color....  Sounds challenging, right?!

I will admit that I am not so good with color challenges!  This was a toughie for me, but then I remembered this wonderful DP that I had in my stash....  I could use pink (my favorite), stamp on the kraft, and add just a touch of black.  Whew; I felt such relief when I finally had a plan!  I also don't often use sentiments, so this was "out of the box" for me!

I simply stamped my sentiment, used a lot of diecuts, made some felt flowers, and added some crystals.  Voila'!  I like how this one turned out!

Sentiment: PTI Think Big Favorites 1
Ink: PTI Raspberry Fizz
Paper: PTI Raspberry Fizz, Kraft, and True Black, PTI Dotty Biscotti DP
Embellies: Swarovski Flatback Crystals in "Jet"
Extras: Spellbinders Nestabilities, MFT Rolled Rose Die-namics Dies, PTI Raspberry Fizz Felt, Cheery Lynn Fanciful Flourish Die, The Paper Studio Sticky Doos

I hope you will head over here to check out the rest of the DT's creations.  After that, I'd like to see what you come up with using the sketch and twist!

Happy Bearday!

Good morning!  I hope your weekend has gotten off to a good start; mine has.  I took some time to get crafty this morning; we also have family here from out of state and have a family graduation to attend, so it will be a fun day!

I have joined the Forever Friends Monthly Challenge Team.  Actually I am jumping in a bit late with this challenge, as it began Thursday.  I like playing along with the challenges because I get to include an animal on my cards!  Our challenge this month is "Birthday".

I chose this adorable FF bear to work with; I went with plain cardstock and vellum to keep the focus on the cute image.  The vellum actually has a nice texture, but it's hard to see in the photo.  I used my corner rounder to add a bit of interest, added a piece of faux ribbon (I used the MFT Grosgrain Texture Board Die-namics and just ran a strip of CS through my Cuttlebug...super easy, plus you can have "ribbon" in any width or color!), and some rhinestones.

Image: Forever Friends Digital Image
Ink: Printer
Paper: G.P. 110, SU! Pretty in Pink, Papertrey Ink Vellum
Embellies: Me & My Big Ideas Rhinestones
Extras: We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper, MGT Grosgrain Texture Board Die-namics, The Paper Studio Sticky Doos

The sketch I used for my card is from Alota Rubber Stamps and I am also entering my card in the following challenges:

Ruby's Rainbow: Tags

Good morning!  It's time for another fun challenge from Ruby's Rainbow!  This fortnight our challenge was chosen by Jacqui and I have to admit it was a tough one for me....  You see, I am not an out of the box thinker!  I really admire the tags that others design...but had a hard time coming up with a plan.  I finally decided to go with a birthday theme....

I used a fun Changito image...doesn't he look excited!  LOL  He is so darn cute!  I colored the image with pencils, used Nestabilities to diecut and layer, then added a some Swarovski crystals.  I used a PTI die to cut my tag out of DP, added some grosgrain ribbon, popped up my image and added a candle to finish.  I decided to re-purpose a Crystal Light container, so I covered it with number paper to carry out the birthday theme.  I forgot to take a picture of the top, but the lid is decorated with as well; I diecut a circle of DP and mounted it on a scallop circle.  This ought to come in handy; my daughter turns 14 later this summer, plus it always seems like there is always a birthday party for her to attend.  (She went to one last night and I was REALLY SURPRISED when she asked me if she could pick out a card for her friend!  You see, she usually makes fun of my hobby...I was touched that she wanted one of my creations!  I told her to pick anything she wanted....)

Image: Stampendous
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Paper: PTI Stamper's Selet, Berry Sorbet, and Dark Chocolate, American Crafts DP
Embellies: Swarovski Flatback Crystals, Wright's Chocolate Grosgrain Ribbon, Berry Grosgrain Ribbon (my stash), Cake Mate Candle

I hope you will check out the rest of the DT's creations at the Ruby's Rainbow challenge blog; better yet, it would be great to see you create a tag of your own!

I am also entering my creation in the following challenges:

The image is colored with pencils and I used a bit of subtle glitter on the black dots.  I can just tell that Stella is the kind of girl who wants to sparkle!  I added a sentiment, some ribbon, and Swarovski flatbacks.  Might have to send this one to one of my nursing friends...the Depends comment is sure to get a chuckle!

Creative Card Crew...Inspired by a Song

Good morning!  It's time for another challenge from the Creative Card Crew; this fortnight our sponsor is Simon Says Stamp and we would like your card to be inspired by a song.  I'll bet you are thinking that my song is "Happy Birthday"...right?!  Nope!  Actually, the inspiration for my card came from Adele...I love the "21" disc and listen to it a lot....  I thought I would make a 21st birthday card, but when I got out the number dies I realized that they could be used for 12 too.  Since my son will be turning 12 in a few days, I switched gears and went with a "little man" card.

I used some fun birthday paper from my stash and pulled the green to use for my card base.  I simply matted the DP, diecut some numbers, embossed the background diecut and added some brads.  My daughter told me it was a "little plain", but I'm thinking it's just about right for a 12 year-old boy....  We shall see!  LOL

Paper: PTI New Leaf and Dark Chocolate, Doodlebug DP
Embellies: Spare Parts Brads
Extras: PTI Dies, Cuttlebug "Swiss Dots" Embossing Folder

I hope you will stop on over at the Creative Card Crew blog to see what the rest of the girls have made to inspire you.  If you play along, you'll have the chance to win a prize from Simon Says Stamp!

Thanks for stopping by!

Charlie Daisy

Hello there!  How is your Monday going?  After working the weekend, I made sure to get a little crafty time this morning....  The laundry can wait, right?

Today I am working with Clear Dollar Stamps Charlie Daisy.  This set is a fun one because it comes with not only line art, but sentiments, DP and colored images as well.  The fresh turquoise and orange, of the DP, caught my eye so I went with it.  I kept the card very simple with crisp lines and minimal embellishing; I simply matted the image and DP before adding a bit of ribbon, a button, and some twine.

Stamp: Clear Dollar Stamps Charlie Daisy Digital Set
Ink: Printer
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select and Orange Zest, G.P. 110
Embellies: Wright's White Grosgrain Ribbon, PTI Orange Zest Button, Divine Twine
