i {heart} ewe

Good morning!  We have a new challenge for you at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight Helen N. has chosen our challenge and she would like to see "Spots and Stripes"...what a great combo, I love it!

I used an adorable set from The Cat's Pajamas...aren't those sheep too darn cute?  They are colored with pencils and I've accented their hearts with glitter.  I had some tiny, pink acrylic flower embellishments in my stash that I had never opened...it turned out to be perfect for the flower the ewe was holding; I added a Swarovski crystal for a bit of extra sparkle.  The papers are sponged and I've added a flourish and sentiment to complete the card.

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, PTI Smokey Shadow, Sakura Black Gel Pen

Faith

Hello!  I'm sharing another card, that I made for SCS HYCCT challenges; this one is for the "Many Colors of Cancer" challenge.  I chose black, which stands for melanoma.  For my card, I am using Doodle Pantry's Special Ribbons set; it has colored ribbons to represent the different kinds of cancer, matching DPs, and sentiments.  The sketch is from last week's Just Add Ink challenge.

I printed the word "Faith" on my background panel, rounded the corners and adhered it to a black card base.  The ribbon DP was matted and popped up with dimensionals to frame the word.  For embellishing, I've added a button and Swarovski flatback crystal.  The inside is lined with a white panel with the sentiment "It's not what we say that matters, It's what we DO!"

Sentiment: Doodle Pantry "Special Ribbons" Set
Ink: Printer
Paper: G.P. 110, PTI True Black, Doodle Pantry "Special Ribbons" DP
Embellies: PTI Button, Swarovski Flatback Crystal in "Black Diamond"
Extras: Corner Chomper, The Paper Studio Sticky Doos

My Mother was diagnosed with melanoma last spring; thankfully she is doing well as it was caught early.  It was such a surprise as she has not been one to be in the sun a lot; she noticed a "freckle" that didn't look quite right.  When the biopsy came back as melanoma, she underwent a wide excision biopsy.  Even though I'm a nurse, this was not something I was familiar with.  I was shocked at how big her incision was!  She now has to have full body screenings every 3 months; they also recommend her siblings and children be screened too.  This is a deadly form of cancer!  Please be proactive; wear sunscreen and examine your skin for changes.

Doodle Pantry is having a Wild West Sale through October 27; all western themed products are 30% off!  You can check out some awesome cards from the DT and the sale details here.

Thanks for stopping by!

Trick or Tweet

Good morning!  I don't know about you, but I love a good sketch to get my card making process going...it just seems to make everything fall into place so much easier.  How about a great sketch to get the week off to a good start?  Here is the latest sketch from From the Heart Stamps:

I switched it up just a bit and made a square card...I really wanted to use the new Bewitchin' Birdbrains image.  Let me tell you, it was really hard to added the "trick or tweet" banner because I had to cover up some of the pink bird!  LOL  I think she is just too cute...I love her pretty pink shade and her glitter eye shadow too!  I had seen a challenge to make a Halloween card and use pink...I certainly couldn't resist playing along, especially after I found the perfect DP in my stash.  (I can't find the challenge now...hmmm....)  For embellishing I've added lots of diecuts and glittery elements.

Image: FTHS Bewitchin' Birdbrains
Ink: Printer, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Paper: G.P. 110, PTI Raspberry Fizz and True Black, SU! Summer Sun, The Paper Studio Black Glitter CS, Doodlebug DP

You Make Life Sweet

Good morning!  The ladies at Ruby's Rainbow have a new challenge; for this fortnight, Helen has chosen "Food and/or Drink" as our theme.  Sounds fun, right?!

I have used one of my summertime favorites today...Penny Black's adorable pig in a bikini.  I love her and can't resist her charming cuteness!  She is water colored with inks and I've dotted her eyes with a black gel pen and added a Swarovski crystal to her purse.  I've used some old (very) papers from my stash and added a Paper Smooches sentiment and some ribbon for embellishing.

Image: Penny Black
Sentiment: Paper Smooches
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, SU! Blush Blossom, Regal Rose, Bliss Blue, Marina Mist, and Chocolate Chip Ink Pads, Sakura Black Gel Pen

CAS Baby

Good morning!  We have a new challenge, for this fortnight, from the Creative Card Crew.  We would like to see lots of pink or blue, or a baby card...yay, I love both!

This card started out pink, but I ended up switching to a white card base...I think I like it better.  The onesie is paper pieced, the trim colored with a pencil, and accented with glitter.  I've done very minimal embellishing...a simple button with a Swarovski flatback (it's a bit hard to see...it's pink) on top.

Image/Sentiment: PTI Bitty Baby Blessings
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, SU! Black Marker
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select and Dark Chocolate, Doodlebug DP

Hello there!  It's the 15th, so that means it's time for another release from Clearly Digi Stamps!  The designers have outdone themselves again and it was really hard to pick 2 sets to work with...I've chosen Baby II by Austin Owens and Peep Peeps by Lisa Lara.

I decided to do a bit of paper piecing with Baby II; I used some zebra DP, paired it with crushed velvet CS, and added a bit of ribbon, a button, and a crystal.  I wish you could feel it, the paper is so soft!

I used the pre-colored images and coordinating DP from the Peep Peeps set.  I layered the image and sentiment over the DP before printing; I added mini black brads and glitter.  This set has so many fun images and sentiments...I can't wait to use them all!

Good Sunday morning!  It's time for our monthly blog hop with the gals at Clear Dollar Stamps.  This month our theme is "Sentiments Only" (No images on front of card.)

I am working with the digital set "Christian Sympathy" today.  There are a lot of different sentiments, both in black and white and in color to match the 3 coordinating DPs that come with the set.  I simply resized and printed my paper and sentiment.  I did a bit of layering and added a rolled felt flower adorned with a crystal. These can be made fairly quickly, so I made about a dozen extra.

Clearly Digi Stamps August Release

Hello!  I'm back with some samples from the August release.  Today I'm working with 2 sets drawn by Austin Owens, Baby and Bugs.

For my first card I have used an image from Baby.  I wanted to make a baby girl card, but decided to mix it up a bit by using green and accenting with pink.  The image is colored with pencils, the baby blanket is paper pieced, and I've added buttons and twine for embellishing.

Image: Clearly Digi Stamps "Baby" Digital Set
Ink: Printer
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select and New Leaf, Doodlebug DP
Embellies: Divine Twine, Buttons
Extras: Prismas/Goo Gone, Spellbinder's Nestabilities, The Paper Studio Sticky Doos

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Card Crafter's Circle: Oh Baby!
Fetch a Sketch: Sketch

Next I have a couple of cards using Bugs.  I kept them very simple with a lot of white space; I wanted to keep the focus on the pretty images.  For the first, I combined the image with a sentiment, colored the image, and popped up the image panel for a bit of dimension.

I have to tell you, I was a bit afraid of coloring the rose on the second card, but once I got started I had fun!  I like the combo of pink and orange...it's fun and cheerful!  Again, I layered the image panel and added some Swarovski flatbacks for a bit of sparkle.

Image: Clearly Digi Stamps "Bugs" Digital Set
Sentiment: Clearly Digi Stamps "Faith" Digital Set
Ink: Printer
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select
Embellies: Swarovski Flatback Crystals in "Topaz"

Ruby's Rainbow: Tags

Good morning!  It's time for another fun challenge from Ruby's Rainbow!  This fortnight our challenge was chosen by Jacqui and I have to admit it was a tough one for me....  You see, I am not an out of the box thinker!  I really admire the tags that others design...but had a hard time coming up with a plan.  I finally decided to go with a birthday theme....

I used a fun Changito image...doesn't he look excited!  LOL  He is so darn cute!  I colored the image with pencils, used Nestabilities to diecut and layer, then added a some Swarovski crystals.  I used a PTI die to cut my tag out of DP, added some grosgrain ribbon, popped up my image and added a candle to finish.  I decided to re-purpose a Crystal Light container, so I covered it with number paper to carry out the birthday theme.  I forgot to take a picture of the top, but the lid is decorated with as well; I diecut a circle of DP and mounted it on a scallop circle.  This ought to come in handy; my daughter turns 14 later this summer, plus it always seems like there is always a birthday party for her to attend.  (She went to one last night and I was REALLY SURPRISED when she asked me if she could pick out a card for her friend!  You see, she usually makes fun of my hobby...I was touched that she wanted one of my creations!  I told her to pick anything she wanted....)

Image: Stampendous
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Paper: PTI Stamper's Selet, Berry Sorbet, and Dark Chocolate, American Crafts DP
Embellies: Swarovski Flatback Crystals, Wright's Chocolate Grosgrain Ribbon, Berry Grosgrain Ribbon (my stash), Cake Mate Candle
Extras: Crayola's/Goo Gone, PTI Tag Die, Spellbinders Nestabilities, SU! Dimensionals

I hope you will check out the rest of the DT's creations at the Ruby's Rainbow challenge blog; better yet, it would be great to see you create a tag of your own!

The image is colored with pencils and I used a bit of subtle glitter on the black dots.  I can just tell that Stella is the kind of girl who wants to sparkle!  I added a sentiment, some ribbon, and Swarovski flatbacks.  Might have to send this one to one of my nursing friends...the Depends comment is sure to get a chuckle!

Tuesday Morning Sketches: Norma Jean

Good morning!  (Again, for Creative Card Crew post, please scroll...thank you.)  It's time for another sketch from the ladies at Tuesday Morning Sketches.  Our sponsor this week is Sassy Studio Designs.

I was really excited to work with this SSD image, which was given to me...I have always been intrigued by Marilyn Monroe.  I even did a research paper on her in high school!  I wanted to keep the focus on the beautifully drawn image, which is colored with Copics and pencils, so instead of adding panels to the two corners, I paper pierced some holes and added crystals for further definition.  This card is a big one...5x7 inches.

Image: Sassy Studio Designs Digital Image
Paper: Gina K. Pure Luxury CS, PTI Hibiscus Burst and True Black, Theresa Collins DP
Embellies: Swarovski Flatback Crystals
Extras: Copic Markers, Prismas/Goo Gone, Spellbinder's Nestabilities, Crafter's Workshop Circular Template, Dimensionals

You "GoGo" Girl!

Good morning!  I have a fun card to share with you today....  Yesterday I was blurfing and my friend Kathleen had the most amazing card that I just had to CASE it.  (Check it out HERE)I loved both her image and layout, so I used those as a starting point and put my own twist on it.

I remembered this fun DP that I've had in my stash for a looong time...I thought the retro vibe was perfect for this image and couldn't wait to paper piece her dress!  As I was cutting it out, I really questioned my choice...the pieces are tiny!  The image is colored with pencils and I added some subtle glitter to her headband, belt, and boots.  I used some dies from The Cat's Pajamas for the border and the sentiment.  I added some (actually LOTS!) of Swarovski flatback crystals to "bling it up" a bit.

be unique

Good morning!  I was browsing the Pottery Barn Teen website, looking for bedding, and came across a pillow  that really caught my eye.  I was inspired me to make this card....  Let me tell you, I was really exited to come up with an original idea!  A lot of the time I use a sketch as a springboard.  I also don't tend to make many CAS cards, so this was a fun change.  I do have some other ideas that I hope to try out soon....

Paper: PTI Stamper's Select, True Black, Raspberry Fizz
Embellie: Swarovski Flatback Crystal
