Inner Tube Birdbrain

Good morning!  It's time for a new challenge from the ladies at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight, Neva is challenging us to "Use a Transparent Element".  Fun!

I used a Birdbrain and this week's From the Heart Stamps sketch for my card.  My transparent element is clouds, die cut from recycled packaging.  I've colored the image with pencils and added some glitter to the inner tube and her eyelids.  The sun is die cut from sparkly CS, and the clouds are die cut from felt and acetate packaging.  I've added some ribbon and a few buttons for embellishing.  Here's a close-up of the embellishing:

Catch the Bug ABC

Good morning; it's ABC Monday at Catch the Bug!  With graduation just around the corner, I decorated a little tin for gift giving!

I decided to go non-traditional and use pink instead of the school colors!  The image is colored with pencils and the pink stars are accented with glitter to coordinate with the sparkly pink band.  I've done some simple layering and adhered the panel to the tin with foam tape.  I've added some iridescent shred and a die cut "16" to finish.  You can hide all sorts of goodies within the shred...gift cards, money, candy, small gifts, etc.

ABC Monday

Good morning!  It's "Anything But a Card" day at Catch the Bug!  Today I have made a bookmark, and a simple card to present it in.  I've been playing along with the Splitcoaststampers Hope You Can Cling To challenges; this one is for the "Tag, You're It!" challenge.  I thought it would be fun to turn the tag into a bookmark!

The image is colored with pencils and the halo and wings are accented with glitter.  I've used a PTI die to cut the bookmark and have added some fibers to the top.  For the card, I've added a pocket decorated simply with brads.  This is how the card and bookmark look together:

Good morning!  Today is my last post as guest designer at Sketch Saturday...I have loved playing along; thank you so much, to the team, for having me!  It was fun this week since we were able to choose our sketch...there are a lot of great ones to choose from too....  Here's the one I choose:

Bugaboo is the sponsor for the week, so I combined this challenge with Bugaboo's End of Summer recipe challenge...use Bling, the color Teal, and a Die or a Punch.  Sounds fun, right?!  The end of summer means back-to-school to me, so I went with a fun Margaret image.  I'll bet the kids don't mess with Margaret!  LOL  She's colored with pencils and I've given her "diamond" earrings.  The fun patterned papers are Doodlebug and I've embellished with die cut stars and a-b-c, along with a bit more bling.  I like how this one turned out, I think I may send it to a friend who is studying to become a teacher.

Image: Bugaboo Margaret Calendar Month-September
Ink: Printer, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Paper: G.P. 110, SU! (teal), PTI Smokey Shadow, Doodlebug Patterned Paper

I went with an altered Crystal Light container.  It's covered with patterned paper and I've made a tag to embellish it.  I've added ribbon, brads, and a mini metal clip; the inside is filled with red shredded paper...perfect to hide a gift card or some little goodies!

Love Heart

Good (early) morning!  I'm here with a new Flat Friends challenge for the month of May; this month we would like to see you use your dies and punches.  When I saw this adorable new image, I thought of this heart border die and knew they'd be a perfect match!  The image is colored, fussy cut, and popped up over the layered die cuts.  I thought fussy cutting the image was a great idea...until I started doing it!  LOL  Does that ever happen to any of you?  I've added a bit of bling for embellishing.

Hello and Happy Valentine's Day; I hope you have some fun plans for the day!  I love making Valentine cards so I thought I would whip up one more today; I found some fun challenges and paired them with Doodle Pantry's Kissy Lips set, along with the Mojo Monday sketch.

I've used a pre-colored image and a sentiment from the set; there is also line art and patterned papers too.  The lips are printed and fussy cut then adhered to a die cut tag.  I've embellished the card with some twill, a button, and some Swarovski flatbacks (they are red, but appear dark in the photo).

i {heart} u

Good morning!  It's time for a new challenge from the ladies at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight Helen has chosen our challenge and she would like to see you use a doily on your card.  Let's get to it!

This simple card took me forever to make; I almost threw in the towel a couple of times, but since I didn't want to waste the paper I kept plugging away!  LOL  Why is clean and simple so hard?  I have done no stamping on this card, but I did put my dies to work...doily, flower, heart, alphabet.  For embellishing, I made a felt flower and used some cool zebra print bling (I couldn't resist buying it..I LOVE animal print!) that has been in my stash just waiting for it's moment to shine!

Ink: SU! Black Marker
Paper: SU! Melon Mambo, The Paper Studio Black Glitter CS, Echo Park DP
Embellies: Spare Parts Bling
Extras: Corner Chomper, PTI Doily Details Die A and Block Alphabet, MFT Rolled Flower Die-namics Die/PTI Raspberry Fizz Felt, Verve From the Heart Die

I hope you will check out the rest of the DT's doily creations...they are sure to inspire you...we hope you will play along!

Sweet 16

Good morning!  I have a card to share and some exciting news...for the month of September I am Bugaboo Stamps Biggest Fan and will get to play along with their challenges!  How cool is that?  It's no secret that I am a huge fan, so I can't tell you how excited I was to get the email.

This is for the "Anything Goes" challenge.  I made this for one of my daughter's besties; I thought it was appropriate since my daughter has been doing a cupcake fundraiser this year.  She has 53 cupcakes on her menu and I tell you, we are knee deep in cupcakes...yummy!

"Girl Cupcakes" is colored with pencils and I've added some subtle glitter to the brown areas...I see the camera angle didn't capture it well though.  I've had these cupcake papers in my stash for years...love them!  I pieced together some of the coordinating papers for a fun backdrop for the "16".  For embellishing, I've used a bit of ribbon and some Swarovski Flatbacks.

Image: Bugaboo Stamps
Ink: Printer
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select and Dark Chocolate, SU! Cool Caribbean, Carta Bella DP
Embellies: SU! Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon, Swarovski Flatback Crystals in "Smokey Topaz", Martha Stewart Crystal Fine Glitter

40TH Birthday

Good morning!  Thought I would share the card I made for my younger sister's birthday; as you see, she's the BIG 4-0!  I remember when I turned 30 and she couldn't believe I was "that old"!  LOL

I knew I wanted to go with a bit of humor and Stella fits the bill!  She is colored with pencils...I held myself in check with the glitter, as my sister really isn't a glittery type of girl...it was hard though.  I pieced together a background of DP strips, added some Bella Dots in the corners, and the number 40 to finish it off.  Below is the message inside:

Image/Sentiment: Bugaboo Stamps
Ink: Printer
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select, SU! Poppy Parade, American Crafts DP
Embellies: Bella Dots

JOY Tag

I'm back with a tag for Bugaboo's Christmas in July Thursday "Tag You're It" challenge!  I made a tag to go with a gift box of cupcakes.  The sentiment is colored with pencils and accented with glitter; I've utilized some die cuts and added twill and twine for embellishing.

You can see the tag a bit better in this shot; I was having a hard time photographing the box...the clear window made a "glare" on the photo.

Sentiment: Bugaboo Stamps
Ink: Printer
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select and Dark Chocolate, The Paper Studio DP

Creative Card Crew Chocolate Challenge

Good morning!  It's time for another fun challenge from the Creative Card Crew; for this fortnight, our challenge is chocolate...mmm!  I've had a lot going on lately and I confess to running out of time, so I ended up using a card I had CASE'd from Wanda, of Cullen-ary Creations.  I thought it was so cute, that I made a few for my stash.  I changed the colors and the sentiment, but stuck with her layout and diecut shapes.

Sentiment: Verve
Ink: Palette Burnt Umber
Paper: PTI Fine Linen and Dark Chocolate,  Doodlebug Glitter CS, Bo Bunny DP
Embellies: Bella Dots
Extras: Spellbinder's Nestabilites, PTI Border Die

I hope you will check out the rest of the DT's cards and play along for a chance to win a prize from Pizzazz Aplenty.

I'm realizing it's been a week since I posted; it has been whirlwind the past 2-3 weeks.  My 14 year old has kept me hopping.  She plays AAU volleyball and had a sore, bruised back from "digging" and rolling to her back to jump up.  When I checked her back, I discovered she has scoliosis...I felt sick to my stomach.  Our visit, the next day, to our family doctor confirmed my suspicions.  Next stop was X-Rays...which made me even sicker to my stomach...and a visit to an orthopedic surgeon, who is a friend and colleague .  We are heading to a pediatric orthopedic surgeon, whose specialty is spines, tomorrow.  We will find out more about her treatment plan then.  My friend thinks she will likely be in a brace for 20 hours a day, which will prevent further curvature, but will not fix the damage already done.  Only surgery, consisting of hooks and rods in her spine, will fix that.  It has been an emotional time...I wish it was me instead.  My daughter is an athlete; it's hard to understand how/why this could be missed during her athletic physicals.  So, all you mothers out there, please check your daughters' backs...now!  I understand that this doesn't occur in schools like it used to.  Do you all remember the school nurse checking your back?  That simple screen is very important!

In addition to this, she had just started a cupcake fundraiser to raise money for a trip overseas the summer of 2014.  It has really taken off; right now we are living and breathing cupcakes...dozens and dozens of them!

Thanks for stopping by!
