Creative Card Crew Chocolate Challenge

Good morning!  It's time for another fun challenge from the Creative Card Crew; for this fortnight, our challenge is chocolate...mmm!  I've had a lot going on lately and I confess to running out of time, so I ended up using a card I had CASE'd from Wanda, of Cullen-ary Creations.  I thought it was so cute, that I made a few for my stash.  I changed the colors and the sentiment, but stuck with her layout and diecut shapes.

Sentiment: Verve
Ink: Palette Burnt Umber
Paper: PTI Fine Linen and Dark Chocolate,  Doodlebug Glitter CS, Bo Bunny DP
Embellies: Bella Dots
Extras: Spellbinder's Nestabilites, PTI Border Die

I hope you will check out the rest of the DT's cards and play along for a chance to win a prize from Pizzazz Aplenty.

I'm realizing it's been a week since I posted; it has been whirlwind the past 2-3 weeks.  My 14 year old has kept me hopping.  She plays AAU volleyball and had a sore, bruised back from "digging" and rolling to her back to jump up.  When I checked her back, I discovered she has scoliosis...I felt sick to my stomach.  Our visit, the next day, to our family doctor confirmed my suspicions.  Next stop was X-Rays...which made me even sicker to my stomach...and a visit to an orthopedic surgeon, who is a friend and colleague .  We are heading to a pediatric orthopedic surgeon, whose specialty is spines, tomorrow.  We will find out more about her treatment plan then.  My friend thinks she will likely be in a brace for 20 hours a day, which will prevent further curvature, but will not fix the damage already done.  Only surgery, consisting of hooks and rods in her spine, will fix that.  It has been an emotional time...I wish it was me instead.  My daughter is an athlete; it's hard to understand how/why this could be missed during her athletic physicals.  So, all you mothers out there, please check your daughters' backs...now!  I understand that this doesn't occur in schools like it used to.  Do you all remember the school nurse checking your back?  That simple screen is very important!

In addition to this, she had just started a cupcake fundraiser to raise money for a trip overseas the summer of 2014.  It has really taken off; right now we are living and breathing cupcakes...dozens and dozens of them!

Thanks for stopping by!

Angela

OMG Angela! There is absolutely nothing as heartbreaking as knowing you can't save your kids from going through something like that. In one way it must make it easier that you have the background to know more about scoliosis....and in others of course harder because you do know exactly what can go wrong. Jeez. You're all in my thoughts while you go through this, Angela.
(As a PS - I fondly remember the school nurses I had - but now? No nurses at my kids' schools. I imagine a lot of screening just isn't done anymore)

Cute card, love that Verve sent, so true! Beautiful case of Wanda's card.

Hoping things go well with the pediatric orthopedist.

LOL, about living and breathing cupcakes, that is probably better than eating all of them! So glad the fundraiser has really taken off!
