Flurry of Wishes

Good morning!  It's Monday so that means we have a new sketch (and twist) for you at From the Heart Stamps...here it is:

I had to use one of Faith's newest images...Flurry!  (It is so appropriate for the weather we are getting here.  For the last 4 weeks we have had snow or blizzards at the beginning of the week...thankfully it was just snow on Sunday, I think it will be okay getting to work Monday.)  I think this is one of the cutest snowmen ever!  I've colored it with pencils and added just a touch of glitter to his heart.  I kept it clean and simple with minimal layering, and added some paper piercing and brads for interest, along with a die cut snowflake.  Here's a close-up:

On the Beach/Under the Sea

Happy Tuesday!  It's time for another fun challenge from Creative Card Crew; this fortnight out challenge is "On the Beach/Under the Sea" and our sponsor is Michelle Perkett.  I am using the lovely "Camille"...thank you Michelle!

After printing the image, I started coloring...colored some more...and some more!  I was thinking that this image was a bit too ambitious for me...I really wish I had that natural coloring ability that some people are lucky to have.  I kept on coloring and finally finished...yay!  I used the sketch from Stampin With the Dragon; I used my corner rounder, did some piercing, added ribbon and gems, and applied a bit of glitter to the pink trim.

Clear Dollar Stamps May Blog Hop

Good morning!  Today I have some fun news to share....  I have been asked to join the Clear Dollar Stamps DT...and I accepted!  I thought I would jump right in with the monthly blog hop.  The theme for May is "Something With Wings" and there is a prize up for grabs...more about that later!

Today I am working with the "Bumbles" digital set, which has a darling assortment of cute bees and sentiments. I printed the image, colored it with pencils and accented the wings with glitter.  I used 2 different glitters...a extra sparkly one for the bottom wings and one with a more subtle sparkle for the larger wings...I wanted to make sure that the blue shading would show through the glitter.  The image is layered with diecuts before piercing a "trail", then popped up for dimension.  I added the sentiment printed on blue paper and some blue Bella Dots to bring out the bits of blue in the DP.

Image/Sentiment: Clear Dollar Stamps "Bumbles" Digital Set
Ink: Printer
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select, Dark Chocolate, and Harvest Gold, Carolee's Creations DP

Tuesday Morning Sketches: Norma Jean

Good morning!  (Again, for Creative Card Crew post, please scroll...thank you.)  It's time for another sketch from the ladies at Tuesday Morning Sketches.  Our sponsor this week is Sassy Studio Designs.

I was really excited to work with this SSD image, which was given to me...I have always been intrigued by Marilyn Monroe.  I even did a research paper on her in high school!  I wanted to keep the focus on the beautifully drawn image, which is colored with Copics and pencils, so instead of adding panels to the two corners, I paper pierced some holes and added crystals for further definition.  This card is a big one...5x7 inches.

Image: Sassy Studio Designs Digital Image
Paper: Gina K. Pure Luxury CS, PTI Hibiscus Burst and True Black, Theresa Collins DP
Embellies: Swarovski Flatback Crystals
Extras: Copic Markers, Prismas/Goo Gone, Spellbinder's Nestabilities, Crafter's Workshop Circular Template, Dimensionals

TMS#136

Good Tuesday morning!  Marie has designed our sketch this week at Tuesday Morning Sketches.  It's a really versatile one; as soon as I saw it, I thought that you could do a large image in the bottom panel, or use a cute little image in the circle....  I decided I'd used a DeNami chick...love them!

The chick is colored with pencils; her eyes are dotted with a black gel pen and I added just a touch of glitter to the center of the flower.  I added a bit of paper piercing for interest and popped the image panel up on dimensionals.

Image: DeNami Designs
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select, SU! Baja Breeze and Rose Red, 3 Bugs in a Rug DP
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Embellie: Martha Stewart Crystal Fine Glitter
Extras: Spellbinders Nestabilities, Tim Holtz Piercing Ruler, Dimensionalss

I hope you will check out the rest of the DT's cards today...I know I can't wait to see their interpretation of the sketch!  What will YOU do with the sketch?!

Creative Card Crew: Fantasy

Good morning!  It's time for another Creative Card Crew challenge; this fortnight our theme is "fantasy" and our sponsor is Michelle Perkett.  Michelle has some beautiful fairies, but I couldn't resist this whimsical mermaid; I think she's a doll!  Thank you, Michelle!

When I was working on my card, I couldn't decide whether I should go with birthday or water themed DP.  I finally settled on these cute fish....  The DP was already distressed, but I distressed the edges further to give it a bit more texture; I like the shabby look paired with the crisp white cardbase and image panel.  The image is colored with pencils and accented with glitter and mini brads.  I pierced a circle, added some brads and popped the image up.

Image: Michelle Perkett  Digital Stamp'
Ink: Sakura Black Gel Pen
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select, Fancy Pants Designs DP
Embellies: Barbara Trombley's Art Glitter in "Pink Smoothie", Recollections Brads

I have seen some peeks at the rest of the DT's cards; you won't want to miss peeking yourself!  Better yet, why not play along for a chance to win this fortnight's prize?  (Michelle Perkett's "Lily" image.)

Have a Holly Jolly Christmas

Good morning! I had a day off yesterday and had the opportunity to play the Splitcoaststampers sketch challenge. It was a fun sketch...will probably use it again for another card....

I used the My Mind's Eye 12 Days of Christmas pad and went for a bright and cheery look...I think the non-traditional colors are fun! Fluffles is colored with pencils, his eyes are dotted with a black gel pen, and the ornaments are accented with glitter. I added a sentiment from Verve, some ribbon, and brads to finish the card.

Image: Stampendous
Sentiment: Verve "Holly Jolly"
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select and Pure Poppy, SU! Bermuda Bay
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Embellies: SU! Red Grosgrain Ribbon, Spare Parts Brads, Barbara Trombley's Art Glitter in "Angel Dust"
Extras: Prismas/Goo Gone, Tim Holtz Piercing Ruler, Lasting Impressions Piercer, The Paper Studio Sticky Doos

Below is a picture of the January card kit made for my S.S. I went with a winter theme; included were images from Stampendous and Kraftin' Kimmie, DP from Imaginisce (also a matching stamp), cardstock, diecut snowflakes, ribbons, and assorted brads. I really like making these and keep thinking it would be really fun to be able to do something creative like this for a living. No, I won't quit my day job! LOL

Thanks so much for stopping by; I hope you have a great day!

Creative Card Crew: 'Tis the Season

Good morning! It's time for another challenge from Creative Card Crew; this fortnight our challenge is "'Tis the Season" and our sponsor is Simon Says Stamp.

I happened to come across this cute Stampendous set that I bought awhile ago...I had forgotten about it, because it was purchased way before the holidays. Anyway, I am happy to have found it...I think the little elf is adorable! I love her child-like exuberance!

The image is colored with pencils and accented it with glitter. I decided on a bright color scheme...I love the pink/red combo! For embellishing, I paper pierced, added some brads, and finished it off with some ribbon. I used Jen del Muro's December Sketch for You to Try.

I must confess this is "version 2". As I was uploading the photos of my card, I decided I didn't like the proportions of the image panel.... So back to the craft table I went! I stamped, colored, and mounted a new image panel and took off the original image panel (it came off in 1 piece, so I will be able to use it for another card). "Version 1" was not mounted on colored CS; the image was diecut only...it seemed to get lost on the card. I really like this version better...the only thing I would change is the position of the knot on the ribbon...I would center it perhaps. Just wondering if any of you ever do any "card surgery"? LOL

Image: Stampendous
Paper: SU! Melon Mambo, PTI Vintage Cream and Pure Poppy, My Mind's Eye DP
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Embellies: Doodlebug Glitter (Turquoise), Barbara Trombley's Art Glitter in "Angel Dust", Spare Parts Brads, Wright's Red Grosgrain Ribbon
Extras: Prismas/Crayolas/Goo Gone, Spellbinder's Nestabilities, Crafter's Workshop Circular Template, The Paper Studio Sticky Doos

I hope you'll head over to the Creative Card Crew blog to check out what the rest of the the DT has created to get you inspired. The theme is easy-peasy, so we'd love to see you play along too!

Thanks for stopping by!

TMS#100

Good Tuesday morning! It's time for another challenge from Melissa at
Tuesday Morning Sketches...can you believe it's week 100! Wow, how cool is that?! Our sponsor this week is Stamping Boutique; they provided me with this darling basket image. I love it...it's so summery!

The image is colored with pencils and I added some subtle glitter to the centers of the flowers. (Click on the image to get a larger view.) I pierced my circle and then added some brads and a message to finish it off. I like the simple layout.

CAS Chicks

Good Monday morning! Did you have a good weekend? I worked, so I have lots of catching up to do. Two days away from home = 1 messy house! Can you relate?

I made these clean and simple cards not too long ago to add to my stash. They were quick to make; minimal layering, a bit coloring, some glitter and paper piercing. I made some in each color combo; even though pink is my favorite color, I think I like the blue better.

Here's a close-up.

Image: Stampendous Calendar Chicks "Flower Chick"
Sentiment: SU!
Paper: G.P. 110, SU! Bashful Blue, Pretty in Pink, Garden Green
Embellie: Glitter
Extras: Crayolas/Goo Gone, Tim Holtz Piercing Ruler

I'll be back tomorrow with a card for Tuesday Morning Sketches. Thanks for stopping by today; have a good week!

CAS92: Grateful For You, Friend

Good morning! I always wonder how Monday gets here so fast?! I checked out the clean and simple challenge on SCS before I went to bed last night; I had to sleep on it, since it's not a combo I would have thought of. I think it's really pretty though!

I stamped my images on DP with Crumb Cake ink; I like how it's so soft and muted. I chose organdy ribbon and a muted white button for embellishing. It's a bit hard to see in the photo, but "grateful for you" is stamped over the friend. This card was quick and easy; good for large batches.

Images/Sentiments: PTI Friends 'Til The End
Ink: SU! Crumb Cake, Palette New Canvas
Paper: PTI Kraft, SU! DP
Embellies: SU! White Organdy Ribbon, PTI Button
Extras: Tim Holtz Piercing Ruler, Thread

I hope your week has gotten off to a good start! Thanks for stopping by!

CAS Graduation

Good Friday morning! It is wet and drizzly here today; I am really hoping it will clear up for the weekend as it is graduation. Our colors are gold and black; our mascot is a lion. Since I didn't have a lion (with cap and scroll) stamp, I decided to go with this cute little Stampendous Calendar Chick.
The chick is colored with pencils, cut out with nesties and mounted on the new large scallop circle. The card is very simply embellished; I just paper pierced a line, used my Scor-Pal to add a couple of lines, and finished it off with some brads. (I actually use this technique a lot...it's fast and easy!)

Just Bee-cuzzz

Good Sunday morning!
Janet issued the challenge of paper piercing this week on The Corrosive Challenge Blog I love to paper pierce! I have a couple of different tools that I use; the first is a metal template from Lasting Impressions and the second is Tim Holtz's piercing ruler. I used the ruler for this card; I love that it is clear so I can visualize my project better. It also has a very fine grid that makes lining things up very easy.
I used Mercy's sketch; I really thought it was a fun one and I plan to use it again! I also used a new digi image from Pink Cat Studio; I just love the whimsey of Melissa's characters.... Isn't this little Lily just darling? Don't you just love her beehive hairdo? LOL It's so perfect for a little bee!
Image: Pink Cat Studio Digi
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select, Lemon Tart and Dark Chocolate, Heidi Grace DP
Embellie: Barbara Trombley's Art Glitter (wings), Doodlebug Glitter (brown)
Extras: Prismas/Crayolas/Goo Gone, Sakura Black Glaze Pen, Spellbinders Nestabilities, Tim Holtz Piercing Ruler, Foam Tape
I borrowed a trick from my friend Larissa, and dotted Lily's eyes with a black glaze pen. I also used glitter liberally; Lily really sparkles! Actually glitter is the only embellie I used on this card...I'm not really sure where I would put ribbon or brads.... Have you ever done that? Made a card without ribbon, brads, flowers, etc.? I feel like it "works" for this card....
I hope to try this layout again with butterfly Lily and ladybug Lily. If only there were more time in the day!
I hope you have time to stop by and check out the other DT's cards today; check my sidebar for links to their blogs. Maybe you can even play along!
Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy your Sunday!

Clean and Simple: One of a Kind Friend

Good Tuesday Morning!
I 'm heading to work early this a.m. to host our annual Doctor's Day Brunch, so I need to make this a quickie! I made this card for the PTI swap I'm hosting. When I was finished, I was a little amazed that I included piercing, a button, twill, and glitter...yet it is still clean and simple (CAS).
Image/Sentiments: PTI Friends "Til the End
Ink: Palette Burnt Umber, Versamark
Paper: PTI Kraft, Hibiscus Burst and New Leaf
Embellies: Lasting Impressions Piercing Template/Piercer, PTI Wood Button/Twine, PTI Dark Chocolate Twill, Barbara Trombley's Art Glitter in "Pink Smoothie"
It takes a bit of time to cut the flowers/leaves out, but I think the final result is worth it. I tried to attatch a close-up of the flower detail, but the picture is too small.... Hmmm, I will have to figure that out....
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a great day at work; whether you go to a job, or work at home!

"Little Man" Swap Card

Hello!
My friend Jen, over at SCS, is hosting a "Man Card" swap; I signed up for the "Little Man" category and this is what I came up with. I knew right away I would use Changito! I thought the bright colors would be a hit with the kids.
The photo doesn't capture all of the detail; I paper pierced a line and then placed the brads in every third piercing. As I'm looking at the photo, it appears the line is a bit wonky.... This is the trouble I sometimes have with brads; I know the pierced line is straight, but the prongs of brads are not always centered. Hence, the wonky line! This is one of the reasons I like the Bella Dots; I can center them evenly.... Don't get me wrong, I love brads too! Sometimes it just depends on the technique you are using. Has anybody else ever had this trouble or is it just me?
Image/Sentiment: Stampendous
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: G.P. White, SU! Yo Yo Yellow and Brilliant Blue, Piggy Tales DP
Embellies: Spare Parts Brads
Extras: Crayola Colored Pencils, Tim Holtz Piercing Ruler, Foam Tape
I need to try to get these in the mail either today or tomorrow so they make the deadline. I am working a couple of 3-11 shifts, so it is throwing everything off just a bit...it's been almost 10 years since I worked that shift.
I hope you have a great day; thanks for stopping by!
