Sketch Saturday #423

Good morning sketch fans!  Today is the 5th Saturday of the month so that means you can pick any sketch from the Sketch Saturday Archive.  Don't you just love having so many choices?  I know I do!

I went with Sketch #216, and changed the format from square to rectangle.  (I've had this image colored and on standby; this sketch was the perfect opportunity to use it!)  Here's the sketch:

The image is colored with pencils and I've added lots of glitter...my favorite embellishment!  The red panel is embossed; the dots remind me of a blizzard.  The patterned paper is pearlized and so beautiful in real life.  I've added a smattering of sparkly snowflakes embellished with brads/mini brads, along with some tiny foil snowflakes.  (The snowflakes dies are from Lawn Fawn; I love the mini size!)  Here's a close-up:

Sketch Saturday #419

Good morning!  Saturday means we have a new sketch for you at Sketch Saturday, along with a new sponsor...Sami Stamps!  Here's our sketch:

I was trying to figure out how to make the sketch work and I remembered some dies I had from Memory Box...it all came together from there!  The papers have been in my stash for years, but I thought they were perfect for the image; I have done some light distressing to the edges.  The image is colored with pencils and accented with glitter.  This was a fun way to briefly escape the summer heat and I like the non-traditional colors!

Ink: Printer
Paper: G.P. 110 CS, PTI Stamper's Select and New Leaf CS, Fancy Pants Designs Patterned Paper

Let it snow!

Good morning!  We have a new challenge for you from the ladies at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight Silvi has chosen a Color Combo!  She would like to see Red, Green, and White/Cream...sounds fun!

I immediately thought of Christmas and used one of Faith's Birdbrains that I already had printed.  The image is colored with pencils and I've added some glittery "eye shadow".  The sketch is from Mojo Monday; I've done some simple layering and embellished with a glittery snowflake and sentiment.  I think the Birdbrain looks a bit disgruntled at the prospect of snow...the same way I feel!  Here's a close-up:

Image: From the Heart Stamps "Birdbrain Winter Scarf" Digital Set
Sentiment: SU!
Ink: Printer, Memento Tuxedo Black

Since we still have a lot of snow around here I went with a snowman, but I used Spring-ish colors because hopefully Spring will soon be here!  The image is colored with pencils and I've added a touch of glitter to the "snow".  I've embellished with a sentiment banner and snowflake.  Here's a detail shot:

Flurry of Wishes

Good morning!  It's Monday so that means we have a new sketch (and twist) for you at From the Heart Stamps...here it is:

I had to use one of Faith's newest images...Flurry!  (It is so appropriate for the weather we are getting here.  For the last 4 weeks we have had snow or blizzards at the beginning of the week...thankfully it was just snow on Sunday, I think it will be okay getting to work Monday.)  I think this is one of the cutest snowmen ever!  I've colored it with pencils and added just a touch of glitter to his heart.  I kept it clean and simple with minimal layering, and added some paper piercing and brads for interest, along with a die cut snowflake.  Here's a close-up:

Image: From the Heart Stamps "Flurry" Digital Set
Ink: Printer, Signo Black Gel Pen
Paper: G.P. 110 CS, PTI Stamper's Select CS, SU! Baja Breeze CS, Doodlebug Sugar Coated CS, Echo Park Patterned Paper

Good morning!  It's time for a new challenge from the ladies at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight Helen has chosen our challenge and it is..."Animal Magic".

Well, I think it's pretty magical when a giant bird does the snow shoveling!  LOL  (Is anyone else out there getting hammered with winter weather?  We have been in the midst of a cold snap.)  I've used one of Faith's adorable Birdbrains; he's colored with pencils and I've accented the snow with glitter and accented the card with a die cut snowflake.

Sketch Saturday #395

Good morning sketch fans!  We have a new sketch for you, along with a new sponsor...Bunny Zoe's Crafts.  Here's the sketch:

I really love this one, even though I made some modifications.  I had to turn it into a square because of the image size, then I didn't have room for the banners on the bottom.  Ugh!  Hopefully you can still see the "bones" of the sketch!

We are in the midst of a cold snap here, so I went with a fun, winter image from The Cat's Pajamas.  I've colored the ewe with pencils and paper pieced her scarf and pockets.  The papers have been in my stash a long time and I like that the burgundy paper has a nice "knit" like texture to it.  I've embellished with snowflakes accented with Swarovski flatback crystals.

Here's a close-up of the snowflakes and paper piecing detail:

Image/Sentiment: The Cat's Pajamas
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Signo Black Gel Pen
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select, Fine Linen, and Scarlet Jewel, Fancy Pants Designs Patterned Paper

Ruby's Rainbow "Show Us Something New"

Good morning!  We are back from the holiday break with a new challenge for you; this fortnight Helen P. has chosen our challenge and it is "Show Us Something New."  Think new supplies, new technique, etc. Sounds fun!

I went with a new die that I "gifted" myself!  LOL  I layered the die cut over patterned paper to add a bit of interest and accented the snowflakes with Swarovski flatback crystals.  The crystals actually coordinate with the brown lettering, but they photographed darker.  A quick and simple card!  (Next time I will try a different method of adhering the die cut...I used a glue stick.  With all the detail, maybe a Xyron would be easier?  Anyone have any ideas?)

Paper: G.P. 110 CS, Carolees Creations Patterned Paper
Embellies: Swarovski Flatback Crystals in "Smokey Topaz"
Extras: Lil' Inker Designs Die

Good morning and Happy 2016 to you!  Today is "Anything Goes" at Catch the Bug and we hope you will play along!

As I looked through the challenges at Paper Playful, I found a sketch, colors, and I knew I wanted my card to be snow themed.  This cute little sock monkey was perfect!  He's colored with pencils and his eyes are accented with a black gel pen.  I've added glitter to the snow and snowballs, and embellished the card with brads and snowflakes.

Joy in Jesus

Good morning!  We have a new sketch for you at From the Heart Stamps, along with a twist...Use Heat Embossing.  Here's the sketch:

I used one of Faith's cute snowmen and made a Christmas card for my stash.  I've colored the snowman with pencils and accented his hat and pocket with white glitter, along with adding glitter to his body, the stars, and the word "Joy".  Instead of a sentiment panel, I've printed the sentiment on the patterned paper; it's pretty easy to do, just measure carefully!  I put the banner behind the image and embellished with die cut snowflakes and buttons.  (In real life the buttons are a perfect match with the purple paper.  Does anyone know why the color of the buttons is "off" in the photograph?  Ugh...so frustrating!  This happens to me sometimes...not sure why.)

Image/Sentiment: From the Heart Stamps "Joy Snowman" Digital Image
Ink: Printer
Paper: G.P. 110 CS, Gina K. Pure Luxury CS, SU! Purple CS (retired), Bo Bunny Patterned Paper
Embellies: Martha Stewart "Carrara Marble" and "Sugar Cube" Glitters, PTI Buttons/DMC Floss
Extras: Prismas/Crayolas/Goo Gone, The Cats Pajamas CutUps Die (snowflakes), Foam Tape

Winter Scarf Birdbrain

Good morning!  I have a fun card to share today using this week's sketch from FTHS; the twist is to use colored pencils.  (Easy one for me!) Here's the sketch:

I went with "Winter Scarf Birdbrain" and added just a touch of glitter to her eyes after coloring the image.  For embellishing I've used twill, die cut snowflakes, and bling.

Image: From the Heart Stamps "Birdbrain Winter Scarf" Digital Image
Ink: Printer
Paper: G.P. 110, PTI Hawaiian Shores and Royal Velvet, Doodlebug Sugar Coated CS, Bo Bunny Patterned Paper

#letitsnow

Good morning!  I have a card to share using this week's From the Heart Stamps sketch; here it is, along with the inspiration board:

I love the sketch, but had a hard time with my card...hence, the late post.  I had to scrap my first attempt...this was #2...not sure if I am liking this background either, but it is much improved over my first attempt.  The background is actually a total of 10 strips of paper!  It was a lot of fun trying to keep those in order....  LOL  I tried to do this adorable snowman image justice!  The image (January 2015 Stamp of the Month) is colored with pencils and I've added some glitter to the "snow".  I've embellished simply with glittery snowflakes and brads.

Wheeeee!

Good morning!  Today I am playing along with my old teamies from Tuesday Morning Sketches; Doodle Pantry is the sponsor this week, so how could I not play?!

It's a great sketch this week and it paired perfectly with Charlie Sledding.  Something about the non-traditional yellow/blue color combo spoke to me...what a fun twist for a winter card!  I used a pre-colored image, along with a sentiment and patterned paper from the set.  I've embellished simply with brads and a sparkly, layered snowflake.  They sure look like they are having fun sliding down the hill...maybe I should work in some sledding this winter...the kids would love it!

I must confess that Santa did not bring me anything, but I did do a bit of shopping myself....  The Cat's Pajamas had a sale after Thanksgiving and I treated myself to a small order.  The adorable sheep are colored with pencils and I've used patterned paper and bling that have been in my stash for years.  (It sure feels good to use up old goodies!)  The sketch is from Retro Sketches.

Birdbrain Snowman

Good morning; hope you all have had a wonderful holiday season!  It was nice to have a break during the holidays to spend time with family and friends, but I am glad to be back to day with a new sketch from From the Heart Stamps.  Not only do we have a sketch, but also a twist (use textured paper) and an inspiration photo.  So many choices!  Check them out:

I love the sketch; I made a square card because it better suited the image Birdbrain Snowman.  I couldn't resist coloring the snowman a reddish hue because it reminded me a bit of Angry Birds!  LOL  I've colored the image with pencils and accented it with glitter.  For the "texture" component, I've used Bazzill Bling which also has a great pearlescent shimmer.  I've embellished simply with a layered snowflake.

Ink: Printer
Paper: G.P. 110 (image), PTI Stamper's Select (card base), Bazzill Bling, My Mind's Eye Patterned Paper

Winter Fun

Good morning!  We have a new sketch for you at From the Heart Stamps; along with the sketch is an optional twist...interactive cards.  Here is the sketch we are working with this week:

I searched for different types of interactive cards that would go with the sketch and decided to make a shaker card...I thought some "snow" would be perfect with the image.  I printed and colored my image, die cut it...and then realized that I had not left enough margin for a "frame"!  Ack!  On to plan B...I finished the card, minus the fun shaker effect.  I've done a bit of sponging, paper piercing, and added glitter and a snowflake for embellishing.  (I bet you are wondering why I have a winter card today after posting a couple of springy ones....  It was below zero yesterday and we are supposed to get 1-2 inches of snow tomorrow!  Will spring ever come?)

Embellies: Art Glitter in "Angel Dust". Spare Parts Brads, PTI Dark Chocolate Twine

Bundled Up

Good morning!  We have a new challenge for you at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight, Debbie has chosen our challenge and she would like to see "Texture" on you card.

Hmmm, texture?  Had to think on this one....  Dry embossing was the first thing that came to mind; I also added layers, chunky glitter, fine glitter, a button with twine, and some cheesecloth.  Have seen the cheesecloth on cards in blogland and have always wanted to try it; so glad I did, it was fun!

The image is one of Faith's newer ones...I love it and couldn't wait to color it!  I used pencils then added some glitter...it's a bit hard to see the fine glitter in the photo.  I did some layering and added a glitter covered snowflake and some cheesecloth.  I like the combo of the crisp, hard edges paired with the soft coloring and cheesecloth.

Image: From the Heart Stamps "Bundled Up"
Ink: Printer
Paper: G.P. 110, SU! Baja Breeze and Cranberry Crisp, Carta Bella DP
Embellies: Martha Stewart Snow Glitter, Martha Stewart Crystal Fine Glitter, PTI Scarlet Jewel Button/PTI Twine, Cheesecloth
Extras: Prismas/Goo Gone, Cuttlebug Embossing Folder, MFT "Let it Snowflake" Die-namics Die, Foam Tape

I hope you will check out the rest of the DT's creations here; we would love to have you play along so we can see your version of "texture"!
