Sketch Saturday #423

Good morning sketch fans!  Today is the 5th Saturday of the month so that means you can pick any sketch from the Sketch Saturday Archive.  Don't you just love having so many choices?  I know I do!

I went with Sketch #216, and changed the format from square to rectangle.  (I've had this image colored and on standby; this sketch was the perfect opportunity to use it!)  Here's the sketch:

The image is colored with pencils and I've added lots of glitter...my favorite embellishment!  The red panel is embossed; the dots remind me of a blizzard.  The patterned paper is pearlized and so beautiful in real life.  I've added a smattering of sparkly snowflakes embellished with brads/mini brads, along with some tiny foil snowflakes.  (The snowflakes dies are from Lawn Fawn; I love the mini size!)  Here's a close-up:

Sketch Saturday #390

Good morning sketch fans!  We have a fun new sketch for you this week, along with a new sponsor...A Day for Daisies.  Here's the sketch:

I used one of my favorite Christmas images, along with some "favorite" paper scraps.  The image is colored with pencils and matted with die cuts.  I struggled with what to use for an embellishment...so I went without!  Do any of you have any ideas?  I would love to hear them!

Hello Snowman

Good morning!  We have a new challenge for you from the ladies at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight Neva has chosen "Christmas with a Metallic Twist"...sounds pretty!

I've combined this challenge with this week's From the Heart Stamps sketch, which also has a twist..."Use Your Favorite Color".  That would be pink...of course!  Here's the sketch:

So...use the sketch, the color pink, Christmas themed, and metallic....  "Hello Snowman" (isn't this one of the cutest snowmen ever?!) is colored with pencils and mounted on die cuts.  I've rounded some of the corners of the metallic background patterned paper, to add a bit of interest, and embellished with a sparkly snowflake and hearts (they came in the stamp set).  I love the quirky pink and green for a Christmas card!  Check out the adorable "sweater" hearts, here's a close-up:

Please check out the Ruby's Rainbow DT creations here, along with the challenge details.  We would love to see your take on the challenge!

Please check out the FTHS midweek inspiration post here, and the sketch challenge details here.  We hope you will give the sketch a try...it's a fun one!

Hoppy Christmas

Good morning!  I'm back with another challenge for Bugaboo's Christmas in July week; today's challenge is "Anything But a Card" with the added twist of a color challenge.  Check out the color palette below:

Doesn't that color palette rock?  I love it!

One of my favorite things to make is an altered Crystal Light container.  (I have a stash of the old ones that I'm still using.  The new ones are oval; I like that the old ones are round so that I can use Spellbinders die cuts to decorate the lid.)  The image is colored with pencils and accented with glitter.  I've used a couple of papers that have been in my stash a long time...the colors were perfect.  I've added a button/pearl combo for embellishing and filled the container with some iridescent shred.  This will be perfect for a small gift or to jazz up the presentation of a gift card.

Image: Bugaboo "Hoppy Occasions-Christmas" Digital Stamp
Ink: Printer
Paper: G.P. 110, SU! Garden Green, KI Memories Patterned Paper
Embellies: PTI Buttons in Raspberry Fizz, Spare Parts Pearls
Extras: Prismas/Goo Gone, Spellbinders Nestabilities, Foam Tape

I hope you'll play along with our challenge...there are some awesome prizes, including Guest Designer spots!

Good morning!  I have a summery card to share using this week's From the Heart Stamps sketch, along with the twist "Use a Sentiment".  Doesn't this Birdbrain look like she is living the good life?

I've printed the image three times, so I could add a bit of dimension to the tree and coconuts.  I used pencils to add color, then added pink glitter, ribbon and the sentiment for embellishing.

Good morning and Happy Tuesday!  It's time again for another sketch from the ladies at Tuesday Morning Sketches; this week our sketch was created by Debbie and our sponsor is Floppy Latte.

I made a card for the nursing student, Kate, who has worked with me for the past month; she just graduated and had her pinning, she will still need to take her State Boards.  Let me tell you, she is a "Superchick" for sure!  Kate rocks!

The chick is colored with pencils and I added some glitter to her cape, because after all, what "Superchick" doesn't like a touch of glitter?!  I embellished simply with clouds and a beaded sentiment.

Embellies: Doodlebug Glitter, Beads (Hobby Lobby)

JOY

Good morning!  It's time for another challenge at Creative Card Crew; this fortnight we would like to see red and gold.  I don't typically think of snowflakes when I think of red/gold, but I remembered this lovely DP (it has a gorgeous gold shimmer...hard to capture in a photo) in my stash and thought I would give it a try!

I colored the image with pencils and accented with a couple different types of glitter.  In addition to the shimmery DP, I used some SU! gold shimmer CS from my stash (love this stuff!).  I diecut and layered some snowflakes and added some gold brads for embellishing.

Ruby's Rainbow: Neapolitan Chicks

Good morning!  It's time for another challenge from the ladies at Ruby's Rainbow!  For this fortnight, Silvi has chosen Brown and Pink +White/Cream.

I love these colors and immediately thought "neapolitan"...although I explored other ideas, I went with my original and got out my DeNami chicks.  They are colored with pencils, the eyes are dotted with a black gel pen and I used some Crystal Effects on the cherry.  The image is diecut with a Spellbinder's ribbon slide and attached to the card base with twill.  I did add a dimensional for a little extra "oomph".  Clean and simple, but I like how this one turned out.

Hello there!  I usually don't do 3 posts in 1 day, but I needed to upload my card for Jen del Muro's January Sketch For You To Try.  I am just squeaking by!

My image is colored with pencils and accented with glitter.  I mounted it on the Heart Rosette CutUps Die.  So far I havn't actually used it to make a rosette...I like the looks of it used as a doily too.  For embellishing, I used a couple of Bella Dots on the upper vellum panel.

Barry's Snowman

Good morning!  Today the card I have to share was a fun one to make...it combines lots of challenges!  Yesterday I printed the sketch for the challenge at SCS and used that as a starting point.

The image I used is a digital stamp from Stamp Fairy; I think Barry and his little snowman are adorable!  The image is colored with pencils and accented with 2 kinds of glitter; subtle glitter for Barry's hat and glitter with a bit more sparkle for the snow/snowflakes.  I used some Spellbinder's dies for the snowflakes, and then coated the white ones with glitter.  As I was making a mess, I thought of my glitter paper!  Hmmm, why do I usually forget to use it?   LOL  I added a brad to the middle of the snowflakes and elevated them with a dimensional.

Image: Stamp Fairy Digital Stamp
Ink: Printer, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Paper: G.P. 110, PTI Stamper's Select, SU! Basic Gray, KI Memories DP
Embellies: Spare Parts Brads, Martha Stewart Crystal Fine Glitter, Barbara Trombley's Art Glitter in "Angel Dust"

TMS#111

Good Tuesday morning! It's time for another fun challenge over at the Tuesday Morning Sketches blog. Kathleen has drawn our sketch this week and it's a good one!

I decided to go with a Halloween theme and used some of my favorite DP that I have been hoarding. Never mind that I have quite a bit of much newer Halloween DP to choose from...there is just something about this particular paper that speaks to me! I really am going to be sad when I use it all up....

Bella is colored with pencils and I added some glitter to the pumpkin face and her boots. I used an MFT die for the scallops, added some ribbon and a few Bella Dots. This is a fun sketch...I'll have to try it again.

Image: Stamping Bella
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select and True Black, SU! Pumpkin Pie, Wild Wasabi, and Lovely Lilac, KI Memories DP
Embellies: Wright's Black Grosgrain Ribbon, Bella Dots, Doodlebug Glitter (black), Martha Stewart Crystal Fine Glitter
Extras: Prismas/Crayolas/Goo Gone, MFT Die-namics Scallop Border Die, The Paper Studio Sticky Doos

I hope you will head on over to the Tuesday Morning Sketches blog to check out all of the DT's cards. Better yet, play along! This week is a judged challenge and we want to see your creations!

Thanks for stopping by; enjoy your day!

From one chick to another...

Hello! Are you staying cool? The power was out here for about 6 hours yesterday; when it resumed, we found the central air wasn't working. Talk about hot! Fortunately, the high temps finally receded last night, now today we had a bit of rain to cool things off. I hope the worst of it is over.

I was able to play the SCS sketch challenge yesterday; it had been awhile, so I was glad I could play! It was a fun sketch and I went with one of my "go to" images, the Stampendous Calendar Chicks...love those chicks! I also used some paper in my stash that I have been hoarding a bit; I like it so much that I didn't want to cover it up, so I used vellum for one of the panels. I did run the vellum through the Cuttlebug to add a bit of texture. The chick is colored with pencils and her flowers are accented with glitter. I made a felt rose with the MFT Rolled Rose Die-namics die, which I have been using a lot. The roses are so easy to make! Also, it is so much cheaper than buying flowers...I'm all for saving a bit when I can.

Image: Stampendous "Flower Chick"

Paper: PTI Vintage Cream, SU! Regal Rose and Soft Suede, KI Memories DP, The Paper Studio Vellum
Embellie: Martha Stewart Crystal Fine Glitter
Extras: Prismas/Goo Gone, Cuttlebug/Swiss Dots Embossing Folder, MFT Rolled Rose Die, The Cat's Pajamas CutUps Die (leaves), Felt (PTI Simpy Chartreuse/Rose from my stash)

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you are able to stay cool and work a bit of stamping in!

When I saw this adorable image, I thought of this strawberry DP and knew it would be perfect! I love the bright pink and green paired with the crisp white. Don't you love Minnie's fun green glasses? I kept it clean and simple and used a ribbon loop and rubber sticker for embellishment.

Cookie Emma

Hello; happy Wednesday! How is your day going? I've had a nice, relaxing day. I always look forward to Wednesdays because of the SCS sketch challenge. I printed this sketch before I went to bed last night so I could sleep on it. I have to say that this one didn't turn out at all like I planned, but I had fun anyway!

I had planned to layer the image, but then realized she was sitting down. So...I decided to perch her on the center panel. After I glued her down, I realized the card was pretty bland and added some Bella Dots. Do you notice that there is not one by her head? There isn't enough room...it looked like an extra appendage and who wants one of those? LOL My original plan also was to use some ribbon too; I had a new idea I wanted to try, but will have to try it on another card later. So, what do you think? Should I have put a Bella Dot up by her head? What would you do? I learned a lesson...plan ahead! If I would have glued her down just a bit to the right, there would have been room....

Paper: PTI Stamper's Select, Dark Chocolate, and Simply Chartreuse, KI Memories DP

I am hoping to get a bit more time crafting today. Wednesday nights are "Wing Ding" at church, so I probably won't have to cook tonight. It is awesome to have someone do the cooking and clean up for me...what a treat! Plus, the kids are helping to serve this month.

Thanks for stopping by!

SC319: CAS Neopolitan Chicks

Hello! I know a lot of people don't eat as much ice cream when it's cold, but I am always up for ice cream...and cute chicks! Even when it's cold.... I keep wondering when it is going to warm up. It was below zero this morning again! Hope you are keeping warm wherever you are located.

Anyway, back to the card.... Today's sketch challenge on SCS turned out to be CAS for me, which was a surprise. Usually I do multiple layers with the sketches. The trick to this sketch was finding an image to fit the small panel; I knew I could resort to a sentiment, but then I remembered these chicks. They are colored with pencils and their eyes are dotted with a black gel pen. As I was looking through my stash for some paper, I came across this pretty pink pattern and thought it would be perfect; it reminded me of neopolitan ice-cream. The image is cut with a Spellbinder's die. I Cuttlebugged the background panel and added a bit of ribbon. It came together quickly, which is unusual for me.

Paper: PTI Vintage Cream and Dark Chocolate, KI Memories DP
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Embellie: SU! Chocolate Grosgrain Ribbon

Thanks for stopping by today! Stay warm! I'm off to make myself a cup of something hot....
