Superchick

Good morning!  We have a great new sketch for you at Sketch Saturday; here it is:

I pulled out one of my favorite Calendar Chicks and colored her with pencils, then accented her cape with glitter.  The patterned paper has been in my stash for years, but I love the colors.  I've added some felt and glitter accents along with alphabet beads for the sentiment.  I think I will give this one to my daughter.

HB Old Fart

Good morning!  It's time for a new challenge from the ladies at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight, Vickie has chosen our challenge and it is "Masculine Birthday".  It just so happens that today is Humor Me Wednesday at Catch the Bug and the Birthday Bash challenge is to make a humorous birthday card.  These 2 challenges go hand in hand!

I went with Gus, because he always makes me laugh!  The image is colored with pencils and I've added beads for embellishing.  I was tempted to add some glitter, but since it's "masculine" I didn't...it was hard though!

Hot Hot Hot

Good morning!  We have a new challenge for you at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight, Caz has chosen our challenge and it is "On the Beach".  Sounds fun!

I figured I couldn't go wrong with Bugaboo's Margaret!  She's colored with pencils and her (not so) teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini is embellished with glitter, along with her glasses.  The layout is the Deconstructed Sketch and I've used vellum clouds, a sparkly sun, and beads for embellishing.  I only hope I look this "Hot Hot Hot" (or as my 15 year old daughter would say "Hawt") when I hit the local beach!  LOL

Good morning!  It's time for a new challenge from Tuesday Morning Sketches; our sponsor for the week is My Besties; the image I used today was a free one from Facebook.

Here's the sketch:

I've colored the image with pencils and paired it with a soft, pink floral from my stash.  I've matted it in dark gray to accent her eyes and the dots in the paper.  I've embellished simply with ribbon and beads.

Snap Me

Hello!  It's time for our monthly challenge at Flat Friends; this month Em would like you to use a sentiment on your card.  Sounds good, right?!

Hmmm, sentiments....  I rarely use one, so this was fun!  I loved Em's new images for March; do you notice anything different about this cutie?  She has a nose and a mouth!  How fun is that?!  This image made me think of this fun paper that I had in my stash; I used a bunch of the different patterns and went with a collage type card.  (I used a sketch from The Paper Players)I've colored the image, cut it out, and adhered it to a Polaroid-style image, then added a bunch of die cuts, brads, beads, and some fun, sparkly lips (found in my Valentine embellie bin). The sentiment "Snap Me" refers to the Snapchats that my 15 year-old daughter and her friends love to send each other.  I really had fun putting this one together!  I hope you will break out the sentiments and play along with our challenge this month!

This one's for Kate....

Good morning and Happy Tuesday!  It's time again for another sketch from the ladies at Tuesday Morning Sketches; this week our sketch was created by Debbie and our sponsor is Floppy Latte.

I made a card for the nursing student, Kate, who has worked with me for the past month; she just graduated and had her pinning, she will still need to take her State Boards.  Let me tell you, she is a "Superchick" for sure!  Kate rocks!

The chick is colored with pencils and I added some glitter to her cape, because after all, what "Superchick" doesn't like a touch of glitter?!  I embellished simply with clouds and a beaded sentiment.

Happy Fall

Good morning!  I'm back with another fun sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches; Theresa has designed our sketch for this week...I like the corner element, so many possibilities!  Our sponsor this week is Meljen's Designs and they let me pick this yummy Autumn Candy Apple to work with... thank you!  There are a lot of really darling images to work with...check them out!

I love Granny's Smith apples, so I wanted my card to be primarily green...I added a bit of caramel and some red for contrast.  The image is colored with pencils and the panel is popped up.  I was trying to figure out what to put in the upper left corner and then remembered my stash of alphabet beads...perfect!

TMS#130

Good Tuesday morning!  Jessica, from Tuesday Morning Sketches, has drawn us a fun sketch to work with this week.  Our sponsor is Stamp Fairy; Gerda has the cutest digital images!  I was going to get a new image, but the more I looked the more I found that I liked....  I just couldn't make up my mind, so I went with the image I already had....  Barry is really fun to color....

I went the clean and simple route with this card, but I would like to try the sketch again and take it up a notch.  Isn't versatility great?  Barry is colored with Prisma pencils and accented with glitter.  I wanted to let the DP shine, so I used just some simple beads for the sentiment.  Was thinking of adding some snowflakes, but I made myself stop...after all, the snowflakes on the DP are so pretty.

Image: Stamp Fairy Digital Stamp
Paper: G.P. 110, SU! Orchid Opulence and Soft Suede, Crate Paper DP
Embellies: Martha Stewart Crystal Fine Glitter (Barry's hat), Barbara Trombley's Art Glitter in "Angel Dust" (snow), Alphabet Beaads (Hobby Lobby)
Extras: Prismas/Goo Gone, Spellbinders Nestabilities, DMC Floss

I really can't wait to see everyone's take on Jessica's sketch!  I hope you'll check them out too and leave the DT a bit of love for their efforts.  I would also love to see your take on the sketch!

I am also entering this card in the Crafty Cardmakers challenge, which is to use beads.

Thanks for stopping by today; have a great week!

Noah's Baptism Card

Hello! Today I have a card I made for a co-worker; this is for her great nephew's baptism. Her only request was that it have his name on the card. Well, that was pretty simple...I like it that way!

The layout is from a card I previously made using this Verve set, but that card was for a little gal and was made with pink and white. I didn't have a great match for the blue in the DP, so I decided to use dark gray (it looks more black-ish in the photos) to mat the panels. I tell you, I fiddled around with buttons and assorted ribbons, but decided to leave this one a bit more plain. The more I look at it, the more it grows on me; I do like that you can read a lot of the words in the DP, which I love. I am just hoping my co-worker likes it too!

Image: Verve "Practically Perfect"
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select and Smokey Shadow, Pebbles DP
Embellies: Alphabet Beads (Hobby Lobby)
Extras: Prismas/Goo Gone, Spellbinder's Nestabilities, The Paper Company Sticky Doos

Tips and Tricks:
I wanted the words in the DP to match up, but didn't want to waste paper. I put the dies onto my DP and measured to make sure they were just right, then held them in place with a bit of painter's tape before running the paper through the Cuttlebug. I had to be careful and get it precise because the narrow scalloped border left no wiggle room. One other thing to mention if you try this trick is to only run the paper through as far the die (then roll backwards), otherwise the paper can wrinkle.... Then you have to press it out with a bone folder.... Don't ask me how I know...I just do!

Thanks for stopping by today!
