Friends

Good morning!  It's New Release Tuesday at Bugaboo; I have a card to share using a fun, new image.  The sentiment is colored with pencils and I've added a touch of glitter for some sparkle.  I went the clean and simple route and paired it with some text paper and added a few layers.  I think this would be perfect for my 15 year old daughter to give to a friend.

Life Happens Over Coffee

Good morning; I'm back with a new challenge from Tuesday Morning Sketches!  This week Jessi has chosen her favorite sketch from last year and she is also our sponsor; it's also a judged challenge, so there is the additional twist of "Tone on Tone/Monochromatic".  Guess what you'll be playing for?  Jessi's amazing crocheted mats...in Valentine colors!  I am guessing you will want to play along (wink)!

I've made a shabby chic style card today...I thought it would go perfectly with the crocheted mat; I've done some distressing and paper piecing, then embellished with a flower and some mini brads.  Sometimes it's fun to go grubby!

Ink: Palette Burnt Umber
Paper: SU! Blushing Bride, PTI Dark Chocolate, My Mind's Eye DP

Hello there, Peep!

Good morning!  Since today is Friday, that means it's Bellariffic Friday...I used to play along about every week, but got out of the habit....  I decided it was time to play again...this week is a sketch challenge and I do love those!  I had planned to use Stella, but I saw this adorable Peep and went with her instead.

The Peep is colored with pencils and her eyes are dotted with a black gel pen...isn't her vintage style adorable?  The phone is paper pieced and I've added some black glitter to "glam" it up.  The papers are distressed and I've added a resin flower and Swarovskis flatbacks for embellishing.  (I'm not so sure I like my embellishing, but it was almost 2 a.m. and I was getting tired....)

Image: Stamping Bella
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Paper: Cryogen White, SU! Blushing Bride, PTI True Black, Prima DP
Embellies: Prima Resin Flower, Swarovski Flatback Crystals in "Jet", Doodlebug Glitter

Butterfly Birthday

Good morning!  It's Tuesday, so that means we have a new sketch for you over at Tuesday Morning Sketches.  For this challenge, our sponsor is DRS Designs and they let me choose this lovely birthday sentiment..."thank you" to DRS Designs!

This card is all about the butterflies...sentiment (love it, plus it's a great font), paper, and embellishments.  I've done some distressing and put my Spellbinder's dies to good use.  The butterflies are Martha Stewart punches and I've coated them with a subtle glitter and added some Swarovski flatbacks for a little something extra.

Sentiment: DRS Designs
Ink: Palette Burnt Umber
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select, Aqua Mist, and Dark Chocolate, Prima DP
Embellies: Martha Stewart Crystal Fine Glitter, Swarovski Flatback Crystals in "Smokey Topaz"

Things with Wings

Good morning!  It's time for a new challenge at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight, Angelique has chosen our challenge and it is "Things with Wings".

I was tempted to go with a chick, but went with a butterfly instead.  The sketch is from Sparkle and Sprinkle.  The butterfly is paper pieced and I've done a bit if distressing and added pearls for embellishing.

Image: Verve
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: PTI Aqua Mist and Dark Chocolate, Prima "Madeline" DP
Embellies: Spare Parts Pearls
Extras: Spellbinder's Nestabilities, The Paper Studio Sticky Doos

I hope you will check out the rest of the DT's "winged" creations and maybe play along too!

Vintage Valentine

Good morning (again); I'm back with our latest sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches.  This one is simple, but fun.  I used the DP that I couldn't resist...I found a wonderful pad at the Hobby Lobby (on sale) and had to have it!  Even though I am trying to use what I have...  Anyone else do that?

The image is colored with pencils and her heart is accented with glitter.  I've distressed the papers, added some brads, a snippet of ribbon, and a flower.  Easy peasy!

Image: SU! Greeting Card Kids
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select and True Black, SU! Melon Mambo, The Paper Studio DP
Embellies: SU! Black Grosgrain Ribbon, Spare Parts Brads, Prima Flower, Art Glitter in "Angel Dust"

Release Day

Good morning!  Today's the day for Clear Dollar Stamps June release.  I have a couple of cards to share using 2 different digital sets...so let's get to it!

My first card features the set "Hanging Out", which is illustrated by Lisa Lara.  I loved this set the minute I saw it!  It has an assortment of clothing and fun sentiments; it includes line art as well as a colored version.  I decided to go with a shabby-chic look for this card; I chose an assortment of DP from the Simple Stories "Fabulous" collection...I actually used 7 different DPs!  The tank top is paper pieced and I inked the edges of my papers; for embellishing I used crochet lace, ribbon, and an assortment of goodies.

Image: Clear Dollar Stamps "Hanging Out" Digital Set
Ink: Printer, Palette Burnt Umber
Paper: PTI Fine Linen, Simple Stories "Fabulous" DP
Embellies: Crochet Lace (my stash), PTI Dark Chocolate Twill, PTI Buttons, DMC Floss, Prima Flower, Safety Pin (my stash), and Swarovski Flatback Crystals in "Smokey Topaz"
Extras: Spellbinder's Nestabilities Die, The Paper Studio Sticky Doos

My second card features the set "What a Melon", also illustrated by Lisa Lara.  It includes a variety of melons and sentiments as well, and is perfect for summer!  I went for a more CAS look with this one.  I printed, colored, cut the watermelon out, and then added a bit of glitter to the seeds.  The image panel is popped up and also dry embossed, like the green panel, for a bit of texture.  I like the clean lines of this one.

Here's a close-up showing the glitter and embossed texture.

Ink: Printer, SU! Black Marker
Paper: SU! Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi, and Basic Black

Creative Card Crew: Mother

Good morning!  It's time for another challenge from the girls at Creative Card Crew; this fortnight the challenge is to use a sentiment as the main image.  This was indeed a challenge for me since I don't often use sentiments!  Our sponsor for this challenge is Simon Says Stamp.

I've been seeing a lot of challenges for Mother's Day, so I went with that theme; after all, it will be here before we know it.  The sketch from The Craft's Meow looked like fun, so I went hunting for some subtle DP to use.  I decided on this lovely paper from my stamping buddy Jessica...I love the vintage flair!  I stamped the sentiment on vellum so the paper could peek through, added a die cut border, a felt rolled rose and some Swarovski flatback crystals.  My original plan was to use a butterfly as the embellishment, but all of mine seemed either too big or too small.  What do you think of the rose?

Sentiment: The Craft's Meow
Paper: PTI Aqua Mist and Dark Chocolate, Prima DP, The Paper Studio Vellum
Ink: Palette Burnt Umber
Embellies: Swarovski Flatback Crystals in "Light Colorado Topaz"
Extras: MFT Rolled Rose Die-namics Die/PTI Dark Chocolate Felt, The Cat's Pajamas CutUps Die (leaf)/Green Felt, PTI Border Die

Please head on over to the Creative Card Crew blog to get a bit of inspiration; we'd love to see your take on the challenge too...remember there's a prize up for grabs!

I am also entering this card in the following challenges:

Addicted to Stamps Challenge: Mother's Day
Dream Valley Challenges: For a Special Lady
Paper Sundaes: Mother's Day
Sentimental Sundays: For a Special Woman

Ruby's Rainbow: Lace

Good morning!  It's time for another fun challenge at Ruby's Rainbow; the theme for this fortnight is lace.  Real lace, lace diecuts, etc...you choose!

March was my month to pick an image for our monthly challenge on SCS.  Since the wedding season is right around the corner, I went with this fun Changito image.  I love the look of sheer delight on her face!  The image is colored with pencils and accented with glitter.  I distressed the edges of the DP, and added crochet lace, Prima flowers, and a ribbon tab.

Image: Stampendous
Paper: PTI Vintage Cream and Dark Chocolate, SU! Regal Rose, Pebbles DP
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Embellies: Wright's Crochet Lace, Prima Flowers, SU! Brown Grosgrain Ribbon, Barbara Trombley's Art Glitter in "Angel Dust"

I hope you will check out the rest of the DT's lacey creations.  You have 2 weeks to play along, so I would love to see what you come up with using lace....

TMS#96

Good Tuesday morning! I hope you enjoyed your Memorial Day holiday and were able to spend some time with your loved ones. My Dad is a veteran, so he was in a parade...he has been every year for as long as I can remember. I always get tears in my eyes as he marches by.... Thanks to all veterans who have served; and thanks to those who serve their country now.

As you know, Tuesdays mean another sketch from Melissa at Tuesday Morning Sketches. I tell you...her sketches have stumped me lately! I decided to go with a clean and simple approach this week. I used some DP from the girls' paperie (one of my new favorite companies...love the vintage flair), some sponging, and simple embellishing. The sentiment is stamped on vellum, then adhered to the paper. I got out the supplies to make my own flower embellie, but then remembered these Prima roses in my stash...I thought the size was perfect.

Sentiment: Stampabilities
Ink: Palette Burnt Umber
Paper: PTI Fine Linen, the girls' paperie DP, The Paper Studio Vellum
Embellies: PTI Dark Chocolate Twill, Prima Rose, Swarovski Flatback Crystals in "Smoked Topaz"

Tips and Tricks:
Often you can see the adhesive when using vellum, so I like to use small embellishments in the corners of my project to cover it. I simply place a tiny dot of adhesive between the paper and vellum, then add another tiny dot to the top and cover it with my embellie.

I can't wait to see what the rest of the DT has done with this tricky sketch! I hope you will visit the Tuesday Morning Sketches blog to check them out too!

Thanks for stopping by today!

When I saw this adorable image, I thought of this strawberry DP and knew it would be perfect! I love the bright pink and green paired with the crisp white. Don't you love Minnie's fun green glasses? I kept it clean and simple and used a ribbon loop and rubber sticker for embellishment.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #62

Good morning! It's time for another sketch from Melissa over at the Tuesday Morning Sketches blog. Our sponsor this week is Meljen's. I don't know if you know it or not, but I am a big fan of monkeys! I was super excited to get this cute image!

This week the sketch has a bit of a twist...there's a window cut into the card front and the image is on the inside. I had a hard time photographing the card so I used some painter's tape to tape it shut while I photographed it. I used Spellbinder's Nestabilities to cut the window; next I used a scalloped die, and then a circular die inside of it to cut the border. The inside of the card has a border as well; I thought it looked more "finished" that way.

The image is colored with pencils and the card is embellished simply with Prima flowers. I didn't want to cover up the words on the pretty DP.

Image: Meljen's Digital Stamp
Paper: G.P. 110, PTI Dark Chocolate, SU! Blushing Bride, Pebbles DP
Embellies: Prima Flowers
Extras: Prismas/Crayolas/Goo Gone, Spellbinder's Nestabilities

I hope you will head over to the Tuesday Morning Sketches blog to check out the DT's creations. Anita, from Cards and Coffee, is our Guest Designer this month. I hope you will be able to play along!

Thanks for stopping by today; have a good one!
