To One of My Favorite Peeps

Good morning!  I was lucky enough to be asked to Guest Design for Sweet Stampin' this month!  How cool is that?  Today is my first post; the theme for this week is Easter.

It's no secret that I am a fan of chicks, so as I was looking through my stash of  Flat Friends images "Chicks" was an easy pick!  The chicks are colored with pencils; I've gone with a simple layout to keep the focus on them.  I've embellished simply with a sentiment banner and some Swarovski flatback crystals.  I love the colors in this patterned paper...they're so soft and pretty; I happened to find some coordinating glitter CS in my stash too, I love it when that happens!

Celebrate

Good morning!  We have a new challenge for you at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight Jennifer has chosen our challenge and she would like to see something "Birthday" related.  Great challenge, it is always good to have some extra birthday cards for the stash!

I went with one of my old favorites...a Stampendous Calendar Chick!  She is colored with pencils and I've paired her with some springy looking papers and buttons for embellishing.  (I'm looking at my card on the computer screen and it looks like the pink paper and button don't match the pink coloring....  The card is sitting right here and it matches great...weird!  Has anyone else ever had this happen?)

Sentiment: MFT
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Embellies: Buttons (my stash)/DMC Floss

Survivor

I'm back again with a new challenge from Tuesday Morning Sketches; our sponsor this week is Saturated Canary.  I love Krista's images!

I have dedicated my TMS October posts to Breast Cancer Awareness, so I pulled out this cutie from my stash to finish the month.  The image is colored with pencils and I have gone the clean and simple route with the sketch, keeping the SCS HYCCT challenge of "Flat is Fabulous" in mind.  I die cut some hexagons for the background and just slightly popped up the image.  I finished with a simple stamped sentiment.  This card can be sent with just a regular stamp; I don't know about you, but that doesn't happen too often!

Image: Saturated Canary
Sentiment: MFT "Have Hope" Set
Ink: Printer, PTI Smokey Shadow
Paper: G.P. 110, SU! Pink Pirouette, PTI Smokey Shadow, the girls' paperie DP

I'm Just a Phone Call Away....

Good morning!  I'm here with a new challenge from the ladies at Creative Card Crew...we would like to see some bling!

As I was contemplating what to make, I decided to go a bit understated instead of full blown bling.  I used glittery CS and just a touch of bling.  I used my all-time favorite...Swarovski flatbacks...they are so sparkly and gorgeous in real life!  I used a stamp/die set from MFT that I had in my stash and paired it with some vintage style paper.

Sentiment: MFT "Ring Me"
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select, The Paper Studio Black Glitter CS, Cosmo Cricket "UPcycle"
Embellies: Swarovski Flatback Crystals
Extras: MFT "Ring Me" Dienamics Dies

I hope you will head on over to the Creative Card Crew to check out what the rest of the ladies have created.  Play along for a chance to win a prize from Scrapping Center!

Good morning; it's time for another sketch from the ladies at Tuesday Morning Sketches!  Melissa has created a versatile sketch this week...you can either go the clean and simple route or add more layers.  I went with a sentiment and layers.  I distressed my papers and added a flourish and crystals for embellisment. The pretty papers are from the Lily Bee "Handmade" collection, received from my stamping friend Heather...they are so pretty and springy!

You're One of a Kind

Good Monday morning!  I wanted to play along with the MFT Sketch Challenge this week and decided to look through the challenge list to see which ones I could combine to make one card.  It makes it more of a challenge that way, right?!  I havn't done much crafting this week, so there were a lot of things I was interested in....  I was trying to combine "teacher's pet", girly but not pink, glitter/bling, flowers, shabby-chic/distressing....  Anyway this is what I came up with.

The image is colored with pencils and her dress is paper pieced.  My original plan was to diecut the row of paper dolls and adhere them.  Easy peasy, right?  Not so much!  The diecut paper dolls are a bit bigger than the stamp....  So I stamped the paper dolls on DP and cut them out.  Oh my, that was interesting!  As I was cutting I wondered what on earth I had gotten myself into....

Check out the size of the paper dolls!  Tiny!  I took a picture just for fun.  Actually this was the rough cut before I went and fine tuned it a bit.  I later realized I should have taken a picture after I cleaned it up.... After adhering the paper dolls, I gave them a nice coating of glitter...so sparkly!

To finish the card, I distressed the DP and added more paper dolls, a felt flower, some pearls and stick pins.  I even decorated the inside of this one, using graph paper to play on the "teacher" theme.

Image/Sentiment: MFT Pure Innocence "Paper Dolls"
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select and Dark Chocolate, SU! Ruby Red, My Mind's Eye "Stella Rose", Graff Paper
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, SU! Black Marker, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Embellies: Kaiser Pearls, Martha Stewart Crystal Fine Glitter, Maya Road Stick Pins
Extras: Prismas/Crayolas/Goo Gone, MFT Die-namics (Royal Rose, Sweet Stack Labels, Paper Dolls), Felt (my stash), Dimensionals
