Hey Hot Stuff!

Good morning!  I've got a fun card to share today; I used a card kit sent to me by my Secret Sister and a stamp that has been sitting on my table just waiting to get inky!  This little piggy is one of my favorite Penny Black images...she has the right combo of cute and sassy!

I used the sketch from the Stamptacular Sunday Challenge...as soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to give it a try!  I like that I was able to use 3 of the DPs from the kit.  The piggy is water colored with inks...it's been awhile...I'm a bit rusty....  I've embellished with brads and a diecut flower.

Image: Penny Black
Sentiment: Kraftin' Kimmie "Summer Sentiments"
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, SU! Blushing Bride and Regal Rose, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select, SU! Melon Mambo, Pear Pizzazz, and Summer Sun
Embellies: Spare Parts Brads, Stickles
Extras: Prismas/Goo Gone. MFT "Hibiscus" Die-namics Die, The Paper Studio Sitcky Doos

I am entering my card in the following challenges:

Tuesday Throwdown: Hot Colors
Clear It Out Challenge: Use something yellow from old supplies (I've had the brads for years!)
Incy Wincy Designs: Summertime
Loves Rubber Stamps Challenge: Sweet Summer Days
Make It Monday: Anything Goes
Truly Madly Crafty Challenges: Animals

I want to give you a peek at the kit.  Such a wonderful assortment of goodies!  I need to dig in to those embellies...for right now I am just admiring them...I need to come up with something extra special so I can use them!  Thank you so much, Secret Sis!

Thanks for stopping by!

MFTWSC27

Good morning! I have a card using MFT's Wednesday Sketch Challenge to share. I had about 3 different plans going until I finally got started...then I had to flip the image panel to make it work. Now, if I would have thought of that right away, I could have stuck with plan 1! LOL

I stamped and colored the image on Kraft CS; I found that it is a bit harder to blend, but it works. Her dress is paper pieced and her crown is coated with Distress Stickles. I sponged the edges of the DP and embellished with a felt flower, leafy vine and some Swarovskis.

Paper: PTI Kraft and True Black, Fancy Pants Designs DP
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, SU! Crumb Cake, SU! Black Marker, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Embellies: Swarovski Flatback Crystals in "Jet", Distress Stickles in "Antique Linen"
Extras: Prismas/Goo Gone, MFT Die-namics (rolled flower/leafy flourish), Spellbinder's Nestabilities, PTI Felt in "Terracotta Tile

Thanks for stopping by today; I hope you are enjoying your weekend!

The Cat's Pajamas Tuesday #160

Good morning! I decided to play along with The Cat's Pajamas challenge this week; once I saw the sketch, I knew I had to make time! I used to play a lot, but just got out of the habit.... So many challenges...so little time! Leigh was the hostess this week and she designs fabulous sketches; you can check out her post here.

I make very few "man cards" so this was a challenge for me. I was about ready to throw in the towel and told myself to "just finish it already"! LOL I think the problem is, I don't really work with these colors a lot, so they were a bit out of my comfort zone. As you see...no pink!

The DP is from Bella BLVD and I bought it because the back of one of the sheets has the coolest crossword puzzle. I can't wait to use that for something! Meanwhile, I went for the colors.... The whale is paper pieced and I used a die for the waves. It's finished off with some Baker's Twine, a button, and a glittery star (more about that later).

Image: The Cat's Pajamas
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, SU! Black Marker, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Paper: SU! Basic Gray and Cherry Cobbler, PTI Enchanted Evening, G.P. 110, Bella BLVD DP
Embellies: PTI Pure Poppy Baker's Twine, PTI Hawaiian Shores Button, Distress Stickles in Brushed Pewter
Extras: Prisma/Goo Gone, Spellbinder's Nestabilitie Die, The Cat's Pajamas CutUp Wave Die, EK Success Star Punch

Here's a close-up of the star. I applied a thick coating of Stickles, let it dry, then added more where it seemed sparse (the glitter glue "shrinks down" a bit when it's dry), then let it dry again. Let me tell you...it took forever to dry! I about cried when the kitty jumped up on my work space to look out the window; I ran over to the table and breathed a sigh of relief when I saw it sitting there unharmed. I could just see it sticking to her long white fur and me chasing her through the house to retrieve it! Not fun! LOL

All right, that's it for me today! I hope you have a great Memorial Day weekend...enjoy and be safe!

Pure Innocence Birthday Card and Box

Hello! Hope your weekend is going well! I was unexpectedly put on call today; I'm crossing my fingers that the phone doesn't ring.... We are having a winter festival in our town today, so there are lots of fun things to do. Later today they are having the "Polar Bear Dip" where you can watch the brave take a dip in the lake for charity. It's fun event; sometimes the groups of dippers have a theme. One year some were dressed up like characters from the Wizard of Oz.
I thought I should put my time to good use and finish up a card my Mother asked me to make for her friend's birthday. It's a lot like the one I made for her birthday; I just changed up the layout and DP. I really like the Pure Innocence images; they are just so sweet...and fun to paper piece too!
Image: MFT Pure Innocence "Birthday Princess"
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: PTI Vintage Cream and Dark Chocolate, My Mind's Eye DP
Embellies: Cream Organza Ribbon, PTI Dark Chocolate Twill, PTI Buttons, DMC Floss, Ranger Distress Stickles in "Antique Linen"
Extras: Prismas/Crayolas/Goo Gone, Spellbinder's Nestabilities, Scor-Pal, QuicKutz Blossom Alphabet, EK Success 3D Dots
I made a quick box to present the card it, using my Scor-Pal. The inside is lined with some Warm and Natural batting to cushion the card. This one is going all the way to Washington DC.
Thanks for stopping by today; enjoy the remainder of your weekend!

Tuesday Morning Sketches #67

Good morning! Melissa has another sketch for us over at the Tuesday Morning Sketches blog. Our sponsor this week is Tiffany's Doodles; you can check out the online store here.

I thought the sketch this week was a fun one; I chose to flip it. I colored my image with pencils and paper pieced her dress. Since I had used a lot of scallops, I embellished the card simply with 2 buttons stacked upon each other and tied with twine. The crown is embellished with Distress Stickles for a subtle sparkle.

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select, Fine Linen and Dark Chocolate, K & Company DP
Embellies: PTI Buttons, PTI Button Twine, Ranger Distress Stickles in "Antique Linen"
Extras: Prismas/Crayolas/Goo Gone, Spellbinder's Nestabilities

I hope you will check out the rest of the DT's creations and play along with us this week. I would love to see what YOU come up with!

Thanks for stopping by; have a good one!

Pure Innocence Birthday Card and Gift Box

Hello! Did you enjoy your weekend? This is our last "free" weekend; school starts tomorrow for DD and Tuesday for DS. Where did the summer go? We had a busy, fun-packed day which included celebrating my Mom's 65th birthday. This is the card and gift box I made for her. The box is 1" deep and is lined with warm and natural batting. I really like making these little boxes; they are simple and it's fun to personalize them too. My Mom had seen one I made not too long ago and made a big fuss over it, so I knew I needed to make one for her.

Here's a closer shot of the card. (The quality of the pictures isn't very good; they were taken in the breezeway and the lighting wasn't the best.) I used Jen del Muro's SFYTT and a Pure Innocence image that I hadn't had the chance to ink up yet. The little gal is colored with Prismas and I paper pieced her dress. I really had fun with the crown; it is cut out and has 2 coats of the "Antique Linen" Distress Stickles. It has a great textured finish. I embellished the card simply with buttons and a fun "garment pin" from Making Memories Vintage Findings. I am liking the quirky combo of the rose and orange....

Here's a close-up to show the crown and fun pin. I was going for a shabby-chic look here, but I still can't seem to master it.... Even though I am pleased with this card, it is frustrating!

Thanks for stopping by today; enjoy the coming week!

Tuesday Morning Sketches Birthday: Week 4

Good morning! It's time for another challenge from Tuesday Morning Sketches! This is the last week of our birthday celebration, so I hope you will play along with us...as always, there are prizes!

This week our sponsor is DRS Designs and our theme is "Christmas in July". As soon as I saw this adorable face, I knew this image was the one for me! As I was looking through my DP, I found this fun paper from Daisy D's. I thought it might be fun to make a card a bit different than my normal style. I love the distressed look of the paper and thought it would be fun to combine with Kraft.

I used sketch TMS #43. The image is colored with pencils and I used some Distress Stickles on the jingle bells, along with a black gel pen on the eyes. The card is embellished simply with some buttons and twine.

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black

Embellies: Distress Stickles in "Antique Linen", PTI Red Buttons, White Button (my stash)

I hope you will go on over to the Tuesday Morning Sketches blog and check out the rest of the DT's cards. Don't forget to play along!
