Ruby's Rainbow: Neapolitan Chicks

Good morning!  It's time for another challenge from the ladies at Ruby's Rainbow!  For this fortnight, Silvi has chosen Brown and Pink +White/Cream.

I love these colors and immediately thought "neapolitan"...although I explored other ideas, I went with my original and got out my DeNami chicks.  They are colored with pencils, the eyes are dotted with a black gel pen and I used some Crystal Effects on the cherry.  The image is diecut with a Spellbinder's ribbon slide and attached to the card base with twill.  I did add a dimensional for a little extra "oomph".  Clean and simple, but I like how this one turned out.

Image: DeNami
Paper: PTI Vintage Cream and Dark Chocolate, KI Memories DP
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Embellie: PTI Dark Chocolate Twill

Tuesday Morning Sketches: Norma Jean

Good morning!  (Again, for Creative Card Crew post, please scroll...thank you.)  It's time for another sketch from the ladies at Tuesday Morning Sketches.  Our sponsor this week is Sassy Studio Designs.

I was really excited to work with this SSD image, which was given to me...I have always been intrigued by Marilyn Monroe.  I even did a research paper on her in high school!  I wanted to keep the focus on the beautifully drawn image, which is colored with Copics and pencils, so instead of adding panels to the two corners, I paper pierced some holes and added crystals for further definition.  This card is a big one...5x7 inches.

Image: Sassy Studio Designs Digital Image
Paper: Gina K. Pure Luxury CS, PTI Hibiscus Burst and True Black, Theresa Collins DP
Embellies: Swarovski Flatback Crystals
Extras: Copic Markers, Prismas/Goo Gone, Spellbinder's Nestabilities, Crafter's Workshop Circular Template, Dimensionals

Creative Card Crew: Ribbon Challenge

Good morning!  It's time for another fun challenge from Creative Card Crew; this fortnight our sponsor is The Paper Shelter and the challenge is to use ribbon on your card. Sounds fun, right?!

The Paper Shelter gave me this adorable image to use...it's pre-colored!  I had the option of coloring myself, but the colors/coloring was amazing!  I simply printed the image, distressed the edges, matted it and adhered it to my card.  I added brads to three corners and a "ribbon blossom" to the other.

Have you ever made a "ribbon blossom"?  I never had, but I remembered seeing them in the past and thought it would be something fun to try other than just using a standard ribbon treatment.  I Googled and did a bit of research before trying mine.  I have to tell you, at first it appeared I had a "ribbon sneeze"!  Remember the dreaded "sticker sneeze" people used to refer to?  I had so many ribbons that I lost track of what I was trying to do!  LOL  I remembered that I would need to trim the ribbons and after the second "haircut", I thought it was presentable.  I was thankful for my old cosmetology skills!  This was fun to make and I will probably try one again.

Here's a close-up.  I used 2 pieces of 14 varied ribbons.  All kinds: grosgrain, seam binding, organdy, satin, etc.

Image: Paper Shelter Digital Stamp
Paper: G.P. 110, PTI Fine Linen and Dark Chocolate
Embellies: Spare Parts Brads, Assorted Ribbons (my stash)
Extras: Making Memories Distressing Tool, Glue Dots

I am entering my card in the following challenges:

2 Sisters Challenge Blog: Digital Image
Bunny Zoe's Crafts: Ribbon or Twine
Sweet Stampin': Use more than 1 ribbon (14)

I hope you will head on over to the Creative Card Crew blog and check out the rest of the DT's creations.  Better yet, I would love to see your creative take on ribbon!

Good morning!  I have a "no stamping" card to share with you today.  The SCS sketch challenge looked fun yesterday, so I thought I would play along.  This simple card took me all day to complete...between meetings at work, transporting kids, groceries, and church...I worked on it small intervals of time.  I am not sure I am happy with it though; I think my mojo has taken a hike!  LOL  I do have some ideas for revisions though, so I may try that.

Paper: SU! Real Read, PTI True Black, The Paper Studio DP
Embellies: Spare Parts Brads
Extras: MFT Die-namics Royal Rose Die, PTI Pure Poppy Felt, The Cat's Pajamas Felt (green leaves), The Crafter's Workshop Template

Just a note about the felt flower....I had some pre-made red flowers that were too big.  Then I made a flower with my die and it was too small; I simply die cut more felt and continued to roll it around the "too small" flower.  Voila'!  Problem solved!

Hope you have a great Thursday; thanks for stopping by!

TMS#142

Good morning; it's time for another sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches!  Our sponsor this week is Raisin Boat; they sent me the cutest stamp set called "Cool Treats".  Actually it was the perfect choice for me since I am an ice cream lover...thank you so much Raisin Boat!

I chose the ice cream cone to work with and colored the image with pencils.  Doesn't that strawberry frozen yogurt look yummy?  I used diecuts for the panels and added some half pearls and ribbon for embellishments.

Paper: PTI Stamper's Select, Fine Linen and Hibiscus Burst, Bo Bunny DP
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Embellies: PTI Hibiscus Burst Grosgrain Ribbon, Kaiser Pearls

You're One of a Kind

Good Monday morning!  I wanted to play along with the MFT Sketch Challenge this week and decided to look through the challenge list to see which ones I could combine to make one card.  It makes it more of a challenge that way, right?!  I havn't done much crafting this week, so there were a lot of things I was interested in....  I was trying to combine "teacher's pet", girly but not pink, glitter/bling, flowers, shabby-chic/distressing....  Anyway this is what I came up with.

The image is colored with pencils and her dress is paper pieced.  My original plan was to diecut the row of paper dolls and adhere them.  Easy peasy, right?  Not so much!  The diecut paper dolls are a bit bigger than the stamp....  So I stamped the paper dolls on DP and cut them out.  Oh my, that was interesting!  As I was cutting I wondered what on earth I had gotten myself into....

Check out the size of the paper dolls!  Tiny!  I took a picture just for fun.  Actually this was the rough cut before I went and fine tuned it a bit.  I later realized I should have taken a picture after I cleaned it up.... After adhering the paper dolls, I gave them a nice coating of glitter...so sparkly!

To finish the card, I distressed the DP and added more paper dolls, a felt flower, some pearls and stick pins.  I even decorated the inside of this one, using graph paper to play on the "teacher" theme.

Image/Sentiment: MFT Pure Innocence "Paper Dolls"

Tuesday Morning Sketches #141

Good morning (again!)...since it's Tuesday, we have another fun sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches.  In addition to the sketch, we have the added twist of "Spring".

I was going through stamps trying to get some inspiration...I seemed to have lost my mojo this weekend...I saw this cute penguin from The Cat's Pajamas and decided she looked nice and springy.  Next I went through my DP...multiple times...I just couldn't make a plan!  Does that ever happen to you?  I decided on this pretty paper from Simple Stories; it's a bit shabby, so I thought I could distress it a bit and pair it with crisp diecuts...I like the contrast.

The penguin is stamped once on DP and again on white.  I colored the penguin, cut it out and adhered it to the DP. I added felt grass, clouds, and glitter to the kite tail.  I embellished the card simply with ribbon and a button flower, using a scrap of felt for the leaf.

Stamp: The Cat's Pajamas
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select and Dark Chocolate, SU! Regal Rose, Simple Stories DP
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, SU! Black Marker
Embellies: Barbara Trombley's Art Glitter in "Pink Smoothie", PTI Buttons, Twine, SU! Chocolate Twill

Creative Card Crew: Kraft

Good morning!  It's time for another challenge from the Creative Card Crew; our sponsor for this fortnight is Simon Says Stamp and the challenge is to use Kraft.

I don't know about you, but I have been enjoying the spring flowers I've been seeing around town so I decided to combine flowers, my favorite color (pink!) and Kraft.  My card is pretty clean and simple, but it did take quit a while to thread all those buttons!  How about you?  Do you like your buttons threaded or unthreaded?  Just curious!  For the sentiment, "friend" is stamped with Versamark and "one-of-a-kind" is stamped on top with Raspberry Fizz.

Stamps/Sentiment: PTI
Paper: PTI Kraft, Dark Chocolate, and Raspberry Fizz
Ink: Palette Burnt Umber, PTI Raspberry Fizz
Embellies: PTI Buttons
Extras: DMC Floss, Dimensionals

I am also entering this card in the following challenges:

You "GoGo" Girl!

Good morning!  I have a fun card to share with you today....  Yesterday I was blurfing and my friend Kathleen had the most amazing card that I just had to CASE it.  (Check it out HERE)I loved both her image and layout, so I used those as a starting point and put my own twist on it.

I remembered this fun DP that I've had in my stash for a looong time...I thought the retro vibe was perfect for this image and couldn't wait to paper piece her dress!  As I was cutting it out, I really questioned my choice...the pieces are tiny!  The image is colored with pencils and I added some subtle glitter to her headband, belt, and boots.  I used some dies from The Cat's Pajamas for the border and the sentiment.  I added some (actually LOTS!) of Swarovski flatback crystals to "bling it up" a bit.

Changito Rain

Good morning!  I was going through the list of challenges and picked a few to combine with this card.  As I was looking for an "uninked" stamp, I came across this cute Changito image.  I've had him for quite some time...can't believe he sat there unused!  Then I remembered this paper that I bought for a swap; I thought the stripes and raindrops would be perfect....  I added a few brads for "metal" and was on my way....

Changito is colored with pencils and accented with a black gel pen and a touch of glitter.  I used my corner rounder to add a bit of interest to the panels...I really need to remember to do this more often.  I finished the card with some white brads.  Only after I'd finished did I realize that I put the rain drop panel on upside down!  Ack!  A little "card surgery" and all is well!  LOL

Stamp: Stampendous
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Sakura Black Gel Pen
Paper: Gina K. Pure Luxury CS, SU! Crushed Curry, Piggy Tales DP

Good morning!  Since it's Tuesday, I have another sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches to share with you.  I decided to make another baby card, using the baby boy version of the DP I used last week.

The image is colored with pencils and his jammies are paper pieced.  I used vellum and tiny brads for the corner panels so the DP could "peek" through.  I finished the card off with a sentiment attached with brads.

I hope you will hop on over to the TMS blog to check out the rest of the DT's creations.  It's a fun sketch...play along!
