Pure Innocence Valentine

Hello and happy Friday! MFT had another fun sketch this week, so I thought I'd give it a try! I really love sketches because they give you such a great starting point, but I am one who trys to stick with the dimensions of the sketch and that can be really hard...sometimes I drive myself crazy! So how about you? Do you try to stick to the sketch, or do you just take the basic idea and run with it?

The little gal's dressed is paper pieced and I have accented the heart in her hair, the red candy hearts and the bow on the box with glitter. I had to crop the top of the box to make this image work, otherwise it would have been too big. I just adhered the piece after I matted the image. I used some Bella Dots and ribbon for embellishing. I really love the DP; it's from last year...Basic Grey Sugar Rush collection.

Extras: Prismas/Crayolas/Goo Gone, Spellbinder's Nestabilities, EK Success 3D Dots

I have another question for you.... I was reading a thread on SCS and the poster was considering decreasing her CS colors to around 15. I don't know about you, but I like to have options...lots of options! When picking CS for this card, I think I had about 6 options on the table. So how about you? Do you think you could cut your CS stash to the bare minimum?

Thanks for stopping by today; enjoy your day!

  2. This is so cute, love the little box hanging off the edge. Beautiful papers, too. I do love these sweet little PI images! No way to decreasing CS colors. I have so many colors, yet still I'm sometimes struggling to get a good match with my dsp. I like options, too.

  4. No, I could not cut my cardstock to a minimum 15. No way!! I love your card. These little pure innocense are my favorite little girls after Maggies. You always do a beautiful job of paper piecing. This is a beautiful card.

  5. So a sweet card! Love these little girls. I like what you did with the lid of the box. Great idea!

About the cardstock, no way I could limit myself to 15 colours. I really like it when my cardstock matches my pencils, and my dp (if I use it LOL), so I always need more..... ;)

  6. great valentine! all your details add up to a wow card.

about cs .. while I am like you and like to have options .. the truth is that I probably just use a few colors. The problem is that I am a hoarder and won't use what I have. For example, I bought a package of Soft Sky paper before they stopped selling it (when it was a special color) and now I won't use it ... becuase what if I used it all up!!?? Silly thinking and I am trying to change that. I have 2 bins of cardstock that just sits there ..... maybe the SCS poster is on to something.
