Mmmm...Cupcakes!

Good morning!  This Saturday we have a color challenge for you at Bugaboo.  I always tend to shy away from a color challenge, but I thought of cupcakes when I saw these colors.  I couldn't resist this darling tray of cupcakes!

The image is colored with pencils and it's accented with glitter.  I've rounded some corners for interest and embossed the background...it reminds me of swirly frosting!  I've used a simple button for embellishing.

Bundled Up

Good morning!  We have a new challenge for you at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight, Debbie has chosen our challenge and she would like to see "Texture" on you card.

Hmmm, texture?  Had to think on this one....  Dry embossing was the first thing that came to mind; I also added layers, chunky glitter, fine glitter, a button with twine, and some cheesecloth.  Have seen the cheesecloth on cards in blogland and have always wanted to try it; so glad I did, it was fun!

The image is one of Faith's newer ones...I love it and couldn't wait to color it!  I used pencils then added some glitter...it's a bit hard to see the fine glitter in the photo.  I did some layering and added a glitter covered snowflake and some cheesecloth.  I like the combo of the crisp, hard edges paired with the soft coloring and cheesecloth.

Mmmwaah!

Hello and Happy Valentine's Day; I hope you have some fun plans for the day!  I love making Valentine cards so I thought I would whip up one more today; I found some fun challenges and paired them with Doodle Pantry's Kissy Lips set, along with the Mojo Monday sketch.

I've used a pre-colored image and a sentiment from the set; there is also line art and patterned papers too.  The lips are printed and fussy cut then adhered to a die cut tag.  I've embellished the card with some twill, a button, and some Swarovski flatbacks (they are red, but appear dark in the photo).

The darling bear is colored with pencils, embellished with glitter and he has a paper pieced balloon.  I decided to go a bit untraditional and went with a blue card base...just for fun.  I used my Corner Chomper to add some interest to the layers and embellished with a ribbon.

Here is my card for today, using Birdbrain Conversation Hearts:

Isn't she just too darn cute?  My card didn't start out clean and simple; I had initially picked a sketch and some DPs, then colored the image to coordinate.  Well, I just wasn't loving it....  So I picked another DP and didn't really love that either....  I decided to go with the red card base and just let the adorable image shine...sometimes clean and simple is the way to go!  The image is colored with pencils and I've added some glitter accents.

Paper: G.P. 110, PTI Pure Poppy
Ink: Printer
Embellies: Martha Stewart "Candy Apple" Glitter

i {heart} ewe

Good morning!  We have a new challenge for you at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight Helen N. has chosen our challenge and she would like to see "Spots and Stripes"...what a great combo, I love it!

I used an adorable set from The Cat's Pajamas...aren't those sheep too darn cute?  They are colored with pencils and I've accented their hearts with glitter.  I had some tiny, pink acrylic flower embellishments in my stash that I had never opened...it turned out to be perfect for the flower the ewe was holding; I added a Swarovski crystal for a bit of extra sparkle.  The papers are sponged and I've added a flourish and sentiment to complete the card.

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, PTI Smokey Shadow, Sakura Black Gel Pen

i {heart} you

Good morning!  It's time for a new challenge from Tuesday Morning Sketches; our sponsor is Patti Rowe, Independent Demonstrator from Close to My Heart and Jessi has chosen her favorite sketch from last year.  Patti let me choose a stamp set and also sent a sample of papers, washi tape, and embellies...thank you, Patti!

I've paper pieced the elements in the sentiment, "Dotted Love", then added glitter to the heart and popped it up.  I love the DP...it's from the Laughing Lora collection...so I wanted to let it shine; I embellished simply with a ribbon tab and metal dot.  This started out to be a Valentine, but because of the colors, I really think it could be used anytime!

Sentiment: Close to My Heart "Dotted Love"
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, SU! Black Marker
Paper: SU! Perfect Plum, Assorted Papers from Close to My Heart
Embellies: Close to My Heart Metal Dot, SU! Black Grosgrain Ribbon, Martha Stewart Crystal Fine Glitter
Extras: Spellbinder's Nestabilities, Foam Tape

Good morning; it's time for Doodle Pantry's February release!  I'm working with a lovely set today called Pretty Peacock and it includes pre-colored images, line art, sentiments, and patterned papers.  I used one of the pre-colored images and kept it simple by pairing it with blue and green.  I added some texture with an embossing folder and added a bit of sparkle with some Swarovski flat backs.  I like how this one turned out...the image is stunning!

I {Heart} U

Hello; it's time for the monthly Flat Friends challenge!  For February we would like to see a card with more than one fold...sounds fun, right?!  I went to SCS and looked through all the tutorials before deciding to try the Treat Box Card; it was hard to choose one since there were so many...what a great resource.

With the use of a Scor-Pal, the box was really quite easy to construct.  You could really dress it up, but I kept it simple with just some DP.  I've used one of Emma's darling Valentine images; she is both colored and paper pieced and I've also added a bit of sparkle.  The image panel is simply adhered to the card front.

Image: Flat Friends "I Love You" Digital Image
Ink: Printer, SU! Going Gray Marker
Paper: PTI Vintage Cream, SU! Strawberry Slush, Pinecone Press DP
Embellies: Art Glitters in"Polar Bear" and "Pink Smoothie"
Extras: SU! Oval Punch, Spellbinder's Nestabilities, Corner Chomper, Hershey Nuggets

Please check out all the "fun fold" creations the DT have created to inspire you...we hope you will play along!
